- Rottnest Island, an island off the coast of Perth, Western Australia is the home of the quokka. A marsupial only found on in Australia and is lovingly known as the world's happiest animal. It's been a dream of mine (Angel) to see these animals in real life and taking a selfie has been on my bucket list forever, so this was really a dream come true experience!

👋 Who are we?
Hi there, we're Tom and Angel!
An adventurous couple from Canada who’ve always had a love for travel and the outdoors. So far, we’ve have travelled to 35 countries together!
Since moving from our hometown of Toronto to the beautiful west coast of British Columbia, we’ve been able to experience more of the outdoors than we ever have before. In October 2022, we decided to take the leap. We got on a one-way flight and started slow travelling full time while working our remote jobs.
Join us in our adventures as we live in different countries, seek authentic experiences, try new foods, and learn everything we can about this beautiful world we live in!
Have you had the chance to take a quokka selfie? Are you hoping to??
You guys are so laid back, unofficial Aussies. Your videos are so pleasant to watch. I subscribed to your CZcams channel
Awww the Quokka was so cute!
I spent a week on Rotto with my work in 1988. Had a great time. Quokkas used to hop into our chalet all the time.
I would've loved to stay! I bet they still do that now, some are pretty cheeky haha
Quokkas are also found on mainland WA
That makes me happy to hear.
Rotto is a great place to visit. Was last there just a week ago with my grandson. The bike hire can be a bit of a lottery; that time the gears on mine kept slipping! The quokkas are so cute, when they are tired they just go to sleep anywhere! However, they can be a nuisance; always trying to enter buildings and cafes, etc., - you will notice that there are no food scraps on the ground anywhere because island staff are always cleaning it up before the quokkas get to it. Glad that you got your selfies (and didn't feed them). Also thanks for acknowledging the Noongar heritage of the island.
Agreed about the bike hire lottery, I think we just got lucky enough. Thanks for the comment!
Looked like a bumpy ride over how was it on the way back ? It’s quite choppy in the arvo. Rotto is a cool place.
Didn’t see any pelicans ? They’re big buggers hey.
Less bumpy going back later in the day for sure. I think we were too tired to notice though 😅 next time, I'll be happy to just take it to Freo and hop on the train.
This was filmed in October so I wasn't sure what we'd see out there or when but the island is a really cool place.
They look like miniature kangaroos 🤩🤩
Same family!
