- TOP THRILL 2 Trains REVEALED! Cedar Point 2024
Cedar Point and ZAMPERLA reveal the real train for Cedar Point's new 2024 addition, Top Thrill 2. The ride is a redo of the famous Top Thrill Dragster, with Cedar Point choosing Zamperla as the manufacturer for the project, instead of Intamin, the original manufacturer of Top Thrill Dragster. The move has created quite the buzz in the theme park industry, and many are wondering if they'll be able to pull it off!
"Top Thrill 2, the world’s TALLEST and FASTEST triple-launch strata coaster. This record-breaking, next generation motorsport machine races a course unlike any other on the planet. You’re first launched forward, then, launch backward and rise into the sky on a new vertical tower... A third launch rockets you forward at 120 mph, sending you on a race to the stratosphere before reaching the finish line." - Cedar Point
Top Thrill 2 trains revealed at IAAPA Expo in Orlando Florida.
them wheels are huge! I love this train!
This train is beautifully made and I love the coaster for it too! Looks amazing guys!❤
The openess on these trains is fantastic, omg I can't wait to feel how they perform.
Zamperla is on the up and up, congrats to them and to CP
That Could Be My Favorite Train Design! I Can’t Wait To Ride It! 🤩🎢
Jeez that train looks slick!!!! Can’t wait to see the end product next year🙌🏻
Wow😲
Those trains are absolutely gorgeous!😍 The technology involved in the engineering of the new wheels, (to anyone with half a brain) will answer any of the questions about heat. These trains are going to give so much Freedom...Should be an incredible experience. Now lets hope the ride itself comes through as good as these trains. Because if they do, I'm calling it now we could be looking at Golden tickets new ride of the year 2024
Got to say it. These lightning trains better then the old trains. So sleek and beautiful. If this ride works out we've got a major player in Zamperla
Looks like a nice train. 20 riders per train so hoping the lines aren’t too long.
That is a beautiful train! I just hope the train goes higher than the promo video shows on the first and second launches.
The trains look amazing but they still should have went with Intamin imo.
Cedar Fair is stubborn when it comes to wanting to work with Intamin again.
Budget. They said they looked at Intamins proposal in an interview and Zamperla had the better pricing.
Cedar Point definitely talked to Intamin, unfortunately Intamin had a MUCH higher cost and wanted to do more with the layout. So as Enthusiasts, yes we probably would have loved it, however because of Cedar Point's plans for the IMMEDIATE future as far as expansions, they didn't want to overspend On Top Thrill 2
Well, Zamperla seems to be going the same route as Vekoma in that they’re making a huge jump in quality so I’m not mad. I would say TT2 lacks a new element apart from the spike, like a heartline roll or a little airtime hill or something, which is what I think Intamin would’ve done. Still I’m pretty excited for what this could lead to next
How will you know until the ride is finished ?
Adding some lights for the night time would have been a major pop!
Impressive job, Zamperla. 👏🇮🇹
I guess we’ll see about that consistency!
The train looks great! I'm probably never gonna ride it because top thrill 2 is way too extreme for me but the train looks beautiful.
It’s amazing that Cedar Point has been able to lead the nation’s amusement parks with the best roller coasters year after year and this for a park that’s only open half of the year. Just think what they’d do if they were in a warm state all year long….👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
That’s true, at least the off season gives time for renovations like this one.
Absolutely gorgeous.
Forza Zamperla!
Wonderfull engineering!! Beautiful Fast Car!!!
I like how they actually added a spoiler on the back again! If you didn’t know, the TTD actually had a mock spoiler on the back of the train for the first year, but it got removed, I forget why.
They added another row of seats in place of the tires and rear wing.
@@flipslips2192 Yeah I know that, but I remember there being some other issue with the mock spoiler causing problems for the trains or something.
I'm glad zamperla is doing this give intamin a competitor
Definitely.
Big Ass "Wagon Wheels"! Cool Trains!!!
