  • The Roman aqueduct of Nikopolis (Greece) from above, with the drone Fimi X8SE
To the north end of the Luros valley, near the village of St. George, north of Philippiada, dominates the Roman aqueduct of ancient Nicopolis. Large mountains with rocky eruptions rise above the river and the hydraulic chambers. The Roman aqueduct was built after Nicopolis was founded by Octavian-August (1st century BC - 1st century AD) to provide the new city with water.
The aqueduct consists of a 50-kilometre pipe. Which carried the water from the sources of Luros to the two tanks of the Nypha of Nicopolis.
