After Japan surrender, they're basically become a US vassal. They can't build planes without US permission. It's the only way to keep us all safe from this:
On the same day as the Pearl Harbor attack, Japanese planes bombed several U.S. bases in the Philippines, including Clark Field. The bombing destroying almost all of a new fleet of P-40 fighters and B-17 bombers, as well as many other military planes. The attack was the beginning of a five-month campaign that killed and wounded thousands, including those killed in the Bataan Death March of April 1942.
In the Bataan Death March, about 75,000 Filipino and American troops on the Bataan Peninsula on the Philippine island of Luzon were forced to make an arduous 65-mile march to prison camps. After the U.S. surrender of the Bataan Peninsula in 1942 during World War II, the Japanese took control of the area, and the prisoner of war (POWs) were subjected to brutal treatment by Japanese guards. An estimated 17,000 men perished during and after the Bataan Death March.

China is claiming the WHOLE South China Sea as its own sovereign territory , - just because the name "South China Sea" has the word " China" in it. .

Why allow families in China to raise multiple kids, only for them to starve to death, succumb to childhood diseases, and having not enough food, not enough hospitals, and not enough schools to send them all to?
Why not make families focus all available resources into raising a single, healthy kid into adulthood, and get him into a good school, instead of spreading resources thin over raising multiple kids, who perish before reaching adulthood? That's how China was able reduce poverty and increase literacy. Because of One-Child Policy
Look at India, world's 2nd largest population country, and India is suffering from high birth rate, high child malnutrition, high child mortality, high illiteracy and other population problems that China once suffered from in the past.

U$ have NO obligation to defend the dispute maritime areas.
Document 578 of American Foreign Policy Basic Documents 1977-1980 is a 1979 letter to then-Philippine Minister of Foreign Affairs Carlos Romulo, in which Vance further clarified the U.S. legal interpretation of the MDT. He declared that armed attack under the MDT refers to external armed aggression against any part of Philippine metropolitan territory as defined by the 1898 Treaty of Paris between Spain and the U.S. and the 1900 Treaty of Washington between Great Britain and the U.S. (amended in 1930), as well as island territories in the Pacific that are under Philippine jurisdiction. Moreover, “armed attack on any Philippine armed forces, public vessels or aircraft in the Pacific would not have to occur within the Philippine metropolitan territory or island territory under its jurisdiction in the Pacific in order to come within the definition of Pacific Area in Article V.” Thus, armed attack on said forces or vessels taking place in undisputed maritime areas in the South China Sea would fall within the scope of the MDT.
