  • Recorded 5/21/2024 at 4:49 pm. One of two things, either auto control or auto router. Auto control is what restricts the throttle on the locomotive to a relatively low setting to save money on fuel for upper management/shareholders. The auto router is on the signal aspect side, and I believe it's responsible for lining signals for trains. Perhaps on this day 282 saw an approach signal ahead in Wellford on their PTC. That could've been why they were going slow initially. Either way, whatever it was, I'm getting sick of this. Catching things in this area has gotten rather tedious for me now. Not sure how much longer I'm going to put up with this! At least on the W-Line I have one relatively reliable area for track speed. For the mainline now it seems like I might not have any left, all thanks to this stupid auto control. If the train isn't a high priority one like 24X, 28R, 27A, or 25A, or has a foreign leader, it'll most likely be slow in the area from now on. Oh, how I miss the good ol' days! :( Perhaps I need to check out the CSX A-Line in the low country someday, or maybe even the CN&L again. I've been thinking about it. Anyways, I hope you all enjoy the video.

The CSX Charlotte sub in mount holly and Matthew’s North Carolina have good speed for their trains

I know that line is pretty hilly, so I’m not sure if they move fast pretty much anywhere on that one. If I can hear the locomotives working hard while it’s slow, I’ll take that as well. Might check out that line soon as well. When I’m talking fast, I greatly desire at least 35 mph or above for freights. For intermodals, the longer and faster, the better.

@@anscrailfanner6812 mount holly is probably your better option especially for like M652. The times I’ve seen M652 there it’s like 40-45

@@scandncarearailfanner4886 After looking at some videos from the area, it seems like you’re right. Speed seems to be about 35 mph there. I’ll keep Mount Holly in mind for the Charlotte Sub. Thx for the recommendation.
