  • @DestructiconSC
    @DestructiconSC Před 4 lety +32

The least likely races to get, which I'd most love to see implemented would be Amazons and Araby.
While the introduction of the Vampire Coast did raise the likeliness, I think at this point CA would also prefer to come up with some different or unique mechanics to make it work.
The Vampire Coast unique compared to the Vampire Counts in that they have a hoard mechanic for their lords, in addition to functional cities, they introduced the pirate cove mechanic and they just straight up play differently.
I think that's the sort of approach they'd need to have with both Amazons and Araby.
For Amazons they could be different from other human nations by focusing more on skirmishes and ambushes, perhaps relying on a horde mechanic but having a few notable Lizardmen cities or Old one sites they could occupy. They could probably rely on poisons and also use some dinosaurs, but a lot less than Lizardmen, as in the dinos should be more support, instead of straight up the heavy hitters.
They might also have access to some of the Slann spells.
However all the above are just variations on existing mechanics and nothing new or unique.

      Yeah i like your idea.
In the Warhammer world, lots of the factions are based on real world or historical civilizations. Like the Lizardmen looking all Aztec, Empire being all Holy Roman Empire, Norsca being vikings, Bretonnia which is England-France incarnate. I feel like araby would be like a lot of arabic kingdoms, like i think araby would have great cavalry(like real arabian armies), lots of fast light infantry, ok skirmishers, and like weak artillery. Overall i think araby would be the first Ordertide Human Rush faction.

@@sirknight3180 but that's also the issues with most western fantasy. Making stuff inspired by vikings or Roman's is easy because it's part of the creators culture and they have inherent knowledge about it.
But if you make a race based on say Arabic culture, if you with zero knowledge about it start making it, you base it of racial stereotypes or things you picked up from other media. It's best to have an expert on the culture consult you so you avoid doing something disrespectful (ie the pygmies)

Instead of full factions some of these could be retooled as mercenary units, or maybe something akin to the regiments of renown. For example the Moot could have it own unique building chain allowing any order faction occupying it to recruit halflings, same for amazons in Tlaxtlan, and some Kul mercenaries (functioning as elite marauder horsemen maybe?) available to Norscans and chaos, but only recruitable around the Baersonling's camp.
As a general rule of thumb I think we should always try to put stuff at specific locations on the map: it forces you to move and conquer places to get stuff instead of turtling in the corner

  • @BlackLightningBird
    @BlackLightningBird Před 4 lety +8

I really want Snake Men of Khuresh so that they can make a trailer full of He-Man references.
-Kurgans could be added as a horde alternative to Norsca as a free DLC.
-Amazonians as RoRs for Lizardmen or just references in random events at best, Lustria is too crowded.
-Halflings could come as a unique hero and early game RoRs that could be gotten through random campaign events or a unique building in the Moot.
-Hobgoblins could easily come as a horde faction for the Chaos Dwarfs.
-Pigmies I definitely don't see happening and you can easily tell why, very hard thing to pull of tastefully and not piss off a lot of people.
-Fishmen could definitely be an easter egg for Lizardmen as a random event.
Not having enough lore to be considered worth doing is actually a great thing, since Old World is being revived and GW gave them permission to make stuff up, CA could work together with GW and develop some pretty cool models for Snake Men for instance, since they have basically no tabletop models but sound pretty interesting, they would sell well. I'm also pretty sure they would certainly want Ind, Cathay and Nippon in their game, people from those regions would love that if they were done tastefully. India, China and Japan have huge videogame cultures and if the marketing is done right, they could bring a ton of new fans and potential buyers.

I think it'd be interesting to get the Lizardmen curveball, and include the Amazons in their roster in game 3, or as a DLC for 2. It'd be more interesting to have some as minor factions that have decent relations with the Lizardmen, but I think that'd probably be the best way to implement them. Then, the Lizardmen can have like, 2-3 Amazonian units (Amazonian Warriors, Jaguar Warriors, and maybe a ranged unit, a berserker unit, or a Cold-One Rider unit?), a Regiment (or two) of Renown, a Hero type (Either a Spellcaster hero, or some sort of Handmaiden type hero), and a Legendary Lord (their queen, most likely.)

