  • In this episode, Nick and his crew from PlasterRock Pools apply the marbelite interior surface for the pool. We opted for a very white interior to get the water blue like a white coral sand beach. The water has to go in immediately after the marbelite application is finished - marbelite cures underwater to prevent spider-cracks that can occur if it dries out too quickly. One truck completely filled it.
We started up the filtration system, and followed the NPC start up procedures (brushing all surfaces 3 times per day, maintaining proper water chemistry, etc.) for the 28 days it takes for the marbelite to fully cure.
Big thanks to Steve at swimmingpoolsteve.com for all his consultation help. If you are planning to build a pool, I highly recommend Steve’s new construction consultation service. Steve was an invaluable help because he provides unbiased expertise.

As far as DIY pools go I don't think it gets much better than this. Plus as a benefit, having built it yourself, you will likely enjoy your pool more than any person who has paid for a new pool installation. Great work!

I'm curious, how long would it have taken to fill the pool with your garden hose?

I’m not sure exactly what the flow rate from the hose is, but if the end of the garden hose has a flow rate of, say, 6 gallons per minute, then it should take a little over a day to fill the 10,000 gallon volume of the pool.
