Sinking Our Teeth In - Metal Detecting a 1700s Dentist's Mansion with Lots of Silver

- It's been the summer of 1700's property Metal Detecting for us and this week we got access to yet another one. This dentist's mansion in historic Pennsylvania kept me, Nibbler, and Doug busy hunting the grounds for a good 9-10 hours until the sun had enough and went to bed. Together we found the most pieces of silver we've ever gotten as a group along with several really cool relics and other interesting pieces. Normally I'm excited to start farm detecting in the fall but this year I'm trying hold on to this colonial summer just a little longer.
The Nibbler put out a video of his finds if you want to see closeups of his loot as well as more of his finds not seen here. Check him out at:

I am not embarrassed to admit it but I think that the Nibbler is hilarious. "Combing the yard"
Gold pure gold! Ha!
Hahaha "Knife could have been on the Titanic Doug!"🤣......It sank on it's maiden voyage. That's one rare knife if a survivor had that sucker with them and it ended up buried in a lawn. Awesome video.
Goat man was really cool. That and Kyles bracelet were my favorites, along with all the laughs of course!
What an amazing place, with a generous homeowner. You all had a fun time, with some interesting finds, but the GoatMan gets the blue ribbon! 🏅
Goat man was really cool but I have to give ‘find of the day’ honor to Nibbler for his incredible sterling bracelet. That really knocked my socks off!
Silver bracelet, silver fork, silver coins, wow what a hunt! Not to mention you signing and getting peed on by a frog. Love this one Jason!
Hi jason just wanted to thank you for your generous bid on mikes auction that was held for my great friend and digging partner durrington dave who sadly passed away GL&HH steve 🇬🇧🇺🇸
Hey Steve. I'm so sorry to hear about Dave. My sincere condolences to you, his family, and all his friends. I'm sure he'd be delighted that all the diggers came to help though. Proud of Mike for putting everything together so quickly. Take care buddy.
Mike did an awesome job and so did everyone involved 🇬🇧🇺🇸
Kyle's bracelet was out of this world and your goat dude was so crazy cool. Loved Doug's button and battleship knife. What a fantastic permission!
Thanks man. That bracelet was a heavy sucker too. Solid silver all the way through. Super find for Nibbler!
Looked like a hair clip next to the goat. Great finds from all three of you guys. Thanks.
Yay! Having fun saving history! Awesome site and finds. Love that goat item. Thanks for sharing and HH
Great hunt guys, silver galore, and very cool goat Jason, awesome..well done ATB Michael
Ok that was funny with the comb. I used to make music with the bristles too. Lmao. Large bristles, low tones. Small bristles, high tones. 😄😄
Looks like you boys had a GREAT DAY 👍🏼😃🇨🇦
Thanks Barbara. Great digs, great property, and great company. Hard not too!
Great job Jason and gang.
Fun video. Beautiful property and some great interesting finds. 😎 Congrats!
Great finds. What a cool old place. Thank you for sharing.
Love the little goat guy. That thing looks really cool. And the battle ship pocket knife was awesome. Looks like someone carved it themselves.
Love Love Love this channel! You find the most interesting things and your commentary keeps me entertained the whole time!
Everybody had excellent finds that day. You don't see too many Barbers come out that nice. The knife that Doug found was interesting. I could see both the desert motif and the ship with some big old guns.
Thanks Yoman. That Barber was probably dropped early in its career. Doug’s knife was fantastic, I hope he’s able to date it. Rare to find designs like that, normally those old pocket knives are really rusted over.
Three blind metaldetectorists.....funny as H%ll. Pocket knife western theme, beautiful pocket knife that was encased in rust and dirt, can't read the dates on the coins. I am not giving you guys a hard time, I am laughing because its comical. That was a great site, great finds, great production. I live practically in your back yard and would love to join you sometime. Let me know if it's possible.........love these videos!! Ohhhh and frog pee helps eyesight!! Hahahahaha
That location is definitely a return encounter.
That first unknown item looks to be something like a transformer without the coiled wire. It showed the ribbed layers among other aspects of one. Nice finds over all.
Thanks Kevin, and for the ID help too!
Great video! Everybody had some awesome finds and lots of fun!
What an awesome hunt today! Congrats you guys!
Great permission hunt with the guys and some awesome relics and silver Jason 😀 Big Congrats to to all 👏👍👏 Best of Luck to you and Happy Hunting my Friend 😁
That pocket knife looks like a "Forest Master" It was made by Colonial Knives for decades in various configurations.