These trains look awesome!
Man i cant wait to ride next year
That's a thing of beauty
tho i still liked the ride to be by intamin, a new coaster manufacturer rising up will definitely increase the variety in the industry, i dont think zamperla will grow to the scale of b&m and intamin, but maybe to the scale of mack and vekoma
It’s beautiful 🤩
Bradley in need of a bunny hop with the small slow launches it won't be intense at all. Smooth and fun sure. Intense booe
Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
Look at the progress they’ve made! Cedar point closed at the end of October and the spike is already at 400 feet! They are pushing hard so they have plenty of time to get the bugs out before opening day. Zamperla is gonna pull it off.
amazing 😮😮😮😮
The logo is suspiciously similar to that of Colgate-Palmolive.
Wide open trains should make this ride thrilling
Those wheels look AMAZING! I sure hope they don't cause the ride any issues in May!
Skyrush looking trains (which i personally love)
I cant wait
Wow! Unbelievable.
Now that Six Flags going take over this park.....
It’s actually shared
7:00 starts the actual train reveal if you wanna skip the BS chatter. You're welcome.
Did he say arrow dynamic😏😏😏
This aged well lmao
Never been done....400' spike tower- magic mountain, swing launch-take your pick, weak launch- Mack....
... sexy trains tho
That garbage at Magic Mountain is not even in the same category and never has been that's why it's never been in the conversation😂😂😂
@@huddyr1112 yeah, well it was built 26 years ago
It was way ahead of its time lol. at least the launch on that does 100 one way and doesn't need to go back and forth lmfao.@@huddyr1112
@@huddyr1112That "garbage" is the same experience that TT2 will be as far as the spike goes, except instead of going from ~0-100mph backwards, you'll be going from ~74-100mph backwards. So yeah, you could argue TT2's backwards launch is even less impressive than a ride that opened in 1997.
2024 is truly the year of the rollercoaster
Missed the opportunity to have seats facing each other
I feel bad for the Fibrart booth...hopefully they get some extra foot traffic from this.
I come from the future with warning!
I wouldn't want to be near that thing if there's a catastrophic wheel fragmentation failure. There should be a carbon fiber cowling to catch debris should that happen, just as airline turbofan engines have a CF ring to contain a broken fan blade. Having the wheels exposed is going to fling shrapnel all over the place.
Will the seats accommodate larger heavier people?
That's impossible
Is this the first train of its kind on top thrill 2??
Six flags is like..Kingda Ka is next to take the record again..
It won't. Falcon's Flight blows Kingda Ka out of the water with every record.
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I just hope they're not the over the head restraints. They need to be freedom like with top thrill 1
they arent just the lapbar but theres metal poles holding it from the side
Cannot see any overhead restraints there. The restraint system looks to those on new Intamins like Toutatis or Pantheon, or on Mack Rides like Time Traveller/RideTo Happiness or DC Rivals . They are attached to the car at shoulder height, but you only have a lap bar and nothing above your shoulder.
"Make the ride better than before" Baaahahahahahahahahaha
i mean it will.it will not be down all the time LOL
Purely on an operational perspective true, but ride wise, it'll be so bad in comparison...
Cool seeing you here lance. And Lol on the "make it better"
Just imagine if Intamin had there hands on this!! Thats who they should of worked with.
In April/May everyone will be bitching about the lap pad.. I notice that little indention for in-between you legs.
