It was about people wanting see his reaction which obv he enjoyed making money and also seeing him work on something he made, like art in a way. I have no love for advertising, but what a brilliant way to integrate the sponsor. I'm genuinely amazed I haven't seen anyone else actually make a compelling showcase for squarespace after a decade on youtube.

Or at least stamped a different number on each to signifying which is which.
He did end up switching to wider stock for the ridiculously expensive ones, so if you bought a big one, your friends will know.
If you do this again (perhaps a different product), individually stamp each item with the price it sold for. Getting the exact item that was built by you for the price agreed upon would probably motivate more people to purchase.
He has it all on video. He can reverse order of when he put them in and send each exact one out.

Instead of marking every bottleopener a signed band with the price on it would also work, since he would have to make at least 10 stamps just for the prices that he probaply will never use again
@@Soeck stamping numbers on products is pretty common so he'll have plenty use for the stamps. The main issue comes in keeping track of each individual order and sending the right product to the right person.
He could have just laid them in order as he produced them on a big table next to the forge. That would have made a get visual for the video too.

I haven't watched the video yet, but tbf Jamie probably didn't have to watch the whole stream since the stream camera was on a tripod somewhat far from the action, while Jamie was shooting handheld much closer to Alec (and later, when Jamie had gone home already, iirc, Alec placed the camera that was recording this video on a tripod but closer to him, but I might be remembering something that didn't actually happen). And if there are in fact any scenes here from the stream (again, I haven't started watching this video just yet, so idk if there are any), he didn't have to watch the whole thing, instead he could just look up the hour something happened in the handheld recording and then look it up on the stream.
they took snipits from the stream, Jamie and Alec filmed the majority of the video purposefully and chose shots and positions and did retakes and stuff.

it's why i am considering unsubscribing. the content has just been getting more and more about money and advertising recently, like that one video that was basically just an entire advertisement for some knife or something, on top of having sponsorship ads at the beginning and end of the video. i am glad the dude is doing well for himself, but i liked when he was doing new challenges and expanding his repertoire rather than making bottle openers

Kind of my response as well, just in a bit less positive light.
Seems the least they cold have done is keep track of them so the person got the one in order they paid for instead of just a random one from the pile.
I've seen a lot of squarespace ads but this is the only one that actually makes me want to go use it cause it shows it in action and I might genuinely try this product that I've never considered until now

@@steeleanderson1172 considering all he changed was the price and the part number stayed the same the entire way through, there’s nothing implying that you would get any particular bottle opener at all, just one of that model. not to mention they’re not serialized nor do they have any identifying numbers, so good luck proving which one is which
@@nicholaspetros7267 he said several times which one he was making for what price. Only a matter of proving inconsistency or design flaw difference and there's a case. Honestly unless proceeds were going to charity I don't know how anyone can sleep at night justifying what was made was worth $500. I guess some people don't have ethics
