I really got into Snow Patrol during the pandemic due to Gary´s streaming (caught them afterwards, would love to have seen them live), waaay too late... but like a good movie or tv show you discover a bit late, there is a lot to hear and watch.
I am 61 and I simply can not explain how I only discovered Snow Patrol because I happened to watch them on James Corden in 2018. I am stunned. The lyrics are brilliant. I know a truly great album when I hear it-goosebumps. I can't stop listening to them. I have lost friends to addiction and have others that live in the past. Another just lost his son. I've been in recovery for more than half my life now, and it SO worth everything it takes in the early days to begin learning how we walk through anything without turning to our addictions (which always make it worse, not better in the long run). It has allowed me, and many folks I know, to become someone who can hold their head up, can look in the mirror without shame, can feel like their existence is a positive thing in the world, not the opposite. And I absolutely agree. The message embodied in Gary's lyrics here is exactly the sort of encouragement to continue to "suit up and show up" that we so often need.
I remember the first day Don't Give In was out. I first listened to it a little bit before May 25, 2018. I think April 21st it is magnificent! The lyrics are brilliant. This performance is so charming so nice and gorgeous. When I listen to this song it brings me up, gives me hope and joy. Gary is so so cute I absolutely love him.
I think they're gotten better over the years...I really do. I can't wait to hear them play older stuff with the Wildness album. Seeing them THIS MONTH in New Jersey with ES !!!