A huntsman style campaign focused on gathering up these great regiments to make a grand expedition would be really good. And regiments like the Desert Dogs would make great previews for their home cultures hopeful appearance in 3.

  • @NotQuiteEnglish01

I feel like there needs to be a fundamental change in horde mechanics.
    1) I'd completely ditch upkeep for horde unit. Makes no sense to me that Beastmen or Chaos Warriors need paying, they just want to watch the world burn. Instead, you can trade favour for army buffs from the Chaos Gods.
    2) I'd lock elite units behind some sort of victory mechanic. You need to increase your renown to attract the strongest warriors to your cause so the more battles you win, the better the troops you can recruit.
    3) Cities destroyed by a horde faction should be unable to be resettled whilst your horde is alive. Once that city is razed, that's it, poof. It now stands as a monument to the Chaos Gods or something. Nakai's mechanic would be fine, with a little tweaking to represent the horde race and goals.
    4) There should also be a final battle for horde campaigns. In the End Times, the races came together for one final stand against Chaos. It could be your hordes vs everyone else. There could be a turn limit, forcing you to eliminate as many factions as possible in that time to better your chances in the final battle.
    Something like that.

@Hauke Holst ok the halfling are a bad exempel.
But how will this work when GW has killed of the old world. They are not selling any unit models from the old war but they are going back there and
Isnt this a great oppertunity to let CA do all the factions and units and in that way GW can see which factions are the populare ones and where to put their eggs in which basket? 😁

  • @CommanderBohn
    @CommanderBohn Před 4 lety +1

You never know. With some work you can put in everything. If the Dogs of War appear, then it won't be impossible that Lumpin Croop's Fighting Cocks will be available and thus halflings appearing isn't impossible. Also you don't need a new LL or something like this. You can add in a new type of lord, the aforementioned units and then have them be recruitable by the Empire as long as you hold The Moot. Maybe for anyone from any order faction.
Kurgans, as well as the Hung, can also be easily mitigated, but for that to happen the Horde mechanic must be reworked to hell and back. We could make generic lords and units for both of them and have them as Norscan units.
Snakemen from the Hinterlands of Khuresh? Easy. If Ind will ever be playable, then have the former be combined with the latter, thus the Ind armies get Snakemen as monster infantry and the Blood Nagas as Lord choices.
Amazons? Simple. Have them as unit and hero packs recruitable for anyone who controls the places that are settled by them in lore (among them the Temple of Kara). Of course only probably for selected factions (you imagine
    The Fishmen...I see the problem
The Pygmies? The only problems I have with them is their lips looking too comical and overall looking weird due to early sculpts being very dated. It would be a shame if they weren't in. They'd definitively be monster-hunter units and frighteningly efficient at it. I mean they can easily hunt down Coatlts. The very big, Chimera-sized feathered flying dinos who are also discount Slaan and can reshape the forests just by flying over them.
    Also where are the Coatlts?

2 years ago...heh, well I mean at least we know that 2 of these will more than likely actually be added later on...while not right now Koresh will definitely be a DLC and possibly other things...alot of the others I can see why they wont honestly exist though...
Granted Kuresh will definiely need a ton of attention considering they aren't even brought up much at all during the lore for the most part. However it wouldn't be the first time they've done such, especially considering they even spent time and money making Daniel and intertwining his lore with The big Shadow Daddy himself.
But also funny enough they removed the one island that has the most lore with it in favor for those two area's and even hint at them becoming something considering they exist while everything else doesn't...though tbh those other island may become expansions as well but only after those two islands or territories are more fleshed out...might be games workshop secretly saying they will focus on those area's first before adding in the islands just to the right of them...maybe to force Games Workshop off their asses to actually get up, and make something of nothing they left behind.
Also the fact they included them alone within the map at all instead of erasing the land masses should basically mean they wish to see the respective races implemented into the game and thus are currently having them be blank spaces or blank spaces owned by just nobody random shite factions here and there.

