    One of the better bead lock how-to's I have seen.
    I have seen a lot of people that say to put anti-seize on the bolts for the ring so that you don't pull out the threads in the event that the bolts have some electrolysis go on. Not an issue if the wheels have stainless inserts, but could be an issue for the ones that do not.

    Love the video. Now I know how to do this so hopefully we will get that one random customer at work that brings in bead locks :D
    Learned to drive stick on CZcams and now bead locks. Awesome.

    Having run both, I would say that the Nitto's do wear faster than Toyo's but, they also seem to hook up better on the rocks.

    You can drive your Jeep to most any tire shop like Discount Tire and have them balance your wheels after the fact.

    The nitto trail grappler also have different letters on each side. One is normal while the other side is italicized. Kinda an easier way to tell the different sides.

    Isn't bolting them down in a star criss cross pattern much more accurate in getting the beadlocks down equally?

    Excellent stuff guys! Love these type of videos. This video confirms that I did it right. Although, I couldn't find any info on Toyo's site if the Opencountry M/T's have an inside and outside design for the wheel. Both sides look the same to me. :-)

    I'm sure someone has mentioned this but I'll stress it. If your airing up a beadlock rim or any two piece tire think twice. There is a reason a.s.e and OSHA mandated a tire cage be used.

    i always wondered this if anybody could answer. if you put let say 35psi of pressure in your tire off the car. and put the tire on the car and put it on the ground will it change the psi? i mean, weight of the car will be pushing the tire down. wouldnt it have higher psi?

    • @wayalife
      @wayalife  Před 7 lety

      Yes, it will but not as much as you'd think. You have to remember that each tire is still only being influenced by a quarter of the weight of your vehicle.

    I would think so. Unless the product is labelled as "Offroad use only. Not for Highway use." Because then, it won't meet DOT or SAE standards.
    But other than that, you should be fine!

    What? I seriously don't understand. Can you please explain? Does it cause damage to the torque wrench? Does it "over-torque" the bolts? Does it double the torque applied to the bolts?

    • @zachdavis8499
      @zachdavis8499 Před 9 lety

      Yes. the bolts need to be checked quite often. normal wheel dose not really have any maintenance at all. Also They are illegal for road use in some states. There is quite a few look a likes on the market that look like bead locks but are not like whats in this video. on those the tire mounts like it dose on normal wheels.

      I wouldn't recommend one or at least, for how you use your Jeep. I would recommend that you get a simulated bead lock as they will be a lot cheaper and you will be able to find shops that are willing to work on them.

  • @russcarneyjr2473

    Are the beads not seated inside the rims like a standard wheel?

    • @2015_Rubicnn
      @2015_Rubicnn Před 5 lety

      The inside tire lip seats normally. The outside tire lip seats on the outside of rim so the bead lock ring can pinch the tire lip to the rim when tightening the bolts.