I thought that the fingers of Doug's gloves were worn off. I was going to send you some new gloves for him. Then I realized that the rubber coating was pinkish, somewhat skin-colored. So nevermind. Great video!
Great hunt and great location. One of your best videos this year!
Wow Jason! You guys keep getting some amazing permissions! Incredible finds! I laughed so hard when Kyle handed you that comb and you busted out in song! Too funny! That goat thing is awesome so unique. Everyone had an incredible day!! Thanks so much for sharing & Happy Hunting! ~ Gypsy
Hi Gypsy! I like your videos a lot
Thanks Gypsy. It's not often that a find makes me bust out in a song. lol Looking forward to catching you on Andy's show tonight! Have fun with it!
Well done Jason awesome finds by the three Amigos...
like the goat man!!!.
GL&HH.JIM 👍
GREAT finds guys, what a fun experience you all had.
Amazing permission and some great friends to hunt it with. You all found some interesting relics and coins. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
Thanks!
That was a dream permission . Absolutely stunning estate and you did really well, as did everyone. I think worth doing again, the possibilities are endless. Thanks for another great video Jason.
That Marine pin is in fact a WW1 era EGA (Eagle, Globe and Anchor) Up to the 20's the EGA had both vertical and horizontal marks ... the screwback design confirms the era as well. Killer find! The knife at 22 min mark may be a Merchant Marine from the WW2 era
That knife is so awesome... i was also thinking Merchant Marine but for some reason i feel that its Canadian...IDK why...
Awesome finds ! The Marine pin is a Eagle Globe and Anchor
What a great hunt Jason! Always fun when you happen upon a yard that really gives up her treasures. Still looking for my first large cent. Patience Jeff patience 🙂
Thanks Jeff. It took me almost 2 years to find my first large cent. Crazy how a coin so big and thick can be so elusive. You’ll get it man, soon they’ll get tired of hiding and give up.
Good hunt. I like Kyle's hat! That goat looks like a bottle opener.
That was one of your best hunts i think so far same with Kyle. Indian tribe and Lots of silvers.. Great Video Jason.. Thanks AL BOL on your next hunt
Thanks Al!
"Concave Flat Button"....am I the only one that found that humorous?
Hey Jason, great array of finds! GOAT MAN RULES!
17:37 Pastry fork. One tyne is wider, than the others.
21:30 Indian Department button, Waterbury(?) 1870s-1930s
Thanks Charlie. The sterling fork was cool. Super happy for Nibbler to catch that. Not sure of the button back mark. I’ll have to ask if it was cleaned yet.
Interesting finds for everyone.
Jason, Great video as always! Talk about luck, I got a 1906 “S” IHP in change a few days ago from a convenience store.
Great hunt Jason, you guys have been getting some great historic permissions lately! Great combination of finds for you guys, congratulations! See you on the next, GL and HH!
They was an incredible hunt. Congratulations guys!
great hunt nice finds on the silvers the marine corps pin and the toy gun sweet!
Put this one on my favorites list. Fabulous hunt. I have a 1891 Indian penny.
Thanks Karen!
Closest thing I saw similar to the pocket knife was an SS Bremen souvenir knife. You guys find the coolest stuff.
I’ll have to look that up. That knife Doug found was a beauty. I was so tired at the time I didn’t really appreciate it until I watched the video back later. Thanks for the possible ID!
The broken spoon is more than likely a fancy brow and from a ‘dress’ bridle ... probably silver... nice find!
Way to go Kyle!!!!! That's AWESOME!!! Great hunt for you all! Congrats!!
Thanks Jeremiah. Kyle is really starting to master that Equinox!
Awesome hunt you guys! Congrats on some great finds! GL & HH!
the knife that Doug found is amazing! With out knowing who the knife manufacture is and going by just the carved silhouette on the side... I'm going to take a guess on what ship that is. If the people who lived in the house from 20's-50's were from Canada or knew someone who was in the Canadian Navy I'd say its the HMS Montclare or the T.E.V. Princess Patricia. The silhouette also resembles The RMS Queen Elizabeth. But knowing the manufacture might narrow it down a little.
Ugh... you guys are so lucky!!! Anyways keep up the good work and i cant wait for more.
I wonder if your spoon handle was a barrette????? Really cool finds guys!!! Really enjoy all the humor!!!
great property and awesome finds guys
EARTH ANGEL😇 NICE dig! YOU all found great relics!!👍I didn’t see any digging around those 200 year old 🌲 🌳 tree bases!!??? Horse 🐴 tack. SWEET Billy Goat Gruff!!!🙀🐐 How cool!!😎 I think 🤔 that to get to the real “golden oldies “ you probably have to dig down 18 inches,at least! That hitching post wall should be a winner, too!,I believe the carved ship 🚢 knife is a WW11 relic.AND of course, the great silver dimes!⭐️😳😳😍👍👍
Awesome hunt Jason love the videos!!! Keep it up brother!!! Good luck and happy hunting!!!
