      I think most lifters could benefit from some general mobility and core training but "exercise systems" (I'm being kind here) like pilates or yoga are needlessly complicated for that. We can get everything we need really from a handful of stretches and some planks.
      The same way that genpop folk could probably use with some basic strength training but that doesn't mean they need to jump on a powerlifting program.

    • @StopTheDamnTape
      @StopTheDamnTape Před 3 měsíci +10

      @@BigUriel I know what you mean .. I just think leaving it up to us can be a bit … unreliable. I can handle intense cardio, hard lifting … but mobility and stretching and shit drives me nuts, massive adhd attack lol I hate that shit. If you’re doing a whole session under instruction and kind of “held accountable” it’s gonna be more effective imo since you can’t just half ass and “that’ll do”

    For everyone thinking that pilates is easy, you should give it a try. It'll blow your mind. I work out 4-5 times a week, but when I tried pilates for the first time I nearly cried. Female trainer was maybe 160cm and max. 50kg, when she did the exercise it looked so easy, when it was my turn she even lowered the resistance and still it was crazy hard to do. Once you're able to do it properly they might just change up the angle a bit, but that makes it even more hard... The trainer explained to me that pilates focus more on stability and works out a different layer in the muscle, therefore it doesn't matter that much if you can lift heavy weights or not.

    I was professional dancer that did Pilates and Yoga at least 4 days a week. Now, I'm a bodybuilder (as a hobby). All 3 principles have made bodybuilding incredibly easy to stay injury free. Never a cramp anywhere despite lifting pretty heavy. I think people take core and flexibility too lightly, and I wish more got into at least yoga. Another thing is breathing. As a dancer, breathing is probably the most essential thing besides weight balancing. Sounds rudimentary, but i've trained other tour dancers that somehow did NOT know how to control their breath nor squeeze their core correctly. Helped a lot when doing heavy DL's and squats. Expand your horizons folks!

    in the beginning, she said this was made for rehabbing soldiers during WWII. That makes perfect sense to be able to isolate certain muscles for healing. They then essentially turned each movement into an isolation/concentration sarcoplasmic hypertrophy exercise looking to trigger lactic acid burn. The advantage is that you can isolate just about any muscle with light weight and spring tension without the restrictions of vertical/gravity load. A lot like semi-loaded yoga. Terrible for hypertrophy, but for flexibility and overall health im sure its better than nothing.

    • @nightingale4786
      @nightingale4786 Před 4 měsíci +67

      not only is it better than nothing but it's great for injury prevention. that's why many dancers use it for cross-conditioning and most professional ballet schools have dedicated classes for pilates. the creator was inspired by eastern methods of moving, namely yoga and martial arts, so it makes sense that the bones of those disciplines are present in pilates as well!

      That's not quite right - what she said. Josef Pilates was imprisoned in the UK during WW1 (because he was a foreign national). So he created exercises to help them.

    I respect this guy for trying new/different types of workouts. To see a man this strong struggle with basic movement shows that lifting weights doesn’t really transition to functional movements which also takes strength and stability. With that being said it’s great to see a man with this many followers and fan base try these different forms of exercise and I hope it encourages his fan base to be open to try things like this and learn and understand the benefits of it. I’m happy for this guy and proud of him at the same time. Guys of this stature are to good to try different things. Glad he’s open to everything and always has his ears open to listen and learn. She’s teaching a posterior pelvic tilt for rectus abdominus engagement. As a power lifter you need to have a neutral spine or an anterior pelvic tilt - last thing you want is a posterior tilt while lifting because your lumbar spine will be taking the weight. It’s important to have pelvic awareness and be able to get into all pelvic positions.

    Sinking the stomach in? Is she talking about the pelvic tilt before working lower core? When I think about the hip and the spine relationship it would make sense tilting the hip the release compression.

    She is just rapid-firing, spit blasting all kinds of form and technique at him. Dudes trying so hard to keep up and try his best; seem by his casual 'okay' s. I dont know if it wouldve helped, but I always appreciate it when they show me the exercise first.
