- Although the agenda at the NATO summit was dominated by the war in Ukraine, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan saw it as an opportunity to urge Western powers to do more to bring an end to Israel’s attacks in Gaza. Our diplomatic correspondent Andrew Hopkins reports from Washington DC.

While I am horrified by the dehumanization and crimes committed against the children of Gaza, I cannot pretend I am unaware that Erdogan is not exactly a true defender of Human Rights for all, and is not beyond invading and bombing Kurdish territories. It is ironic though that Erdogan remains the one who speaks most clearly and courageously against what is being done continuously to Gaza; he is not a man of peace, at all, yet here he chooses to be on the side of justice. Oddly enough, though I honestly dislike Erdogan for his own past crimes, I see he is more honest than the Western hypocrites (I am Canadian myself).