Holy crap! Awesome hunt!! Thats insane!! I have seen that goat man before...somewhere🤔 That whatsit in the wrap up was part of an electric motor..
Billy Goat Man is very cool
What a neat bracelet that was found. I love the old properties and the History behind them.. Great Episode, looking forward to watching it all.
Thanks Nick!
Hi Jason, what cool finds, love the bracelet.. I wonder if that was a spoon handle, and the piece on the back was to stop it sliding into the jam, or whatever....just a guess... love the goat find too, could be a little bottle opener...??? well done on the silvers too....
take care mate
GL & HH
Tom
Native American jewelry is not often marked, if it is marked its more modern. Great finds, keep @ it and HH!!
Awesome home!! You had a hayday guys!! HH! Norma.
NICE DIGGS. ALWAYS ENJOY WATCHING.
Thanks Triple D! Say hi to those grand babies from me!
One of your better hunts this year. Kyle just killed it though. These bracelets go for about 150 bucks or more if old. Got one last year. Sterling fork wow! Congrats to all of you. ATB, Sebastian.
I love watching your adventures and I actually look forward to Thursdays even though I have to be discrete in my cubicle. haha That's was a great place and the finds today were incredible!
Thanks Jen! Appreciate you letting me share the workday with you!
You guys get the best spots and the coolest finds. Really love this channel. Great finds this week once again, especially Nibbler's bracelet!
Amazing hunt guys can’t wait to see the next one good luck on the next
Sweet hunt! Congrats on all the silver and cool finds! GL&HH.
Thanks man!
Wow! What a house to metal detect at! Tell the homeowners thank you for letting you guys dig there because we get to see all these neat things. *thumbs up* Love the orange light on the side of the home/barn near the end of the video. So beautiful!
Dang man, that place looks amazingly fun to dig!! Great vid brother, awesome finds as usual from everyone!! .Keep up the great vids, thanks for sharing!! HH
awesome property and permission. Killer finds all of you! keep it up fellas
Nibbler's bracelet = Amazing!
Oh man, it sure was!
That homestead sounds amazing.
Oh it was cool Pat. I had a ton of footage of the Stone walls and barns but had to but then out for time sake. It was one of the cooler places we’ve been to.
Great finds, Jason!! I'd love to hunt a place with IHP potential!! Saw you were down in Missouri with Ford and Mike. 2 extremely nice guys and it looked like all of you had some fun!! You really opened up Missouri Mike. Jeff doiesn't need to be opened up, he's already a free style kind of guy!! Loved to hunt with those two!! HH & GL
Mike reminds me of Kyle, funny in a dry sense of humor way. Him and Jeff are awesome guys to hang out with. Looking forward to doing it again, maybe up here next time.
Awesome finds and great video! Happy Hunting! Amazing job.
Nice video !!!! Great finds !!!! Much enjoyed !!!!
Thanks buddy!
An awesome hunt Jason. Three silver and a IHP. I would go back to that one for sure. Thanks for sharing brother. Good luck and happy hunting.
Thanks Cain. We did go back for another 1/2 day and did really well. We have the rare problem of too many new spots at the moment so we have to move on for now. I’m sure we’ll be back again in late fall though. Really cool place!
Quarter Hoarder that’s not a problem brother that is a blessing LOL. Good luck and happy hunting.
Nibbler Excited-look! You know its getting good!:)...
My buddy found 3- of those cool old garden markers at a permission we did last winter, Pretty neat finds.
Thanks Dirk. Nibbler is a man of few words, so when he speaks its gotta be good!
The house on the hill.....Wasn't that a horror movie Jason? lol
Another great Quarter Hoarder permission and video. congrats to all three of you.
HH....Shayne
Thanks Shane. The permissions have been really kind this summer.
Congratulations on the silvers. Really nice bracelet Kyle found. I thought the token had Kyles face on it. JK Kyle lol. Nice IHPs Doug got. Thanks for sharing. Until next time HH&GL *Chris*
Great site! Good digs!
Wow! Amazing property!!Incredible finds!!
Thanks Gute!
The song you sang with the comb was from Cheech and Chong. I remember it from when I was a kid. You are always entertaining even without all the crazy old stuff you find!
