In my area all vfds are backorder until next year. Same unit, definitely doing this.

great solution for a more affordable and quick fix. much safer than wiring the fan directly to power to run constantly.

This all stems from recent government mandates on efficiency of HVAC equipment ( title 27 ? )
BTW , there are 2 long capacitors located under the cooling fan that smoke , easy to verify just pull fan up with screwdriver and look for burn / short. Likely from condensation .

Just did this yesterday after being informed it weeks if not months before we could get a new VFD.

I would leave the fuses in the circuit. The motor is now unprotected. Either that or install an overload and wire it into the control circuit. Also, you really should replace that disconnect. Finally, the fan belt is too loose, probably worn out. It should be replaced. We are bypassing these VFDs constantly. On a CV system, they're unnecessary and most of the systems we service are CV. The VFDs are also killing the motor bearings so there's that.

The motor is not internally protected therefore if it blows one of the 3 fuses it will single phase and smoke , fire dept ? ?
If anyone out there is going to do this use a motor starter sized for the motor.

Worked great for heat. I wired a jumper from yellow to green so the fan comes on with a call for cool

That's a bad idea because if anybody turns the fan on on the thermostat the cooling is going to run and it doesn't care what temperature it is

I think it was a great fix but you got a point, why not pop the contactor down stream from fuses. Maybe he knows 🤷

Would this work on ac too?

I did something like that for a customer, but he canceled the vfd and just paid for diagnostic and time
Some Customers are very ungrateful or Don’t have ethics so I don’t bypass them anymore

You need to go over the wiring slower and show where it hooks to.

Don't give them the cheaper options order the correct parts and charge them for it.

i just wired it hot to always run, way easier as a temp solution vs all of that
