    I can't help but recall Aquinas speaking about his writings being "straw" on his death bed. The angels are beyond as well. Institutions of men could never define such things.

    A traditional Anglican hymn:
    1st verse: The nine ranks of angels
    Ye watchers and ye holy ones,
    Bright Seraphs, Cherubim and Thrones,
    Raise the glad strain, Alleluya!
    Cry out, Dominions, Princedoms, Powers,
    Virtues, Archangels, Angels' choirs,
    Alleluya, Alleluya, Alleluya, Alleluya, Alleluya!

    2nd verse: The Theotokos
    O higher than the Cherubim,
    More glorious than the Seraphim,
    Lead their praises, Alleluya!
    Thou Bearer of the eternal Word,
    Most gracious, magnify the Lord,
    Alleluya, Alleluya, Alleluya, Alleluya, Alleluya!

    3rd verse: The saints of the old and new covenants
    Respond, ye souls in endless rest,
    Ye Patriarchs and Prophets blest,
    Alleluya, Alleluya!
    Ye holy Twelve, ye Martyrs strong,
    All Saints triumphant, raise the song,
    Alleluya, Alleluya, Alleluya, Alleluya, Alleluya!

    4th verse: the church on earth joining with the angels, the Mother of God, and all the saints in praise of the Holy Trinity
    O friends, in gladness let us sing,
    Supernal anthems echoing,
    Alleluya, Alleluya!
    To God the Father, God the Son,
    And God the Spirit, Three in One,
    Alleluya, Alleluya, Alleluya, Alleluya, Alleluya!

      HOW IS THIS ANGLICAN

    • @aussiebloke51
      @aussiebloke51 Před 9 měsíci

      @@mgh926 The words of the hymn, based on the Te Deum and the Axion Estin, were written by an Anglican priest - Father Athelstan Riley. The hymn was first published in an Anglican hymn book - The English Hymnal complied by Ralph Vaughan Williams. The tune is an older German hymn tune which was popularised in the English speaking world after it was published in the English Hymnal. Often when this hymn appears in protestant hymnals the second verse, referencing the Blessed Virgin Mary, is omitted.

    Hello Father. One thing I struggle with understanding when it comes to the angels as a new convert is this: because they are passed sin how is it that Satan and his fallen angels rebelled against God.
    An honest question and I would love to hear the Orthodox perspective on this

    • @GnohmPolaeon.B.OniShartz
      @GnohmPolaeon.B.OniShartz Před 9 měsíci +2

      Dude might have a different answer, I might be wrong but.
      Satan didn't struggle, the angels don't struggle. The very instant rebellion crosses their hearts its game over an they're lost. But, they're incomprehensible and powerful and they look on God daily and hear his voice consistently. They don't have the sort of understandable leniency we get as functionless meatsacks.
      Its sort of not the same thing as a sin. Its absolute rebellion for the slightest transgression. Given, the transgressions only occur at high function levels like the rulers and power where everything must occur exactly
      So, it not really a fair comparison to say angels can sin. Its more far to say they are incapable of rejecting truth and so any act of falsehood is immediatly beyond sin and into complete rebellion.

    • @GnohmPolaeon.B.OniShartz
      @GnohmPolaeon.B.OniShartz Před 9 měsíci +3

      Willful disobedience. He didn't struggle he just stood up one day and basically said, "I already manage the difficult part of the universe, for sure I can handle the rest!" No struggle, just an instantaneous and complete rebellion.
      He didn't middle around on the idea for a century, the instant he got it in his head he acted.

      They were not at first. But just like with us, the ones that did stay with God got to this state. And the ones who did not, got to the other forever state. I read about this somewhere but I cannot remember where. If I do I will write back to you.

      "... struggle *against* sin."
      The devil, lucifer and his minions, hell and all damnation does not struggle *against* sin, they struggle *for* sin. Lord have mercy on us, send your victorious Angels to help me defeat my sins and iniquities so that we may prosper in His kingdom evermore and amen.
