not everyone knows this but i officially moved to Los Angeles about a year ago. even though i miss my family and friends in the Netherlands quite a lot, there’s something about this city that intrigues me and i can’t describe what it is.
there’s a reason i wrote my last 2 albums out here, in Echo Park. i feel some type of energy here that inspires me. every time i go on my little morning run i pass by so many unique individuals and i can’t help but wonder about their story, their past, their journey, their destination.
the truth is i’ll never really know about any of their lives, or what they’re going through in that moment… this is called "sonder." we’re all kind of in our own little reality, but being aware of the fact that we’re all living our own completely unique and complex life is somehow very unifying. in the end we’re all in this thing together… we’re all in the same boat. this music video is an ode to sonder.

I see exactly what you mean. I always think about people as 2nd character in my life (me being the 1st). I know they are 1st character in their life, which means they are the main character. All these stories and events that are happening to them, it's all around them and all about them. Therefore I am the 2nd character in their life. When you think about it and actually comprehend it - it's just mindblowing ✨
Vestal avenue! Still, to this date, my favourite song (if I may call it a song, knowing that there are no lyrics) that you've made. It's my mélodie (in French, meaning melody) that brings me so much joy and so many feelings. Just makes me feel GREAT.

I'm glad you're enjoying your time here, I remembered when I moved to Japan a few years ago, it was hard during COVID when I couldn't see my old friends and family during the holidays. Luckily I was able to venture out with friends and meet and interact with he locals in Japan. It was a great experience. I hope to visit your country one day San! Hope you eat some good Mexican food while living in Cali :)

For me this song harmonizes a certain feeling that I've always had, but kept to myself.
When you walk down the street, you see all kinds of people, their eyes, faces, even how they walk or express themselves.
You don't know them, but then it hits you; they're just like you. You wonder what is their life like, what are their happiness and worries, hopes and dreams, wins and loses, since yourself have all that and much more in common. And what occasion makes them be there with you at that exact moment, and on that fleeting moment in time if that's the last time you'll see them, their identity gone as a wind but somehow always present with you.
You don't know them, but if you see to your side each and everyone of them has an unique-ever life. The "sonder" for me fills me with empathy, is one of the most beautiful and interesting things to exist, as you and me are a part of it.
