I have been so inspired by the beautiful chateau related channels I watch on CZcams, like Chateau Diaries, Dreaming of a Chateau, Doing It Ourselves etc that I decided to give our guest room a dreamy and elegant makeover! Nearly everything I decorate with is a thrift store, garage sale, or auction find. My husband and I live in a Folk Cottage Style Victorian home and I love looking for unique antiques to compliment our historical home.

Pink and gold lampshade would be so pretty on that female statue! A pale green gold and pink beads would be stunning dangling from the shade. So pretty!

I suggest a medium green to emerald green lamp shade because the "lady" is muted enough herself to contrast with it and it will help bring out the green leaves in the roses picture. Sort of a statement corner.

I am excited to see this video. I am visiting a few rural chateaus in France in June of 2023 including Chateau de la Basmaignée, Chateau Gonneville sur Honfleur, and Chateau de la Motte Husson. I may go to Chateau de la Lande if I have time. It is about 8 hours from the others. I am obsessed with antique French style.

The cat loves the bed. Thank you for sharing. I'm the same way with color. I REALLY want to LIVE with light colors even though I appreciate darker colors. I agree with you. Good wood doesn't need to be painted. Go lighter or darker with the finish, but don't paint. Your mom will love sleeping there. 🥰 I'm thinking that maybe you need a really good steamer. No shine or danger of scorching. Hang it & steam it.

Find a large, ornate frame that you can put on top of the rose painting. Make sure the matte still shows. Attach the ornate frame to the rose board with liquid nails. Your roses will look like a stunning, old oil painting. I have done it and it works beautifully. Will look better than just adding those gold pieces to the corner of the painting. Give your MOM the dimensions. I am sure that she will find it in no time. Your room is stunning and perfectly curated.

I'm so glad you don't paint your antiques. I don't think people realise just how damaging "chalk paint" is on furniture. I also don't think many people realise that it's been around for centuries being referred to as the poor man's paint. Mixing plaster into paint would make it stick and cover better. I remember my Dad saying that his grandfather used this method on walls they're all from Italy. The fact that it's so expensive now is almost offensive. Anyhoo I would absolutely love to stay there. You could find a steamer for big jobs. As they hang the steam takes out wrinkles!

I remember when you cleaned the chandelier and wow is it a beauty and I’m still drooling over your large wall scone as well as the smaller one with crystals. I mentioned to you a couple of weeks ago that I was going to Florida and do some antiquing while there, I found a gorgeous pair of Louis XVI mirrored wall sconces with crystals for a screaming 😱 deal. I wish I could send you a pic. Anyway, as I finish this novel I’ve written, your naked lady lamp might look good with a shade of muted sage, pink and cream. ❤️

Love the guest room; so elegantly beautiful. If I visit my dear friend in WA, I want to book this enchanting room: the bed, the Icart, the chandelier!!!! I think the color of the shade for the naked lady should be the muted greenish blue of the small long pillow on the bed & a similar color I thought found on the lamp on the marble top table.
