@@LearnToGrow1 Thanks! I do grow mint. I actually found one that I love more than anything and it’s pineapple mint. It keeps dying on me for some reason just out of the blue. It will look so healthy and beautiful and one morning I’ll wake up and it will be brown and dead looking. Thankfully I always take cuttings and have more ready to start so I’ve got one more plant left from it I’ve started from cuttings. I have a harder time with mint than any of the other herbs. Even my chocolate mint doesn’t look healthy. My basil, oregano and everything else is beautiful. Oh, my lemon balm gets mealybugs a lot. 🤷🏻♀️

I see you planted parsley, basil, and mint in individual pots instead of in the bed with other herbs. I know you said that with mint it’ll take over so is it the same with basil and parsley? Is that why you planted them in individual containers? How about cilantro? I would really like to know which herbs are ok to grow together in my wood bed since I don’t have a lot of room for separate containers. Also, what’s under the soil in your bed? I recently got gifted a handmade wood bed and I’m not sure how to set it up 🙈 How does the water drain from the soil? I know these are probably silly questions but like I said I am VERY NEW to gardening. And lastly can I add anything else to my bed that isn’t herbs? Like small tomatoes or chilis? Hi Yes, mint is best planted on its own as they spread via rhizomes/stems. I usually plant herbs together with similar soil and light requirements. Mediterranean or woody herbs such as rosemary, lavender, prefer well-drained, sandy loam and soft herbs such as cilantro, parsley, and basil can be planted together as they require moderately moist, well-drained soil. Yes most herbs can be planted with other crops..basil and chives are great with tomatoes and may repel insect pests. Here is my recent video on growing herbs in containers. Make sure to water moderately till they are established. Use well-draining potting soil and add compost or worm castings to your garden bed before planting. Hope this helps! Group your info, Maybe start with a generalized overview of soil, water, light, pests, symbiots for plants, then how you grouped them for planting and why. Then talk about the woody herbs each plants needs and tolerances. Then the softer herbs. Then how to transplant, etc.

Hi Each plant need proper spacing depending on variety. If planted too close they will compete for nutrients and water. Make sure to read the information on the seed packet for spacing, Yes amend the soil with compost to give it some organic matter that microbes will break down to release nutrients. My first thought was too dilute some spearmint or peppermint oil in some water and a spray bottle. And then spray it lightly onto the surface of the soil. Under the actual plants that are growing out of the soil. Will this harm the herb or plant itself? Or maybe some deluded lemon extract or something like that.
Hi! Most potting mix already contain compost or fertilizer, so it isn't necessary to add more at planting. You can add fertilizer in the summer or as needed if the leaves turn yellow. Thanks for watching!

What type of rosemary are you growing? I've tried growing it 3 times, twice in my planters and once in the ground and it dies in January every single time.
Hi we have Tuscan Blue. It’s hardy to 15 F. You can try other that are hardier if you live in a cold climate. Those two are hardy to 0 to -10 F: Arp and Athens Bluee Spire .
Do u just pinch off most parts of the rotting stems or dig the plant out to remove stem completely? Cos my basil and coriander cuttings are still attracting flies. And those flies are attracting spiders. 😂 waiting for my neem oil to arrive. I guess that would work right? 🤔

Hi they do take a long time to germinate, sometimes three weeks to over a month. If you can get cuttings from a neighbor, friend or family member you can start some and you will get a head start. Love pineapple mint! Try not to overwater...once established they are drought tolerant. Only water when the top inch feels dry to touch. ☺️

Hi Linda, Yes, chives would make a great companion, as well as cilantro and all three thrive in similar conditions.
Dill and mint planted in their own pots have strong aromas that deer don’t like.

Hi have you tried Bt as a soil drench? It kills their larvae. I also try to bottom water and let the top two inches of soil dry in between.

Will these eventually take over that container? Will you have to take out cut them back and refresh the soil each year?
Hi they won’t grow large if they’re in a small pot. So prune dead stems in late winter while they’re dormant.
