If you watched his real world season you would know he’s like this because of race. Sometimes he allows his want to protect all black people to blind him from seeing the situation for what it is and not use race as a main defense point. Even if he doesn’t say race is the reason out loud. It caused him problems on the show and has followed him at times through the years. His heart seems to be in the right place but he is wrong at times and needs to be called out on it.

Yep, I would have straight up lost it. And I would have been ashamed of myself, but I'm ND and this level of shameless gas lighting and lack of logic/research is a massive trigger to me as I've experienced it before. A lot. So she's a complete champion for staying calm, I love her for it. But if she'd lost it, I would have got that too. I take social contracts very seriously, so when other people pretend they don't exist so they can get away with bad behaviour, I lose my ability to stay calm.

Honestly, that was my feeling too after seeing the narrative of the show/the way he conducted the interview en treated the guests, but i was sort of doubting myself in that conclusion (it's not a lens through which i often look at interactions between people and situations) so glad to read your comment and sharing that feeling. I think he was just completely ill-(at best)/unprepared and figured the customer was probably just another Karen being overly critical on a hard working independent black young woman/mother and her small business and the customer just being bitter and jealous and having nothing better to do than unleashing her frustrations about her general life by harassing this young, energetic, creative woman that, despite all the struggles life has thrown at her, is determined and paving her way to succes and wealth. Karamo could in that situation easily take the role of the "voice of reason" and "pro communicator and relationship expert" (with the whole " you hear what she's saying, but can you receive it?" Type bullshit) act like he wants all women to "lift each other up" and "live their best life without toxic vibes and energy" or whatever while simultaneously boosting one and completely shutting the other up lol

Dude honestly. Before my opinion of Karamo PLUMMETED I would’ve expected him to pick up on that detail.
When Jaclyn Hill had her mess with her lipsticks, we were concerned about them since the lipsticks had direct contact with the skin and could be ingested. Many sent the products they bought with their own money to labs to test the lipsticks and no one complained about that. Even when Jaclyn and others tried to spin it like an “empowered” business woman making a tiny mistake in a “very small” amount of lipsticks, everybody agreed that sending the lipsticks to a lab was the best to make sure they were really safe to use.
Why shouldn’t people question “chef” Pi? Her product is being ingested, that’s literally what the product is made for. I honestly felt so disappointed because it looks like Karamo did very little research on this woman. If he thinks that alluredbeauty started the drama then he’s just an idiot. He literally let her tell her sob story about being a hardworking businesswoman but ignored completely the fact that she didn’t know why the FOOD and Drugs Administration had to approve the FOOD she was selling.

Deleting the episode and not addressing that he made a mistake makes Karamo a coward in my opinion. But that's just me, I won't support him and I don't think others should until he apologizes. I just don't like the idea that he seems to expect freedom from consequences when he is out there doing actual damage, gaslighting, and bullying people on his show when he's saying stuff like "your power is in what you're saying and what you're doing..." Edit: Since some "big brain" people want to assume things and get easily butt hurt, let me tell you about this successful plant-based food truck business ran by a black couple in the town that I am in. They are very chill and made no mention whatsoever about the food truck being "black-owned". They let their products speak for themselves. And also unlike Chef Pi they actually are able to take constructive criticism and feedback. The great part is that they literally have no negative reviews. The only thing close to feed backs that the couple gets is on adding other plant -based dishes to their menu which they have tried and successfully done. Mind-blowing isn't it? Some of you need to get off your feelings and get some common sense.

I was really let down by Karamo. I am a huge fan of the Fab 5 and this really upset me. It felt manipulative and I REALLY didn't appreciate the gaslighting. SUPER TRIGGERING! His behavior was just gross.

remember when Jacqueline Hill came out with terrible lipsticks? All kinds of people gave her terrible reviews, at least she apologized and tried to make it right. It’s totally the norm to get bad reviews of products that aren’t great! I’ve seen a ton of bad reviews for designer brands, even.
Yeah, no one shamed the people getting lab tests done on them, because everyone could see they weren't trying to "take down a female business owner", there were very legitimate safety concerns that are only magnified in the Pink Sauce case, as the whole point of it is to be ingested.
Didn't she just re-send more bad lipstick at first, then start ignoring people? I know she claimed she was giving refunds, but for months afterwards people were saying they didn't receive it and that they couldn't get in contact with anyone.
I remember that incident - some reviewers were criticized but were ultimately right - there were hairs, and allegedly metal pieces embedded in the lipsticks themselves and it was a hazard. If I also remember correctly the batch numbers were called into question and people had a toss up on having bad products and good products - some had no complaints at all. I dislike Hill but she handled her business hiccup gracefully unlike Pii.

I know there have been talk show hosts before who have handled stuff badly, Jenny Jones comes to mind. For those of you unaware of quite frankly the biggest mess a talk show host has ever been involved with, Jenny Jones had a secret crush/admirer episode where people who had admired or crushed on someone would finally tell them on air, in front of a studio audience. One guest was a young gay man who had a crush on his co-worker. Everything seemed fine and harmless, however, within DAYS of the episode airing, the young gay man was murdered by the co-worker.
When this first happened, there were a lot of misinformation about what happened and since this was before the internet, there wasn’t much way to fact check what happened. But Jenny Jones had to testify at the co-worker’s trial and she said she thought he received the news fairly well, there was a hug, and the two went to dinner. That was actually the beginning of the end for her talk show. She was never able to recover from what happened as many blamed her for her hand in it. Featuring a gay man telling his crush he liked him in front of millions of viewers not long after a gay man was brutally murdered did NOT sit right with anyone. Not to mention in the early 90s coming out was more of a life or death situation for many.
Anyway, what he did might not be as bad as what Jenny did, however, he straight up gaslit, downplayed, and even was condescending to a woman while an audience cheered him on. Horrible, horrible situation to be sure.
I remember this it was awful. The guy who got told someone fancied him looked pretty happy until he saw it was a man. But it was crazy that he murdered the gay guy.

I believe there were quite a few changes after that INCLUDING no one ever doing a secret crush/admirer episode since that one. I could be wrong (I am by no means talking about shows in other countries) but I used to watch A LOT of daytime talk shows and I seem to recall many thinking that subject matter was far, far too dangerous.
Even if Chef Pii is now working with a company to produce pink sauce, I would never give my $$$ to someone with so little self awareness and lack of accountability. To be the head of a successful company takes a lot of responsibility and she admitted that her customers "are not special". She didn't even care about endagering their safety.

Thank you for bringing more information to light about this whole fiasco. The fact that Pii used the word “infamous” on her original bottle and didn’t know the F in FDA stands for food speaks volumes. Sometimes you need to admit you don’t know everything in the whole damn world and put your hubris aside to run a successful business. I hope she can learn and grow from this. Ally definitely doesn’t need to learn anything here. She was the only one making any damn sense on that show and she was pummeled for it.

The one thing I'd say is that it would be to her own benefit for Ally to learn how to recognize when she's being bullied, and how to stand up for herself in those situations. But learning how to think on your feet and rhetorically defend yourself in such a highly slanted situation is a highly developed skill. So the other skill would be to learn to be suspicious of talk show invites and plan for the worst possible scenario. The only things she said that didn't make sense (but are completely understandable in such a hostile environment) were the statements that gave ANY credit to the host or Chef Pii, who together said zero things that made sense.
I hate that despite all this drama and despite her being completely braindead when it comes to the food industry, she's still going to win. She still has a deal with a large food company and some people are unfortunately still on her side.
