- Remember the voiced consonants I warned you about in a previous video? Today I’m going to teach you how to USE them in a very strategic set of vocal warmup exercises. Done correctly, these exercises can help you erase your vocal break, add vocal resonance, loosen vocal tension, and widen your range without vocal strain!
And yes, they’re weird. But THEY WORK!

“Doesn’t matter how high” I have a low voice for a female and most coaches treat you like an alto when you’re a contralto. The PULL helps. As well as the first statement. SO MUCH. I have pushed my voice my voice to match others tone thinking I was matching their pitch. Learning to sing often an octave lower and accepting that is my high has been difficult. I’m still learning so I may be explaining this wrong. Sometimes I feel like I don’t have a head voice because I compare it to others. I know tension prevents me at times, but my head voice is lower than other females I think.
Hi Judy. These exercises are wonderful. I notice when singing my throat is relaxed, airflow is smoother and I'm able to slide my voice around through the different registers and playing with the resulting sound. Thanks so much. You're the best

Bless you dear Salem! Thx for chiming in... I know you recognize these:)
Watching from Australia✨🎶 thank you!!
Hello to you in Australia... glad you like this!
Wow! Really opened and warmed up but I'm super excited to see an exercise that helps smooth out the vocal break on open vowels!! Glad I found you!
So glad this helped you with that vocal break! Thanks a ton for letting me know.
Just found you. Really like these exercises. I am a singer and coach but also suffered some damage from intubation and feel these will help. Subscribing. Thanks.
I'm so glad you like these... I'd love to know how you do with them. Btw, my own vocal cords fully recovered from intubation damage some decades ago. Here's the story: judyrodman.com/how-my-damaged-voice-came-back/ Patience is, of course, vital, but be encouraged... healing can happen, especially when we take excessive breath pressure off. Please keep in touch!
@JudyRodmanvoice Thank you so much. You have an incredible story, and I'm so grateful you shared it. I have been and will continue to attempt to re train my voice, but you've given me hope that it can/will still heal. Thank you.
My nasal cavities definitely opened up and I'm suffering a bit from hay fever at the moment. I did experience some drainage. Thank you.
@@ailishbethd4033 That's a great sign you're doing them correctly so they enable some vocal ease and ability; thanks so much for letting me know!
Freedom of my jaw is so strange!!! :D
Yes definitely free and open.
No vocal breaks here thanks ❤

I think so, too... they make your voice feel good. Glad you are trying them!
I do your exercise and technique by continuously moving from chest-head-chest-head and enjoying the smooth crossing. Thank you so much!
Yes, brilliant... it's like taking an eraser and erasing the break!
This is fantastic, Judy! Love all of these exercises

I feel my breaks so hard
I hope this helps you. I have another video coming up demonstrating a better way to do semi-occluded vocal tract exercises (SOVTE's) so stay tuned for that! (Should air May 1st or 2nd, 2024)
hi i have song on youtube call he my help i wont to know if i am singing with air flow is this a mixed voice belt
i ask you a question about my song
Hello Marie... I checked your video 'Be My Help' out and yes, you're in a mixed belt and then you go up into head voice for some scatting. If you want to sing easier and with less vocal fatigue, my suggestion is for you to back off the air pressure you're applying to your cords and allow a little more head register involvement in your middle voice mix . I know it sounds complicated, but when you 'pull' a belt sound instead of 'push' it, your voice feels AND sounds better. Check out this video to learn how singing at the wall can help you czcams.com/video/EQxVjQjk7Js/video.html
@@JudyRodmanvoice okay thank you i will do that!🥰
There's latency between the video and the audio
It's an odd thing that we can upload a video that is synced perfectly, and then some days the audio shifts in relationship to the video. Not sure why this happens, but I do hope you can benefit from trying to disregard the latency. Maybe an internet variable from weather, etc. Frustrating!
Difficult to know if one is doing the exercises right.
These are strange, and you can always try a vocal lesson for help with them. But I will tell you... whatever you do, if it makes your voice feel and sound better, you're on the right track!
