As an avid admirer of all the IOWA class battleships, and having been able to go aboard both New Jersey and Missouri when they visited Sydney many many moons and tides ago, it is amazing to see that the NJ has such a dedicated curator in Ryan and all team looking after her, as do her sister ships across the US and in Hawaii, but none are covered like the NJ, and to see them all celebrate their 100th birthdays, all in such fone form, is a day to be look forward to. I know for certain if I had the chance to volunteer to perform any work on her, I'd jump at the opportunity. Thanks for the story, and cheers from Sydney Aus 🍻🍻
A short interview with Curstor Ryan Szimanski who actually knows all the details of what was done during the dry docking would have taken this interview to the next level instead of just being a fluff piece.
Environmentalists have destroyed ALL of the good antifouling paints no longer allowed on the market. Current paints hardly last 8 months so what was the Navy permitted to use which they expect to last THIRTY FIVE YEARS ???? And what about replacing the zincs ??? A REAL story would have been nice instead of this one full of fluff.
