  • A short ride through the hills around Melbourne on my VTR1000F FireStorm. Bike has Yoshimura RS3 exhausts (without baffles), bottom fairing, seat cowl, Tape works graphics and Nicky Hayden decals.
    The first minute or so of the video has music (Korn) but after that it is exhaust/engine sounds only.
    Video was recorded on a GitUp Git2 action camera at 1080p with image stabilisation (in built gyro) and using the external microphone.

    Excellent video. Great to see (and hear) a video in which the author made an effort to record the exhaust sound correctly. My ears loved it!

    Nice. I have a '98 VTR with a 2 into one Yoshi exhaust and it sounds brilliant. The bike gets into gear that quick it scares the bejesus outta me! And I love it ( Been riding since I was 17 and now 63 )

      Same here . When I first ride. I was surprised by. How quick you can shift it. It just goes it so quick.

      Jims can you tell me? I've heard there are issues with the chain tensioner on the Firestorms? Can you report?

      @iaintempl8 Před 4 lety

      @@ivanjulian2532 the standard cam chain tensioner are time bombs, they can let go without any warning. Even new genuine Honda items are prone to fail. Invest in some manual tensioners, set and forget.

    I have a 99 VTR, in red with the same exhaust system. I was not looking to buy a motorcycle, but the second I heard this fired up in the shop, that was it "Sold"

    Great camera work... I've had my Storm for over ten years now, got a Blade too... But still enjoy the Storm. O, I fitted a USD front end from a '06 CBR600RR to the Storm. Very straight forward swap. Handles a lot better now. You should think about it.

    • @mcguinness1372

      I sold the storm...driving an MT10 now :)

      I have just bought a storm and will look into the CBR600RR UPGRADE, THANK YOU, as the front dives WAY to easy for my liking or can I just use the settings to stiffen them up a bit.
      PS I only weigh 10 stone and they always pitch me forwards even under light intermittent braking I am looking for a break in the weather to try them out in a controlled EMERGENCY STOP so wish me luck:)
      I used to own a CBR 600F ULTIMA LIGHT 2000 CARB MODEL AND THAT HAD 43MM FORKS and I used to bottom them out so much that the headlight fairing used to thump on the front mudguard.
      Incidentally, in the late 80s, I owned an NSR 400RR (18 miles to the bloody gallon) AND A VF400FD and they both had HONDA TRAC a kind of anti-dive and I never noticed how good this piece of kit was until I rode a bike without this fitted, I wonder why it has died out and why a third party has not invested in bringing this out on today's bikes? like they have with steering dampers!
      Just a question when you say front end do you mean fork yokes/braces and headstocks meaning the entire front end swap out and of course the callipers will slip straight on as well:?

      Do you have to change the wheel as well or do the brakes fit the vtr.

    • @matthewfoyle4421
      @matthewfoyle4421 Před 4 lety

      @@mycbr600isace The Wheel from the 600 has 3 spokes, same as the 1000.
      So you use the 600 wheel and brakes (master and slave) and front mud-guard, all from the 600.
      The only real problem is the handle-bars.
      Total cost to me
      Buy the whole front end $1500
      Paint wheel and guard ?
      Modify the 600 Bars ? Not easy. I did most of the work... plus paint.
      Put a thick washer under the top triple clamp
      And grind down the steering lock boss on the frame.
      I think I spent around $2500 plus my labour.
      Cost now to you ? Much More !

    I bought a 2001 vtr1000 superhawk geez people don't understand how quick they are look at the quarter mile 10-second quarter-mile these bikes are not slow by any means freaking blast to ride they handle amazing only one problem with them 30000 Mi they're done and I can't believe the Hondas okay with this no recall at 30,000 miles on these bikes the timing chain tensioner goes out for sure they do and then it blows your motor up Hondas okay with a 30000 mile bike it freaking drives me up the wall now that it happened to me it really shines a light on it why is there not a recall Honda Honda Honda Honda recall the superhawk the timing chain tensioner goes out at 30,000 miles you all know this why is there not a recall I spent $3,500 on the bike gear another $2,000 put new tires front and back on the bike another $400 it literally ran for fucking one day the day after I put the new tires on it change the oil head for the mountains smiling from ear-to-ear then all the sudden clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack freaking Honda 30000 MI Motors down and Honda's perfectly okay with selling us a 30,000 mile bike look it up that's what they're known to go for 30000 miles if you don't change that...... So Honda do a recall and change that I'm freaking believable you think we could have money just to throw away why would anybody buy a motorcycle that only runs for 30,000 miles and this is not a fluke it's all over the internet that's how long they last 30000 miles
