I agree with demon, especially on Nightmare difficulty the most important thing you could do is keep moving. The alien is seriously good at finding out where you are so you want to keep moving to keep it guessing
I do similarly, even on higher difficulties, cause you never know when he'll immediately pop back down where you need to go a literal second after he went the max distance away. On nightmare as far as I've played it's always best to be quick and keep moving, but still be fairly cautious
Some stages of the game in general you can't do that because you just don't have time. I have been stuck for so long because i could have moved but waited and it came down close by or made it to my location before i would have time to get away. I understand what you're saying, but a lot of the time in this game its like rolling the dice.
Why would you wait? That's the best time to move as he just left the map and now you've got time to move forward with no danger. He also can't see you when he jumps up. If you do nothing you're wasting your safe time so why wait?
Damn, unlucky. I remember after my nightmare run that the Alien was a big fan of popping down from a vent almost immediately after going up. Caught me the first couple of times doing that

The best thing to do is to play this game with headset and earbuds, because you can hear the surrounding sounds around you to determine where the alien is going, especially in more difficult modes.

@0:42 - the only reason the Alien is hanging around that area is because he wants to get in that locker right there, ...the ONE and ONLY locker in the whole game that has a green plant picture on the inside of it. That's right folks, it's Locker #420. Oh, and look at the time-stamp I included, weird coincidence? Or are You smoking weed and drawing crazy conclusions, ...I know I am. Hahah!

The alien did see them, it just decided to take a weird path to them. So basically it saw them, went up into the vent, came back down from a different vent, remembered where it so them, and ran to that spot and killed them. Usually it takes the shortest path (in this case would have been the side vent) to Ripley but it can glitch out sometimes and take a much weirder path Edit: also, when you hear the alien screech, that guarantees that it wither found you or someone else
@kennethvilla4547 Yup, what @firebit64 said. The alien saw me and took a long route to get to me. The reason I stayed there is because I thought I was safe because I thought he (it) gave up the chase by going into the ceiling vent. I was apparently wrong😂
@@514demon one thing you could have done, once the alien went up into the vent, was to go into the wall vent and stay in the middle. You'd block any possible places for the alien to drop down (if you stay under a vent, the alien will not spawn there). The alien would then find another vent to drop down and the vast majority of the time (unless the alien decides to be weird) will not drop down the vent it just went into. In otherwords it would drop down another vent and run into the room it saw you in. Then you could go into the room the alien originally was and hide there. Hopefully that makes sense and no I do not play this game a lot XD Edit: also, it always looks for you in the place it last saw/heard you unless it either can't find you there or something else draws its attention
It did not outsmart you. You froze. As soon as it went into the vent , you should have crawled into the one it saw you through. Get out on the other side and then you get into a locker.
I was too afraid to go back into that room. Sometimes the alien drops back down the same vent it went up. I didn't realize it was in "chase mode" because it seemed to be gone for such a long time... Like, why didn't it just run to where I was instead of retreating into a vent. It tricked me!😅
@@514demon Whenever it hisses or gives that scream that means it has spotted you. Staying where you are is the worst decision. Move if you have a chance.

I haven’t played a lot of survival horror games, but even 10 years later it’s so intense… playing this on PS5 I still hold my breath.
The best thing to do is to play this game with headset and earbuds, because you can hear the surrounding sounds around you to determine where the alien is going, especially in more difficult modes.
Same in War Thunder, in many combat situation I rely mainly on hearing, so players that play on speakers are at disadvantage.

Can you explain what happened? The alien didn’t saw you, right? Otherwise, you wouldn’t have hidden there
The alien did see them, it just decided to take a weird path to them. So basically it saw them, went up into the vent, came back down from a different vent, remembered where it so them, and ran to that spot and killed them. Usually it takes the shortest path (in this case would have been the side vent) to Ripley but it can glitch out sometimes and take a much weirder path
