When I think back to the beginning of my learning experience on guitar, Marty is right there, and right up to this very day, he still has amazing knowledge to share.
Thanks Marty!
I love the way Marty explains the bassic .
Omg,I can nerver thank you enough, thanks Marty two
Years ago I could not play a scale, now I'm playing Hendricks
Keith H, great feeling isn't it to finally be able to play the songs you love. Marty has had a huge positive impact on so many people.
You are my go to guitar teacher when I need to learn songs outside of my comfort zone. Thank you for being a wonderful teacher.
no-nonsense clear teaching, something rare to find on youtube, thank you
Thanks Marty. When I grow up I wanna play like you. :)
Marty... I am grown up and I still want to play like you. Thanks great lesson.
Me too. I'm 44
I'm 54 i started when i was 17 if i could just get past this A.D.D i'd be fine, I mean i start with wind cry's mary and 5 seconds later i'm on a different song, life is hell at times living with an attention span of a Nat
Who are we without Marty ;) learned tons from the fella from over the years hes done tons of work. love from the UK loved your little added bit here so sick 20:04
Marty has taught me many things with a guitar over the years but i never thought he’d teach me where to find the g spot
Thank you so much marty, I just started playing 10 months ago and im already jamming to my favourite hendrix songs and tearing up the solos, wouldn't be possible without you.
Sounds like your progressing fast
@@johntchb you think? It’s funny how I used to hate playing in band when they forced us to in school, but now that I’m playing guitar on my own I’ve become obsessed. I try to get at least an hour a day, if I get the chance I’ll go for 6 straight. Can’t read sheet or understand music theory yet, but I find I have a good ear and so CZcams and tabs combined do the trick.

I love how you lit up when you recognized the Little Wing, Red House and Don’t Let Me Down riffs in there. I’ve been following your lessons for two years now and I am starting to run into those riff recognition aha moments more and more now. Like Hey Joe riffs in Whole Lotta Love. Anyway, you have the best Hendrix lessons out there!
A lot of similarities in Hendrix, Page, Gilmour since they're all in the blues.pentatonic boxes for the most part but their styles are different.
this is an awseome video. spot on teaching and not mechanical or boring but like a real life lesson with a personable teacher who loves playing
Marty!! What a pleasure. It seems strange, but I have watched, listened and learned so much from you that you seem like an old friend that I visit from time to time to learn a new lick or progression. If I have a thought to "Find out how that is played", I go to MARTY. No Doubt. Thanks and May God Bless.
I can play reasonably well, geting by. You on the other hand really are on the money. And, ( starting a sentence with and) your lesson technique is outstanding. I have been want to learn that lick for 50 years. I cant quit nail it as you do, but I can "get by". Thank you for this.
Thanks Marty, if only we had music teachers like you in 1970s' England!!!!❤ Chris in Manchester.
Happy Birthday to Hendrix 2018. This song is what I have been thinking of today. Thanks Marty for having this solo lesson to review again and again!
Thanks been a Hendrix fan for ever saw him in Toronto 1969 loved the lesson
Marty , I have followed your tuition on many occasions and you make it really easy to get it right. Your patience is great. Cheers from Cape town South Africa.
I’ve been working on this for a couple of weeks now. I’ve learned all the parts. Now it’s just a matter of repetition and being able to play along with the original track.
Bringing me back to my youth Marty. Thanks for the new lesson, it is one of my favorite Hendrix songs!!!
Joe Burger
Great lesson Man! Than you so much! Loved how Jimi Hendrix made everything sound like he was improvising everything...very organic!! ✌🏻🎸
He didnt make it sound like he was improvising. He was improvising. Thats what made it so good and soulful. Like voodoo child slight return. Was winged in the studio. And its incredible
Best classic rock teacher on the internet...Marty, thanks and keep rockin'
You are such a guitar stud dude... You have taught me tons of songs I didnt think I could ever pull off... Much love man!
Marty I like the way you break it down, all the parts of this song are coming together for me, great lesson, I appreciate it thank you
Thank you so much dude! Whenever i want to learn a new Hendrix tune I always come across your channel! Much love from Argentina
Finally have it under my fingers after many years, thany you Marty.
Thank you Marty , i can't describe how much i learned from your videos about playing the guitar .
Great breakdown Marty! Thanks for unraveling the chord changes and what is happening over the top of them.
"Superhuman thumbs!" that cracked me up :)
Marty, such a great tutorial to one of my favorite Hendrix solos. I just love how you narrated, repeated, kept in context the whole thing!! Bravo and THANKS!
Dear Marty, you have a new guitar lover, Purple Haze was the very first Jimi Hendrix song I acquired in December 1969, Jimi past away a few months after, I was barely 10 years old and listened to it over and over until I bought his first opus "Are You Experienced" this LP was a slap in the face, but when I first listened to the second "Axis: Bold A Love" on acid then I realized the extent of Hendrix's genius, so I bought all the records of this great artist who died too soon. It's very hard for me to say which Jimi song I like the most (I love them all, whether it's his own compositions or covers), the only thing I can say is that "The Wind Cries Mary" is definitely one among many others I always wanted to be able to play on guitar, and the way you dispensed the technique of this most poetic song is just wonderful and brilliant in its simplicity. I thank you for it, because finally I could really learn it in its entirety thanks to the two videos made with a rare pedagogy. Thanks again
Learned my first Hendrix Solo from you- Thanks Marty- You have a great teaching style.