My question where are the seat belts attachments for it
They seem to be intamin style restraints, so it shouldn’t need seatbelts
@@ethanshackleton yeah but for Cedar Point in the issues they already have they should have those seat belts for some of these guys and I think they're not going to annoy regardless of now they're becoming Six Flags under Cedar fairs deciding using the name but I think it's going to be more to it than I realize what they're going to do with the safety issue I think they need to have it
@@adreamalways14 can you say that again clearer, and with punctuation. its a nightmare to read
@terg8472 sir seatbelt for the ride ,by ohio law I thought they were mandatory for all amusement parks rides
I wonder if we'll need water sprayed on the wheels since the ride now breaches 100mph 3 times in the layout... and its more sustained than previously 😅
The point of the new wheels is to improve heat dissipation, it shouldn’t need it if designed well
6TH
"Arms down head back and hold on" the greatest effects for ttd but now its just corny . No more arms down
Id keep an eye out for those little bolts coming loose that holds the seats. Aluminum being more flexible, electrolysis, and changing temperature quicker will have more chance to make
the bolts come loose.
That’s what I was thinking. So they will have to check every bolt with each daily inspection? Wouldn’t that be the smart thing to do? I personally would prefer a welded train, but curious to see how these trains feel. I can see them feeling more rigid. This could possibly affect the entire overall ride experience in a negative way if it is not glass smooth. Skeptical but excited!
Well see how this ends up…..still wish it was Intamin….
The trains look like a coaster built for Russia 🙈
Looks like Hot Wheels!
F1.
They funneled AGAIN, now in takin and six flags is gonna take the title again with their falcon ride coming to their six flags park in Saudi…
So it will have top heavy trains and they'll be shaking down the launch track??
trains look good but does everyone remember seeing a brand new aluminum framed ford crunch like a bud light can?? js aluminum is weaker than steel.
Thankfully these are on a track and aren’t gonna get crushed or wreck into a wall
Audi A8 is all aluminium and has been for 30 years and four generations
@@ScapoloMichael and you wonder why most audis are broken into pieces when they crash.
@@DJbickythemaster "most audis" as you so eloquently put it, are not aluminium. The A2 and the A8 are aluminium and possibly the R8. The Jaguar XJ has also been all aluminium in its last two generations, as have any number of premium performance cars from Germany & Italy.
If we're comparing, Corvettes have plastic body panels
Zamoerla isnanstruggle coaster manufacure, rheir bigger coasters are rough, they do not have a trqckbrecoed to make a good non family roller coaster, they were picked due to price
DO NOT PUT CARBON FIBER ON A CART NOO
Top thrill dragster is missed not excited for this crap
Why are people so excited for this? The launches suck, the spike is like superman escape from krypton which nobody talks about, and the only good part is the intamin part left. As someone where Cedar Point is my home park, this is the biggest disappointment in CP history. I hope this ride is still unreliable and fails so Kinda Ka and Xcelerator don’t get the same treatment. I miss old dragster so much and think this will disappoint so many people. L Cedar Point
At least the spiral down will be better because the new trains are higher up with less lateral support. But that’s like the only good part. Not better than original TTD. It’s like turning steel vengeance into mean streak.
Welp thoosies can never be impressed
@@Themeparkfan630 i understand them this time because all they did was make the launch weaker, and they didnt even add a hill like kingda ka. if they were gonna make it lsms; atleast add something after the drop, cause this is cedar point right?
They look kinda bland
Very underwhelming. They should have let Intamin do the reimagining. They would have done it properly I think. Zamperla is in way over their heads with this one. This thing will probably have more downtime then the original. Look at the issues they had with that pathetic Wild Mouse, which sucks by the way. PS, maybe Six Flags will fire Tony Ckark. Tired of his face and listening to him.
Yeah this might suck, but aside from the first week what are the issues with wild mouse? I have never seen it down once
Awesome trains for a disappointing ride
No seatbelts, gonna lose a lot of kids attraction for this ride most parents will not let them ride a coaster going 120 mphs no seatbelt. Should rethink about your business moves Cedar fair.
Tony should be fired!!! CP has went down the Toilet since they put in Millenium Force! Then he authorized a Wild Mouse??!!!! Come on! Remember 1989?? When Cedar Point stood for Record Breaking Coasters?!!! My home Park is crap now. All because of Tony.
Whaaaa
Cry harder
@moekitsune7651 I know right.
