  • In this video, I take a closer look at the Acebeam P16 - a premium tactical flashlight that's got it all. From military-grade construction to high brightness and candela, this light is a must-have for any flashlight enthusiast. I discuss the overall construction, LED, lens, bezel, and reflector, as well as the user interface, modes, and performance. Plus, I compare it to other lights and provide some considerations to keep in mind.
    Overall, I'm impressed with the P16 and consider it one of the top tactical EDC flashlights out there. So join me for this in-depth review and see for yourself what makes the Acebeam P16 so special.
    I purchased this light at a 40% discount from Acebeam for this review. I was not paid to create this video, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

    General thoughts after a week of usage/size comparison/practicality/interesting things:
    • Finally, I got the Acebeam P16 - this is a light I wish I'd known about earlier! As you guys know, I am really obsessed with my tactical flashlights these days, and this one ticks all of the boxes. High quality, lightweight, small, high brightness/candela, and tactical functionality. It's small enough to pocket comfortably.

    Overall Construction, LED, lens, bezel, and reflector
    • This light has a premium feel to it - the machining is flawless and there is some grippy knurling covering parts of the tail cap, body, and head of the flashlight. Military-grade construction with HAIII anodizing, IP68 rating, and 1.5m impact resistance. The anodizing is matt black, chalky, and grippy. 156grams.
    • SFT40 with TIR lens and AR glass protector. The bezel is crenulated and made of stainless steel. I like that it has been smoothed down a little so it's not sharp like on the Olight Warrior 3.
    • You can partially disassemble this light. The head and tail cap are removable. The bezel is glued shut. Acebeam says in the manual that it will void your warranty if you open it up further.
    • The P16 has a double-sided clip that is seated under the head of the flashlight - not going anywhere. The flashlight itself does not have USB-C charging but the included 18650 can be charged with a USB-C cable. It takes any non-proprietary 18650 battery. Also takes CR123/RCR123 batteries.
    • Comparison with other lights.
    UI - modes
    • Demonstration
    • Daily mode vs tactical mode
    • Momentary mode and strobe - 1 step
    Performance - total output, beam profile, longevity, practicality
    • Rated at 1800 lumens, the TIR lens produces an intense hotspot with smooth spill.
    • CCT, CRI, ceiling bounce test
    Considerations
    • No onboard charging, so if you're using other nonproprietary cells, you'll need an external charger.
    • The clip rubs against the tail cap. A bit annoying but doesn't cause any damage.
    • High candela
    • Doesn't tail stand
    Verdict
    Overall the P16 has earned a place in my top 5 tactical EDC flashlights. Acebeam gets so many things right in this flashlight, and though it costs more than some other lights with similar specs, the P16 excels in terms of overall quality, attention to detail, and performance. I just wish I knew about this light earlier!

    I really like your reviews, you are knowledgeable and down to earth. There’s a few doing torch reviews that annoy the hell out of me lol.

      Thank you Jesse. I'm a pretty chill, quieter person most the time, and can come off as monotonous if I'm not careful. So consciously try to hype things up a little lol. In longer videos, live live streams it can be a bit exhausting. Glad you enjoy my videos mate.

    Hey Darren, love these table-top reviews. I have the P17 which is a great torch but the P16 looks much more pocketable.
    Hope everything is going well, looking forward to the upcoming reviews, respect, take care = )

      Hey Bruce, looks like the P17 has much better throw though! I like ones that I can fit in my pocket more easily. Thank you mate, I have a few more coming :) take care mate.

    Hey Darren! I just discovered your channel. Excellent reviews!
    Just one question: I am looking to buy the P16 (as my first Acebeam) or the Convoy M2 culpm (I have other Convoys). Which one do you prefer overall for EDC? And which one throws farther?
    I think you are the only one that has review for both of them, but I am not really sure what is the throw (candela) on the M2.

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  Před rokem +1

      Hi Catalin, nice meeting you buddy. The M2 with CULPM1 will throw an extra 200m or so which is significant. Though it will produce less light and with a smaller hotspot too. The P16 would be a better all rounder... It'd produce more lumens but with less throw. But the P16 is a proper tactical flashlight with momentary on, glass breaking bezel, higher build quality. I'd go for the P16 unless you really want a thrower. M2 is a lot cheaper too.

    Hi Darren, thanks for this review! Does it take any 18650? How about the function switch: Is it convenient to cycle through the modes, with gloves, without? Is it pressed easily accidentally (especially when you hold the light in a way, that the clip is under the knuckles/middle joints of the fingers; hope you know what I mean)? And please, include more beamshots of the other, more practical modes, not only the super bright that is impressive, but only lasts for a short time 😉

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  Před rokem +3

      Hi Alex, yes it takes any 18650 cell. I have some military issue gloves that I use sometimes, and no issues at all. With the function switch - it's large enough to find and press (it's made of metal too and sits almost flat on the tail cap). The main switch sticks out the back and is easily to separate from the momentary, haven't had issues accidentally pressing one or the other. Ok I will try do some more later on - it was raining heavily that day and two hours later was ready to head home. Thank you for your comment mate.

    Nice review Darren. Ive never owned an Acebeam before but after seing a few reviews of this light I'm going to order one. I will also get the Acebeam tac AA at the same time as it is at an incredible price at the moment, just wish they made it with a strobe mode (useful to warn drivers to dip their highbeams at night.) Cautionary note - if you do this, make sure you give a very short blip just a few meters/yards in front of you pointing towards the ground and 99% of drivers will get the message. For the 1% who have no regard for pedestrians - Turbo the fuckers...)😮

      Both are solid tactical lights mate but I tend to go for more power these days. There's some lights that you can attach to your car and operate with wireless/wired switch :D

    Great review and flashlight. How does it compare in size to the s2+. That’s what I currently carry in a belt pouch. The head might be to big to fit the pouch.

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  Před rokem +3

      Hi Mario, this would be on the larger end of lights to carry around but it's pretty much the same size as my Convoy M2 - both feel fine in my pocket and not uncomfortable. But for example, the Convoy M21B has a 35mm head - and though it fits in my jeans pocket, it's not too comfortable and I notice it when walking, sitting down etc. Cheers! 👍
