    I love the toys. Toys are my favorite things to buy for the birds 😊 I also agree that a lot of toys come with things on them that are harmful to our birds. I can't figure out 🤔 why these bird toy companies don't know this and want to provide a "safe toy". I have taken off so many bells and plastic parts from toys that my birds like.
    My birds absolutely love a simple kabob 😊 and anything they can pull shredded paper out of 😂🤣 they are so silly 🤗

      I’m think companies do it because the unsafe bits are lots cheaper 😭

    We have to figure out how to get our GC Conure interested in shredding toys, toys in general. He shreds paper and cardboard as long as we are holding them, but hes afraid of anything we put in his cage or hang around for him. I've tried holding them and putting them near me to try and desensitize him but so far no luck.

    • @BirdNerdSophie
      @BirdNerdSophie  Před měsícem +1

      You can actively train him to play - offer a treat for looking at it, stepping towards it, targeting near it , or any beak to toy contact1 Break it down into small steps :)

    • @videostar323
      @videostar323 Před měsícem

      @@BirdNerdSophiethis is great advice - I find putting treats around a toy usually gets them moving towards the toy and they will usually accidentally touch the toy while looking for the treats.

    Hi Sophie! I'm a big fan of yours and David's channels, you've both helped me A LOT!
    I have a question, hope you can help me with it. I have a baby, 7 week old cockatiel that is such a sweetheart. He's amazing in every sense, except when I'm out of his view: he starts screaming and stops everything he's doing. He just stands there, waiting for me to come back. I am hoping this is because he's too young still buuut, I do not want him to get used to this and stop eating and playing when I'm not around :( Should I start to worrt about this behaviour? Should I book a consultation with you both for this? Thanks so much in advice!

    • @Hooks-hobbies
      @Hooks-hobbies Před měsícem +2

      Hi - I'm not Sophie or Davic but I thought I could try and help you out, You can help this behaviour out by having another cockatiel in his cage. For me my birds always need a cage mate/friend! I'm not to sure still about this behaviour xx

      @@Hooks-hobbies thanks for the reply! I do consider the option of having two tiels, but I'm also pretty scared they won't get along and then there will be two of them little monsters 🤣

    • @BirdNerdSophie
      @BirdNerdSophie  Před měsícem +1

      Hey! Thanks for watching our videos 😊 It's important to remember that he is very young and vulnerable, so he might be scared on his own! You are also his flock, so it will take a lot of time and training to feel safe on his own as a flock species!

      @@bicheandoconkaiko113 haha! yess, it's sometimes always can be a risk! One of my birds Tango used to hate the other smaller birds when they were born because he was jealous as he wouldn't get all the attention haha! He understands now he can't always get the attention he always wants. They are all a lot more bonded. Have you names your cockatiel? If so can you tell me what you named him/her 😅

    Hi Sophie, my question is in a way not related to the topic of this video, but not completely. Lately I have found one of those porous balls you have in one of your toys, and they are curious of and like trying to bit into it. I got them a fountain a while ago, and whe tried to make the fountain coirner as interesting as possible, including that ball with twine balls and cuttlebone pieces, trying to intice them to play with the water. But I'm now at the point of desperation: they will avoid the fountain! They go near the toys sometimes, but they point blank, both of them, refuse to go near the water. Knowing how much they like to be sprayed, I have at this point ran out of options... I make their toys myself, including the stuff they love, but even though the fountain is surrounded of interesting things they will not go near the water. Do you have any tips? I wish you dedicated one video to water.

    • @BirdNerdSophie
      @BirdNerdSophie  Před 28 dny +1

      You can use target training to encourage them to come closer and check it out whilst pairing being near with tasty treats! :)
