Hi Nico, you don't need to apologise for your "not so positive" videos. I think it's cool that you post honest videos about the situation and make people aware of what's going on in your life even if it's not positive. Please keep making videos that you personally want to make and don't worry about the views. Stay safe and live in full power.

Nico, thanks for posting this video for lots of windsurfers who are struggling with their jibes. As I teach people how to jibe I have observed two things from their movements, and both happen during the transition. The first one is about footwork. It is imperative to place your front foot close to mast base moments before you transition the sail to maintain stability. Most guys place their front foot away from the mast base area closer to straps, thereby sinking the tail and slowing the board. As a result, they have no time to transition the sail because the board comes to standing still on the water :-)) The second is to judge when to move the front foot to initiate the jibe as you are carving. This is something your brain should tell you as there is no clear explanation. My guide is about 90 degrees into the carve from the direction you are sailing. I have to make sure board has tons of speed during the carve, and you don't get intimidated by the centrifugal force of the carve. Thanks for your videos as they are helping lots of people :-))

Great video. The comparison between you and Mario highlighted for me my exact problem. I nail most of my under powered turns, but as soon as I enter the gybe either fully powered or over powered, that upright position results in the turn stalling downwind and I end up just sailing dead downwind until I fall off, or I get thrown off to the outside of the turn cause I haven't leaned in enough. Can't wait to get out and practice this. Cheers Nico, looking forward to the next tutorial. This video definitely one of your best. Off to check the weather forecast for tomorrow. Isolation on the water for me 😁

Could you give more info on how to engage the rail?
I also wonder why racers always switch the feet first, and then the sail, or both at the same time?
This gives a moment of instability when you and the rig turn at the same time. If I switch the sail first, my feet are still in the same position and can stabilize the board. When I then switch my feet, I am already holding the rig in the new sailing position, which again stabilizes the board.

I love the way you engage the race jibe, it puts a lot of power on your legs! The carve radius is so nice :) For the ones whom putting their data on GPS-Windsurfing, look at your Alpha's this is a good indication if your racejibes are efficient enough.

Thx a lot and fingers crossed for real windsurfing action soon!

Thanks Nico. Great video and important take away. Your jibes look great and very efficient at the same time.
Questions: in normal or overpowered conditions, understood. But would you go with the same logic with less wind? I mean it seems that so much pressure on the rail would then slow us down whereas a larger radius and less pressure on the rail + standing more straight maybe (?) would give us a chance to plan through the entire jibe ? Again: the question is only if the wind is not as strong or because of a lull etc. And overall: in the jibe, the more overpowered you are, the closer the radius and the closer you are to the rig when jibing?
PS. Looking forward the "overpowered" (+ any other technical) tutorial too :-) Thanks again and wishing you to be able to windsurf again as soon as possible !
