The most unbelievable thing about the opening skit was Alex being shorter than OJ.
That's what she said. đ
Maybe it's all the years of seeing him in drag, but now whenever I look at OJ, I can't help but see michelle rodriguez. They just look exactly the same to me now.
this is a feminist piece of crap
Fun fact: OJ is actually standing in this skit.
Why is this comment getting so many likes? Itâs a little ridiculous
Wait....Ken is the oppressed in the beginning, then he discovers the truth, he tries to free the "Kens"...and then he loses and is oppressed again....Ken is the hero of the movie....đđ
Ken is not oppressed at any point in the movie, he's just pushed to the side. When Ken was in power the Barbies were oppressed, which was the contrast of when Barbie and Ken held power over Barbieland/Kendom.
@@drtyscoundrell Oppression is not only the act of "oppressing" another...it is also the unequal distribution of power that benefits one of the parties...in the world of Barbie the kens have no power, they cannot decide on situations that affect society, they cannot even vote, the barbie world is not a democracy it is a dictatorship under the rule of the Barbies...the fact that the Kens are not physically mistreated does not change the fact that they are oppressed.....and The fact that Ken became a dictator himself at one point doesn't change the fact that he was oppressed to begin with...
â ââ @@drtyscoundrellnot allowing a gender to join the Supreme Court? Not being allowed to work, no property rights? What is oppression to you?
@@drtyscoundrellthe kens were actually oppressed though. They couldnât own houses or even stay in them at night. The way the women took back power is ridiculous as well. They just emotionally manipulated the men and tricked them. Then the movie ended with a joke that was about 70 years past being logical.
@@kyle-cl1by Bro the plan was hilarious!!! And that's true the Kens did not have any houses LMFAO I forgot about that. The movie is literally so funny idk y people r being such snowflakes about it.
Angry joe attacking ANY other youtuber for being "Angry" about something is very hypocritical.. I'm disappointed in you Joe...
Just another in a long line of his asinine takes, no reason to be disappointed.
Welcome to Shill Joe.
He's no longer Angry Joe, he's entirely Corporate Commander now.
AJ is scared of his own political brethren. He knows the right/centre will just criticise him, maybe insult him but then continue watching or just get on with things. His own political side will hound him, stop watching, try to cancel him and metoo him. They are spiteful, like this movie.
He's politically correct not angry joe now
Have you heard the tragedy of Joe Angrious?
Ironic...
He could shame others for their rage, but not himself.

Barbenheimer.
Be original
"I am now a Barbie girl, living in a Barbie World" đ„
Yeah I always figured she had borderline personality disorder or something definitely definitely got that hair trigger.. you know that one, where all of the sudden the eyes go black, and every single taboo that had been agreed upon as going too far in and.. crossing the line is immediately crossed and then some.. and the next thing you know you're getting medium to small plates chucked at you.. like frisbees.. except you're the one wearing shoes so you got to go get the vacuum cuz obviously Barbie's barefoot and you don't want her to get cut in the foot and stuff and at that point it just gives you something to do so you can kind of keep everything under control and next thing you know... Japan surrenders.
The ending was particularly bad, I've could have understood the sexism in Barbie's world if by the end they learned that that sexism is bad no matter what (both against men and women) and decided to give equal rights to the Kens (using the discrimination against Kens as a metaphor for sexism against women in the real world), instead the Barbies decided to keep oppressing the Kens because the real world is sexist against women... What kind of lesson is that?!
yup, instead of creating a utopia of equality, Barbieland remained a pink dystopia just beginning to take its first step in the right direction. At least they apologised for discriminating against the "weirdos".
I think it's probably just a joke about how ppl in general are naturally selfish when it comes to power regardless of gender
That would have been so much better. The whole point of equality is far BOTH sides to be equal.
@@blueflare3848
Lol. They never wanted equality, brother.
And don't forget she goes and gets genitalia in a movie marketed for kids . Wow
Letâs let the Barbie movie be a reminder that just because we have a protagonist, it doesnât necessarily mean they are a hero. Protagonist =/= hero. Ken and his brethren are quite literally second class citizens and after the failed coup the Barbies reestablished the hierarchy. She doesnât try to see the way they were treated was unfair. They tossed them a few bones but overall it goes back to the same old order.
Kens have no property, are barred from holding high offices, and are overall subjugated. Itâs so bizarre that none of them in the end realized both extremes are bad.
And honestly I would have to say Ken experienced more growth in the film then I would even argue Barbie did.
Seemed to me that barbie world was supposed to be the antithesis of the real world in the eyes of socially-progressive females. In that they are still lacking representation in areas they believe to be critical, however it's on the right track. Both the ken world and original version of barbie world were demonised in that they were both extreme versions of social disparity
Are you so daft that you don't see the treatment of Ken is a subversion of how society treats women?
Thatâs⊠kinda the point. Itâs supposed to be ironic. Thereâs even a joke at the end of the movie where the Kens ask for a member in the Supreme Court and the Barbies give them a lower ranking court position. Then the narrator says that in a couple of years the Kens will have as much representation as women do in the real world government.
Itâs not supposed to be fair for the Kens, because itâs holding a mirror to the real world. Yes, itâs played up to an extreme to suit the movie, but youâre supposed to think itâs unfair because it IS unfair. Barbieland is an inverse of the real world, Barbie can be a doctor, a pilot, a president, a businesswoman. What is Ken supposed to do? Just stand there, look pretty, be an accessory to Barbie. Sound familiar?
The Kenâs are supposed to be an inverse of women in our world. Traditionally accessories to men, trophy wives. Stand there, look pretty, cook the food, take care of the kids. The man goes off to work. Youâre supposed to think that itâs unfair for the Kenâs, because itâs unfair that thatâs how we treat women in the real world.
I feel that was the point. Bad treatment of men was adressed as something wrong, but in the end, achieving equality is a difficult and long process. Also, on a surprisingly bitter note, movie shows that sometimes partial inequality is dubbed as equality and whole progress stops at that, which is shown by the part then narrator adresses the real world.
@@Spadz55 It could have been fair reflection in the mid-50s, nowadays, not so much, if at all. At least in the West. It looks ridiculous and dumb hyperbole, which only infuriate people.

