The kid is 6'10, can put the ball on the floor a bit, good help side shot blocker, solid athlete, and knows what he's doing on the floor. He needs to get physically stronger and get his perimeter scoring up to par.
Also can't shoot, turns the ball over a lot, very loose handle but plays like he thinks he's Kyrie, not a good perimeter defender at all, and shies away from any kind of contact when attacking the rim.
I've been waiting for this one, I hope you do a scouting of Tyler Kolek as one of the next ones, this is the best channel in my opinion to learn how about the prospects, since I don't get to watch foreign ball, and don't always get to watch college basketball.
Looks like a lot issue caused by lack of strength. Looks at Brandon Miller this year. I think Matas Buzelis still have good chance to be a all star or better.
It’s said for like, most prospects , but adding some strength I think will benefit just about every part of his game. It will help with his driving game as he’ll hopefully be able to bump guys more often, it will help with his on-ball defense a lot (I don’t think his feet are superr slow and I actually think his hips are pretty damn good and he’s technically pretty sound) helping him absorb contact and stand his ground, and it may even help his shooting improve from deeper range as it gets a bit easier for him to get the ball there.
What makes Matas a better prospect than Tidjane Saluan? I don’t really see it with Matas especially if the jumper doesn’t come around. He was underwhelming for the most part. Everything is mostly theoretical with him. Handle isn’t good, shot isn’t good, playmaking wasn’t as advertised and isn’t a good on ball defender. The best thing about him right now is his help side defense which impressed me this year but other than that he’s raw. Saluan is raw as well but I buy the shot more and I think he’s a slightly better athlete.
The short answer is that the ball skills, playmaking and shot creation are there for Matas and not for Tidjane. It's hard to see Salaun being anything more than a role player -- albeit a high end one -- because there's nothing there in terms of ball handling and passing. His vision is limited and he's a straight-line driver vs closeouts. There isn't much to build on. While it might be underwhelming vs expectations, Buzelis is clearly very comfortable with the ball even if he needs to tighten up his handle and he shows good vision and shows some ability to create (mid-range) shots off the dribble. I also think it's very easy to see rapid improvements in his on ball game as he gains weight/strength and even if he isn't a primary. We know tertiary creation ability is still important in the playoffs. He's also a high feel player and we've seen a lot of those guys overperform their draft position in recent years. Another big one is scoring versatility. Not saying this will happen by any means but a lot of "missed" prospects like Kawhi and Jokic had a wide range of ways they could score even though they weren't super effective at it. (Anthony Edwards is the best example of this even though he wasn't overlooked. Obviously.) The thinking being that creating the shot is the hard part so it's more important developmentally that the moves are there than the results. Defensively it's mostly preference I think. Salaun is probably better in most schemes but Buzelis has some extra rim protection that is really important in rotation heavy defenses
Love your Vids bro. Can anyone else see him fitting in with the Rockets at #3, assuming Risacher is gone already. His size, defense, versatility. A solid core of Amen, Green, Buzelis, Smith Jr., Sengun, Whitmore, and Eason. Along with our Veterans. 🤔
@@VietnamvetOG Matas is nowhere close to Jaden as a lateral mover or on-ball defender. He lacks the fluidity and ability to play through contact to be a top-end wing option as of now. Playing him as a stand still shooter with the ability to guard in low-man optimizes him as a prospect, and if at some point he can begin to attack close outs, he could be a truly elite forward, but he hasn’t shown enough evidence of that up to this point.
@@Htiy why was jaden drafted at 28 his year? He developed to be what he was but they have the same frame and similar athleticism. Matas is more skilled athletically but that mold of player should be heralded.
@@whoosh5469 yes jaden also has been in the league for four years, there’s a reason why he was barely a first round pick off his lone season in college. Matas is 19 years old and you just have to look at his growth from high school to the g to understand he is capable of being that calibre of player having the same frame and actually being more naturally talented offensively.
This might be one of the players I would be ok with if the rockets get him at 3. He a stretch four in my opinion so he could play with Sengun and Jabari in certain lineups with Ime and he is a good driver and a solid rim protector. But again for us it would be risky to draft him because we don’t need anymore non shooters. I think him and Franz are similar players so he one of the guys could be a borderline line all star. I could see his floor if he gets the shooting down maybe Naz Ried a six man
Portland at 7 would probably be disappointing given what we’ve seen. Add Salaun and next year’s Blazer team will set records for 3 point % futility. Still, in a few years he will probably be a really good player.
Jayson Tatum was being called the next Penny Hardaway in high school. Harrison Barnes was named a pre-season All-American. RJ Barrett was going to be the next great point forward. Early predictions are often way too hyperbolic.
Looks like he will be an ok but complementary player on both ends of the floor. Not a lockdown defender because of footspeed and strength issues, nor even a secondary option offensively for the same reason. Not a solid shooter right now, has a tunnel vision at times, not a playmaker by any means. My bet is that he will slide to the end of the lottery, I can't imaging teams taking average ceiling player with bust potential in top five.
I like it as an idea. Anyone that knows the Thunder organisation knows they're playing Chet at the five. Mainstream media keep banging on about OKC needing a center, but with the playstyle they have committed to (playing Chet at the five).... someone like Buzelis is what they actually need. Their playstyle got them to the #1 seed in the stacked Western Conference, so they're not going to abandon it by going after Clingon, Edey, or any other slow big man. I like the fit of Buzelis, and I think conceptually, that's what they were hoping Ousmane Dieng could become. If they don't think Ous can fill that role, I'd be pretty happy if they took Buzelis as a second crack at finding the long stretch four who can do all the Thunder prerequisites - dribble, pass, shoot, and defend.
Ya unfortunately he's just not projecting to be a big upgrade from Sochan and Buzelis can't play next to other non-shooters right now. I think 4 will be a young PG (Dilly, Topic, or Collier), and 8 will be a BPA regardless of position
Don't get why he's mocked as high as he is and lower than Holland. I'm not even a Holland fan but it's a travesty their mock positioning/ranking aren't in reverse. If I see this guy dribbling for my team, I might as well instruct my guys to get ready for the transition break on the other end. He's a turnover waiting to happen.
He would fit so well with the spurs , imaging having to defend 6'10 Matas and 7'5 Wemby? Lol its the Twin Towers , and let's not even talk about defense lol
this dude just seems so mid to me. versatile players are sought after now but a lot of the times they just aren't great at anything and get stuck in the g league
I like the addition of freeze frames to emphasize/illustrate points!

Yep. That's exactly what he said in the video, and what we all know. 👍👍
Actually 6’8.75 barefoot,6’10 with shoes only. Plus he got a short wingspan (6’10).
@@Leo-nc3yx I was referencing his height with shoes on. All the players play the game with shoes on.

Long term play for sure. Just about everything about his game is raw
exactly he has all the unteachable tools, and just needs to sharpen those teachable tools to perfect his game
If people looked at him more similarly to Maxi Kleber than Franz Wagner, they’d be a lot higher on him.
Huh??? Maybe jaden McDaniels. When you can move at the frame your deadly as the third or 4th option. That’s what franchises should want

He is an option for Detroit. The more he can improve his perimeter scoring the more sensible a choice he'll be in a Piston uniform.
compating his mechanics with holland, now i'm more a holland's team... for my pistons, in case they have to choose betwen the two