I think the Dogs of War could get a shot at WH3, they would just have to warp the map a little to have all the Border Prince territories fit in with the Darklands, Kislev, Ogre Kingdoms, and whatever else they want to put in. They could even be the answer for some of the missing factions mentioned here, like the Amazon mercenaries, or Arabian mercenaries. I don't think they would be a launch faction though, maybe more of a first-wave DLC.

Halflings should be part of Dogs of War where they would fit in perfectly alongside maneater ogres and tilean inventors as stealthy support troops for the rather siege minded tileans. Hobgoblins should be a minor chaos dwarf faction that can recruit more greenskin units as a hybrid. Snakemen of Khuresh could be a lizardmen colony with units for them.
The fishpeople were kindda made into something else in later lore. We know of aquatic beastmen in bretonnia, called lakemen if I am not mistaken. Typical lovecraft thing but could be something intresting to add to the beastmen as maybe a horde with magic damage or a high physical resistance. Dunno, I just see them as infantry chaos spawn and that makes them so loveable. Kurgan and Hung are technicly simlar to eachother and I could see them beeing rolled into one steppe people of chaos faction. I mean, its better to hope for them rather than chaos cults or a revised araby with a more early arabian theme and bound chaos demons instead of generic genies.

If it's profit wise, I don't think GW should ever be concerned. Warhammer community is massive and growing. They're willing pay to have all the missing slots filled. Just that the GW must work on their bad writing in the Warhammer lore, main storyline and game canon. Fill in all the factions. As for the units roster, you should focus on creating as much legendary lord as possible and then have the unique unit roster be exclusive to that specific lord. Like how Chrace units belong only to Korhil and Alastar. If the player wishes to recruit them, that player must hold the corresponding region, is HE race and built the unique landmark. They should also consider OvN and Southern Realms mod as it fills in what they lack.

I have hopes for the Horde Rework to make them work. Also i think adding Settlements in the Chaos Wastes would work to make the Kurgan kinda like a hybrid faction. Horde (when outside the Chaos Wastes) Regular Settlements (when in the Chaos Wastes) would allow Kurgan to trade with Chaos Dwarfs (which they do in the lore) and also would make a WoC campaign more fun, as there would be stuff in the Chaos Wastes to also take care of.

I'm very late to this video, but I wanted to give my two cents on the topic:
    - Araby would probably not be in these games either. As far as we know, both CA and GW are very against admitting the faction's existence. I wouldn't be surprised if they retcon them in Old World when it comes out. Also, if they wanted to add them, they would've done so already.
    - I can see why gears workshop may want to distance itself from whatever that last faction was. Definitely going to be retconned.
    - Ind, Khuresh, Cathay and Nippon. They lack a lot of lore, but the main issue is that adding them would mean enlarging the map way too much. Kind of a shame, considering they could have an interesting feel to them. It would probably only happen if either CA tries to appeal to the Chinese market or GW fleshes them out in the Old World (which would probably be long in the future). Even then, I'd expect major changes.

  • @entertainmentforthedead

tbh with the limited information we have from the lore I could see the 3rd games map only stretching as far east as the eastern edge of the ogre kingdoms, then expanding into the Southlands somewhat more. then after that I believe that CA would probably start off with a Araby DLC/Brettonia rework. followed by an Estalian/Border Princes DLC and then after that I could honestly see a lot of faction reworks to some of the old races such as the Wood Elves/Beastman (if they aren't already reworked with the last DLC for Warhammer 2)
then I could see races like Albion and maybe troll kingdoms being added, I also see the Tomb Kings perhaps getting maybe one more lord accompanied with a few new units.
my assumption is that upon release of Warhammer 3 Chaos will already be reworked as that would be a big selling feature for those who have already played Warhammer 2. I could also see Chaos being dealt with with numerous LL DLC packs.
as of right now the factions that need reworks the most in my opinion from Warhammer 2 is the Chaos, the beastmen and wood elves for sure.
