    Well done SW Motech for getting this out on the market. In the real world any type of non waterproof luggage is just a waste of time. Clear, concise review mate. Thanks and Merry Christmas.🎄👍🏼

      Me personally I'm on the fence, but I understand the market for it. I've never had a real need for fully waterproof, my bikes screens have protected from the weather while on the move, and if it really bangs it down I just put the rain cover over. Just a personal preference of course, I also prefer the styling of the (non waterproof) Pro range. Merry Christmas👍😜

    Great review again Shaun, I’m like yourself and have the Micro and City on my XR and don’t really see the need for this, I like the adjustability of the normal bags depending on my requirements, unfortunately there is none with any of the fully waterproof range, but understandable too with what they are trying to achieve. One thing I would like to see is a way of locking the tank bag in place without having to drill holes and use tools for traveling. I can’t complain though as I’ve got caught out with both in heavy rain without the cover and have yet to have them let water in 👍🏻

      I'm the same m8, I've hardly used the rain covers. Luckily on an adventure/tourer bikes the screen and the larger front ends protect it 90% of the time anyway. I do understand the interest in the "fully waterproof" bags, if I was going away on a much longer trip, I'd go full waterproof!

    Quite happy with my Engage, don’t really need a fully waterproof bag. Love my Motech kit for my Multistrada and have sadly spent a lot on accessories including brilliant rack adapters for my Street Rack meaning I can fit a tank bag or top box. Even the red flashes complement the Ducati red😉

      Was speaking the team about this last time I was at SWMOTECH, we were all fairly surprised about the high demand for fully waterproof tank bags! I'm the same as you on this, I never really had the need, and the rain cover was more than sufficient for me. I also prefer the styling of the standard Pro bags👍

    • @mattmutane5502
      @mattmutane5502 Před rokem

      @@thelikeablerider8800 Thing is, if you're going to have a bag on the tank, why wouldn't you want it to be waterproof? (he says, with a water resistant only Givi bag... ;) :( ). If I was switching to SWM, which I'm really temped to do, I'd go waterproof... what's the downside? (I never either carry my waterproof covers for tank bag nor tail pack, and probably would be too lazy to use them even if I did... )

    • @thelikeablerider8800
      @thelikeablerider8800  Před rokem

      @@mattmutane5502 purely down to personal preference Matt! I've hardly ever had to use the rain cover, and for me the sacrifice in styling doesn't warrant the "extra" functionality. I do understand why so many have expressed the need for full waterproof. If I was to go on much longer trip, then most certainly would go full waterproof, but for the odd week or two I'd stay with the standard Pro City👍

    I'm getting ready to purchase the Yukon or city pro for my new 23 s1000xr. Do both of these fit the XR without interfering with the visibility of the TFT or gps (BMW factory mount). I do a lot of day trips and some cross country trips. I don't think I need the larger one for daily use but would be handy if it isn't too big for every day riding.

  • @geoffsmith1616
    @geoffsmith1616 Před rokem

    Nice one Shaun, I bought the smaller day pack as your channel and a few others use this gear, the magnetic part that screws to the tank itself has 2 x larger kind of flat headed screws but there made of cheese , do you happen to know where I can more from , can’t seem to find any on the tinter… there very flat topped with a cap head insert (should be torx I think) thanks for a great review

    Hi Shaun, I'm not sure which tank bag to go for. I'm touring later this year. I want a waterproof bag like the pro city or yukon. The only reason I want one is that I want quick access to a mirrorless camera. For size purposes, it's a Sony a7iii with a medium-sized zoom lens. Will the yukon wp be sufficient, or would the pro city be better. Oh, and secondly, I have an Evo currently which can be secured, Im assuming because of the no drilling, the yukon or city can not be secured?

    • @thelikeablerider8800
      @thelikeablerider8800  Před rokem +1

      Unfortunately I haven't had to Yukon to test out, but I'm sure it will accommodate you camera. Me on the other hand, I prefer the Pro City when touring, just for that bit more space. For securing the new bags, I think they sell a lockable cable.