Seems like the feminist message, in this film and elsewhere, is primarily concerned with highlighting the struggles, hardships and unfairness of being female. But I would think a more empowering message for young girls would be to focus on self-improvement, bettering yourself and overcoming obstacles. The whole "you're perfect, but the world is against you" message indulges in our innate narcissistic tendencies, which is the exactly the opposite of empowering.
That's how they want them:
feeling empowered, emotionally driven, essentially weak and 100% controllable.
That sums it up perfectly
The message drowned the movie,
Girls dont care about "the patriarchy" they just like the dolls lol
There's a whole history of the toys they completely ignored
Even a whole history of Mattel themselves that was ignored.
One of Barbie toy lines top toy designers at Mattel was a black woman who worked there for almost 30 years. She was so black her name was black (Kitty Black Perkins).
Ruth Handler actually helped form Mattel (alongside her husband who is not named in the movie here).
Ruth named Ken after her own son (also not mentioned here)
Yet the movie had Mattel be all white guys. Pathetic lol
Also missing a bunch of characters. Barbie's sisters Stacie and Chelsea werent there, Alan's girlfriend Midge who was Barbie's best friend, was there, but she wasn't named as Alan's gf (because they made Alan a loser lol) and she was shamed for being pregnant (even though her toy debuted in the 60's and her pregnant version didnt come till 2002, while there was already a pregnant Barbie doll in 1988), there's a whole history of Black Barbie dolls who weren't called Barbie who were missing, ones like Francie, Julia, Shallie, Asha, Sisters in Soul trio, etc. So for anyone who was a fan of the toy line, it'd be like going to see a G.I. Joe movie where every character is named.....Joe lol

Thatâs not what heâs saying. People have the right to be angry and have criticism. However, there are people who dedicate their entire platforms to being reactionaries. Reactionaries in a sense of making bad faith arguments based off bogeyman scenarios, fallacies, poor constructive criticism, and culture war nonsense. There are people who go into a movie or TV show already hating it, and then go create a false narrative. All of this to get a rise out of certain demographics, which,l in turn, gives them social currency. They have been doing this for years, and unfortunately people eat it up my candy.

Well, thatâs the whole point of the business of entertainment. Finding your target audience. Sure anyone can view and have their own thoughts and opinions. However you can objectively say itâs a good movie but itâs not catered to your interests. I can dislike documentaries and understand maybe another demographic would like it better but still be able to say itâs a well made documentary. The perspective in which something is written plays a huge part in who will be the ones enjoying the movie. Sure there will be those who will like it anyways no matter the perspective but humans tend to have bias towards things that they can relate to.