I think it was from Cheech and Chong. I’m not sure why that popped in my head, haven’t heard it in 25plus years. My brain is just in nostalgic mode when we’re digging old stuff I guess.
Great hunt!!! Got the decal!!! Thanks!!!
Glad it made it!
Great hunt 👍🏼
Sweet spot! Nice dig!
That is a garden marker. Dill is an herb also used in making pickles :)
Great finds my friend
Appreciate it Mike!
Hey from N.C. Quarter! I’m wondering if the Goat “thingy” could be a Bottle Opener cause it had a hook on top-also, the Spoon handle that had the knob on the back, wondering if it was for after you stir the pot you can put the spoon to rest by the knob on the side of the pot? Love your videos and friends!
Doug Johnson Thanks Doug! I’m in the out skirts of Charlotte and we got some real heavy wind and rain, it was nothing compared to New Bern-been praying for everyone as well!
You guys were killing it. What a great treasure hunt for all. Congratulations gentlemen on an excellent video and treasure hunt. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Jay!
It's hunts like this one that really gets your goat! Fantastic hunt/finds by all! Great job Jason!
Ha! Hard to come up with funny goat quips. Nicely done!
The markings on your friend's Sterling fork may be a family monogram. It may have local family history.
great fines and video like the goat man thanks for sharing keep up the great work
Thanks Kiah!
Ironic you dug the goat and might just be the digging GOAT!
😳 Old old house! Awesome finds Jason, can’t wait to meet you sometime and do some metal detecting adventure. Great videos guys. ( Haven’t Find my Indian Penny yet!) .
Thanks and that sounds great. I didn't know you were so close until Al told me. I caught some of your collab video, great group of guys!
Quarter Hoarder yes Brother I’m not so far away! Just let me know if you ever wanna do a hunt with us. Again Jason thank you man.
How funny the frog peed on you! I was dying!!!!!
I guess I should start leaving the wildlife alone. I’ve been chased, bit, almost stung, and now peed on. And all that was just from Doug!
😂 naughty Doug!...🐓🐝🐸
My Dad made a ring for my Mom with a silver spoon handle, so it’s not unheard of to make other jewelry out of spoon handles
I use that bag too lol
I got mine from Walmart but mine was black instead and I had my grandma sew my pinpointer holder to it
Nice finds. Still standing and occupied colonial homes seem to rarely give up many period finds though. Probably combination of lots of trash and lots of dirt moved around. Ill stick to the fields
your mystery item is a stator for a shaded pole electric motor. cool finds
You're right on! A.C. motor.
Great call. Small engine part never crossed my mind. Thanks.
Mystery item at 23:48 is the stator laminations from a shaded pole motor, of the type used in bathroom and stove exhaust fans. It is a bunch of sheets of silicon steel, and a copper shorting loop around one part.
Wow. Thanks Allan! That was not even on my long list for guesses.
Great to be out detecting with friends and fellow CZcamsrs.
My latest upload has some great CZcamsrs in my video.
Great finds Jason.
Cheers Famo59.Tony.👍⛏🍺🤓
Awesome, maybe some time you can find out any online history on the home, if there is any. Think about it, a lost dime in those days was a cpl days of food lost. Michael Landon with his "Little house on the Prairie " kind of gives perspective to what ya got for a penny in the country. A huge bag of candy or a bigger bag of flour. Which makes bread, biscuits, chicken coatings to sauces. Major staples were flour, sugar, coffee and or honey plus eggs. If you didnt have chickens, you had $$ to buy the meats fand eggs rom butchers or corner stores. Dont know if you still have some original store fronts there. But growing up in the deserts of Nv and Ca, then driving around AZ to Oklahoma n around, tons of history. Old signs and all. Some ppl/adults, didnt care for lil house but ML made a point to go the distance on prospective, realism, family life and religion. Tho im not religious.. lol. Whats cool tho is if you recall Mr Garvey on the series. He was a pro football player. Real last name was Olsen. My foot dr in Utah was his cousin. They still make $$ from that series . Another thing ML did was again for the kids, was made sure all their $$ they earned wasnt in control by family. They received $ like an allowance in the home, he paid ALL the bills related to filming, travel, cost of living, etc. So the kids $$ was all theres with interest. No need to work ever again. Melissa Gilbert only started again with returning to stuff with the series and beauty care. I only know of 1 kid that continues to act in major shows now, Jason Bateman. He was a short time actor as MLs sort of adopted son with his sister. Cooper was the last name. Like a season or 2 then a rich uncle took them. Ending the acting on the show but he went into bigger and better high pay stuff vs comfort. To each there own eh.. history of history and of film, series and actors.
