Hi, I was wondering if you could answer me since I'm taking a class where we use the Ultima for exercise testing.
I get that the Ultima creates a vacuum to take samples of inspired and expired air to measure the fraction of both O2 and CO2, and that flow must be measured to calculate minute ventilation and thus VO2 and VCO2. It's been explained once, but I've forgotten : What does each of the three pins of the umbilical measure ? Which one does what ?

The two pins that are next to each other measure the pressure drop in the internal strut of the preVent flow sensor which results in the ability to measure flow/volume. The single pin below those two is the sample line where the O2 and CO2 samples are entrained into the analyzer.
