Many people on the left don't really want "more government control", we want the separation of the economy and the state so they actually work for the people and not for oligarchs/corporatists. Several countries have proven time and time again that the privatization of education and healthcare has worked to drastically improve the quality of life for the country as a whole. That's not " giving the goverment more control" at that point, it's cutting out the money-making middle man and giving the people more control.

I don't know these corporations closely, but I've heard they're good-standing citizens who always pay their taxes. Now, I'm hearing they've gotten hit the hardest. How on earth are they providing for their families now?! I hope they don't get evicted from their mansions & headquarters! I'm glad to know that almost all of our "public servants" - beside that corporatephobic Thomas Massie - immediately came around to do their bipartisan, patriotic duty of helping the most vulnerable.
A lot of them doesn't even need a bailout to stay afloat, they just whine for it so the shareholders can take out their cuts and the leaders get their bonuses.
Actually Delta gave out $2 billion in bonuses before the virus. Now a lot of their employees are helping Delta out. I hate classism. There are some really good companies out there. Remember when Ford refused the bailout under Obama? Compare Ford stock to GM stock now. My company has been very generous, but there are a lot of "what have you done for me lately?" economically ignorant people. The top 1% pay 39% of ALL taxes. While the bottom pays virtually nothing after refunds are given out. So remember to thank a rich person for your $1,200, and not the government who constantly mismanages your tax dollars. All while making you hate the rich. And Atlas shrugged.
Oh and corporations don't pay taxes. You tax them, and they just raise the price of their product/service. So basically you are taxing yourself. Then you'll say their prices are now too high, and buy Communist China crap.
Didn't Delta use 98% of their profits for stock buy backs the latter years, inflating their value and fiscally irresponsible as hell. I used to be libertarian, now I'm a social democrat, but one thing that we all can agree on is that billion and trillion dollar corporations should not have been bailed out. That bailout money should have gone to people who actually need it, such as small businesses, workers and regular Americans. Americans received a one time payment of $1200, with no guarantee that anything else will be sent, while Canadians will get $2000 a month until the pandemic ends. We can do better.
Let's all appreciate the punny portmanteau that is "corony capitalism."
