  • Woodward, which has obviously been known for world-class, progression-oriented terrain parks has been growing since around 2017 (from my understanding) partnering with major ski resorts like Copper, Eldora, Boreal, Killington, etc. Meanwhile, Powdr, which had owned PC and Canyons but sold them to Vail in 2013 and 2014 respectively due to financial issues; still had a foothold at the formerly named Gorgoza Park at nearby Jeremy Ranch, having been long since the defunct Parley’s Summit Ski Area. In 2018, the park announced the area was partnering with Woodward and the year afterward in December 2019, they opened this lift, Hot Laps. It serves various types of small-to-X large parks/halfpipes in the winter, and mountain biking trails of varying difficulty in the summer.
Hot Laps is a Doppelmayr fixed-quad built in 2019, and is the only fixed-grip Doppelmayr in Utah to have the wind-resistant backrests, even though Utah is no stranger to other lifts with this kind of chairs. It features the Alpen-Star drive and one of the first fixed grips to receive the new Doppelmayr Connect controls. Clearly this lift would go faster than it when I rode it, but since it has bike racks on the chairs, it goes at a walking pace at 200 fpm, even though Hot Laps is designed to go 350, definitely during the winter, but not summer. Hot Laps is such a cool lift for dedicated freestyle enthusiasts and I know it’ll be there for a long time to come.
    Capacity: 1,200 per hour
Ride Time: 4.7 minutes (8.2 minutes in the summer)
    Vertical Rise: 349 ft
    Length: 1628 ft
    Towers: 7
    Carriers: 71
    Design Speed: 350 fpm
Speed day of recording: 200 fpm
    Filmed July 12th, 2024

The bike setup on this lift looks exactly like Bryce Resort's bike setup on their chairlift.
