One of the coolest features that shows how much these guys care about a useful, sensible non-lethal weapon. Is the fact that you can put a new Co2 cartridge in there, but it only gets punctured the first time you pull the trigger. THAT is awesome, because this way the weapon is ready to go, but won't deplete the charge, when just on stand-by.

I recently purchased Byrna's for my wife and I. We are both very impressed by the quality, functionality and effectiveness of the Byrna's and consider them excellent personal protection investments. Briefly, I'm a 20 year law enforcement veteran and former state law enforcement agency director. I'm also a martial arts instructor with more than 45 years experience, but at the age of 71 my martial arts skills are greatly diminished. While I have a CCW permit in my state and own numerous handguns, I'm a firm believer in having a less-than-lethal alternative to address those situations that do not rise to the level of justifying the use of deadly force. Based on my experience, very few do. In my wife's situation, she has an inherent fear of firearms but still desires the ability to protect herself - especially at a safe distance. She is very comfortable with her Byrna and finds it very user friendly. We both recommend the Byrna!

They're useful for situations where you have large groups of teammates and you don't want to kill anyone. The notion that you're going to shoot someone that's on your property with a CS pellet just to scare them off is probably stupid. They could sue you for injury. Those pellets could definitely blind someone. No way would you shoot that inside your house. Get a gun, only use it if your life is in danger. Way more simple.

The problem with owning a firearm & using it inside a home or space with sheetrock walls where there might be other people or family in the way of harm, and you have no clear shot? The best solution would be to hinder the threat. Most of the home robberies most are between maybe 1 or 2 people. It first starts with securing the outer perimeter of your home or space well with cams & sensors and a monthly security system contract. But for many people who do not own home or live in a house & who still need some kind of portable defense or, better yet, deterrent? This is a great solution!

Think of all those people who gave up their personal right to defense. Think about them willfully following what seemed socially acceptable yet it still did not lower crime rates. Lastly think really hard about what happened to all those people the death camps, experiments, and mass genocide. The overview here is a nation of people trusted their government gave up right to defense and became victims of one of histories worst genocides. Let's not repeat history.

Great review. This is a very good non lethal personal security option. Thanks for the in-depth review.

Thinking the same thing...when we were kids my friends were shooting each other, one thought he would scare his brother and shot next to a tree, a piece of the paintball tore his retina, it can happen.

Byrna has a good HR employee conduct standard. Instead of Hawaiian Shirt Friday" they have "LIve Fire Field Test Friday". That which does not kill you brings you closer together.

When they tell you that you have been invited to a "fun" team building experience, the company paintball match, but you work at Byrna.