I have to say thank you for all your very good guitar lessons. I have improved my guitar skills since the day I found your videos.
Good day Marty like you tutorial I been watching the wind cry merry 👍 love to see you play tutorial from chuck berry , C’est la vie thank you...you are good teaching👏👏
Nothin' but facts! Thanks, man. Great lesson on essential Hendrix.

Awesome! Can't walk past my guitar without picking it up and playing this for about three days now,
Amazing tutorial. I´ve been following you for a long time. You´re but the best, of the best. Thank you for teaching us so well.
I just learned the whole song from your two videos, and I'm just very happy thanks man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is VERY good stuff, teachership, musicianship. Thank you very much Marty!
Hey Marty could you do a lesson on “Jungle” by Jimi Hendrix. That would be great 👍
Guess not
Needs to be done
I agree thats one of the rare tracks people need to learn
Been playin this song for like 3 yrs now never knowing the full solo, that g zone part was the part always throwin me off, now i got this time to go play it now at the park and show off haha.
Marty, you're the best tutor I've seen online. Thank you for your skill and clarity, and keep up the good work.
Thank you Marty..I like your teaching style. I was approaching this song all wrong and you cleared it up.
I saw a video; wish I could find it again, of Jimi playing this live in a studio with a small audience, and it showed the fingering he used to play the "Don't Let Me Down" lick at the end of the solo. (16:15).
Knowing Jimi, he may have played it both ways depending on how he felt that day, but in this case, instead of playing it how shown anchored on the 10th fret of the D string,
Jimi anchored on the 15th fret of the A string, and hammered on the 17th.
then the third note of the phrase on the D string/15th fret has above it on the 15th fret/G and B strings the rest of the B flat major triad that can be played as a double, or even triple stop.
Then while still anchored it walks down to the 17th fret of the E string to double-stop it with the anchored A string/15th fret.
which then is all set up to glissando down the E and A strings to start the next verse.
Try it. You'll like it.
Hey man, could never get that roadhouse lick quite right. Thanks for setting me on the straight and narrow. You've got no idea how happy it makes me to have this solo down now. Thank you!!!
That lick is definitely the trickiest in the bunch because he times it very unlike how we tend to learn the lick in blues. He does the bend, then does a sorta 4 - 3 sorta grouping. Took me some time also to really slow it down and see where the notes land in the beat to understand it. Now that i understand it, it's no prob. But at first, yikes, a real pickle. Lol
very beatiful strat right here! Love it Marty keep rocking
Hi Marty, learned something unexpected this morning...singing the little solo bits helps! This is going to take some work, but fun so far! Thank you! :-)
Marty thank you so much. You are by far the best on here. You're fantastic.
This was great! Excellent instructions!!!
I was just looking for this solo on CZcams a few hours ago but now I have a version from the legend himself
Marty your work ethics are absolutely unparalleled. Lots to learn from 😘😃🎶
Thank you Marty very much, I always had a problem with this solo, you clarified things completely. Just like jimi man! Great
I’ve tried learning this by tab several times with no success, I sit down and use this video and pretty much have the solo nailed after one play through (stopping and rewinding where I need to, getting the timing of the blues lick is a killer for me). Thanks for posting good content and breaking the solos into easy to remember sections
I love the way these lessons come around again on your new MM channel. I needed a review and it's much easier the second time around. I never had this quite right. Now I get it. Thanks Marty!
Excellent job! Whoever gave you thumbs down needs a smack!👍😀
Marty I hear the first part of the solo differently.
He slides up to the F on the 15th fret 4th string the first time…….but while he does then play the 4th interval on the 1st and 2nd strings at the 13th fret as you show….C and F…….he then quickly hammers on the C note to the D on the 15th fret so it’s now D and F. Plus he slides down quickly after that.
Other than that, nicely done as always. You have a great feel.
i like watching marty's lessons cause the way he delivers is very fun and clear. Love you man!
Great insight into Hendrix and how he puts a tune together. love it.
Best lesson videos. Very thorough.
I could spend 20 minutes deciphering a tab just so I can start to learn a lead, or spend 20 minutes with Marty and actually know the lead by the end of the video. Thanks, Marty.
I've never seen you playing that strat I love it awesome guitar
Thank you Marty. Now I need to find a backing track to practice to.
Yes. I love that blues fender tone.
Thanks marty got the song and solo sorta down pat thanks man you’re the best
Awesome lesson Marty. Thank you.
Love this solo. Thank you so much !
Such lovely guitar and an even better lesson great work!
Thanks Marty. This was honestly damn excellent!
Killer tone, and lesson as usual Marty. Thank you sensei.🙏
Thanks Marty you’re amazing
Great explanations! Fabulous solo, one the the very best
Pretty awesome lesson. Songs great.. although I learned it a little different with a hammer on, or 2 more than you just showed. However, it still sounds great and just like Jimmi's recorded version. If you weren't watching you play it, and just listening, you couldn't even tell any difference. Love that Strat, to. Its awesome.
Man that's one of the best solos ever
This was great, thanks for putting this together. That guitar sounds amazing!
Such an excellent solo and lesson, Thanks Marty!
Well Marty.... You are The Man. After a few weeks (on/off), I got through the whole solo. Now it is a matter of getting it solid in memory (muscle) and to smooth out a few jumps up here and there. Yeay!! Truly I thank you. Now on to working on the John Mayer Solo c/o Wheel.
You Are Awesome Marty Thank You
Sooo freaking good , thank you.
Beautiful playing Marty!
