- Hey guys!
Today we are going to look at some new phobias. Weird and uncommon ones.
Some of these make a little sense, but others name no sense to me at all. That's phobias for ya!
Thanks for watching!

The whole thing with food getting stuck to the roof of the mouth can be common for people with autism, not exactly a phobia but a sensory difference and can be super uncomfortable or make people wanna vomit. Thanks for the cool video đ„°
I also know someone whoâs autistic with a fear of the colour yellow, this was linked strongly to their fear of bees and wasps due to their stingers and the noise they make when they buzz around!
I always imagine the peanut butter thing being related to the sensation of choking, like it's stuck on the top your mouth, you can't swallow it, will it also get stuck going down too?
Exactly what I was thinking about. The fear can also stem first from sensory issues people who are autistic experience.
Ofc it can come from other experiences, like traumatic experiences, but autism can definitely cause/contribute to fears like that.
So I was right to think all these absurd phobias are just phobias in the sense of "rejection" and not "fear". Like "hydrophobic" in chemistry. Thats really stupid to name them phobias then. and frankly reeks of tiktok girls trying to be special.
@@habibishapur phobic can mean dislike or fear I thought yeah? so it works for either
imagining him every morning going "Ah! I'm awake!" in the same tone, every time he came into consciousness makes me very happy. it just seems right for him
Free Guy morning routine lol
I donât understand how this isnât more popular. Like fr he got good quality footage and audio, entertaining content, educational, funny, like WHAT HOW IS THIS 600 views and not 600k
Thata always what ive thought too.
Its most likely the algorithm that isnât recommending his videos at all, at least Iâd guess so
Yes
Welp. Iâve arrived. CZcams always recommends me shit 1 month away from said shit blowing the fuck up. No idea how tf you guys found this dude. But, Yee. Give him like 3 more months.
I'm gatekeeping him, hope you guys can understand my feelings ,â€ïž
Coming in late with my comment here, but on top of thalassophobia, I also have a phobia of sunflowers! Helianthophobia. The ones with the super dark centers freak me out the most. Something about them just seems like the abyss staring back. Like....I imagine them with an almost alien sentience. It's real dumb to other people but I've literally had nightmares about giant sunflowers lol
My friend's mom's garden had some long-dead, dried out sunflowers. I can see where you're coming from with that. Those things were tall and super creepy looking.
---
I've just now decided to Google dead sunflowers to confirm if what were in the garden were sunflowers - I'd always just assumed that's what they were - and Google images did not show what I saw... Now I'm even more afraid of what ever those places were... Hopefully they're still just dead sunflowers and Google images just has dumb results lol.
Yea theyâre freaky fs
I can actually understand that phobia, I have nephophobia or the fear of clouds. I donât like their size and how they can just cover the sun at will, the movie Nope fucked be up even more with the alien being disguised as a cloud. Seeing clouds more massive that Everest during a flight is my worst nightmare.
I feel like the fear of opening eyes is sort of the same as not knowing what is there when you open them. This being like thalassophobia where its like the unknown of not knowing whats in the darkness. Like turning on a flashlight in a dark sewer hoping that you dont see something duck behind a corner or watching you. It the same way with opening your eyes it goes from darkness to seeing things and the unknown of what coulde be standing infront of you when you open your eyes.
Yeah, hard to make sense out something that's inherently irrational. I've had mornings where I couldn't open my eyes and the more I thought about it the more anxiety I got. No explanation. Just something that passes in my case.
Kinda Sounds annoying
I have a rare phobia called Botanophobia. It is the fear of plants . Not all plants bother me (for example succulents are normally fine) but anything to leafy or vine like scares me like nothing else does. I wonât eat a lot of vegetables, and I canât touch almost any plants without spiraling into a panic attack. I canât have a plant in the room where Iâm sleeping because Iâm convinced that the plant will attack me in my sleep. Iâm working on it with my therapist tho!
Just thought Iâd share this here because I havenât been able to relate to anyone about this. Does anyone else here have a rare or little known phobia?
I wonder if the peanut butter one stems from choking? When I was younger I choked on melted cheese and also on spaghetti, and for the longest time I was terrified to eat them. Even to this day I donât eat either, scared of the cheese still and I just donât like spaghetti. The fear could also come from the bug thing? Isnât there a certain amount of bug pieces that are allowed in peanut butter? I was also scared of lasagna because my step mom told me it was made with bugs.
I think the peanut butter thing is definitely because of choking on peanut butter or something with a similar texture.
I had something similar happen when I almost choked on arugula. Since then I refuse to eat it. It's not a crippling fear or anything but I would never eat it voluntarily.
I nearly choked to death on an ice cube once then I was little. I still like ice in my drinks, but I am a lot more careful now.
Choking on something in general is not a fun experience, like if it's something sharp (like the edges of an ice cube) or something that can easily clog up your throat (like peanut butter).
This was exactly what I was thinking about, like these fears can also stem first from sensory issues that people who are autistic experience.
Ofc it can come from other experiences, but autism can definitely cause/contribute to fears like that.
weighing in again, I think it's way more often that certain numbers are ptsd triggers rather than specifically being afraid of the number. Avoidance like that can lead to phobias developing
Regarding arithmophobia - if you were talking about a dyslexia-like condition, that's dyscalculia. In my case (and I'm sure it's different for each person) anything beyond simple calculations like single digit addition causes me extreme anxiety and brain freeze where you absolutely can't calm down enough to properly focus and solve the equation. What triggers the spiral is when I'm put on the spot, or a time limit, and have to do mental math to solve it. It came about because of a multitude of negative childhood experiences with people who would verbally abuse and occasionally physically slap me when I got questions wrong or took too long to answer. Math was my only problem subject so it was extra frustrating for my grades. I got better with it as I got older by slowly reteaching myself on my own and playing math games. But even today, if I'm having a bad time for whatever reason, I can completely embarrass myself by not being able to do simple equations that would take someone else a second. It can get to the point where I can't even read numbers properly. Exposure therapy works in this case though :)
Hi, I have fear of math problems too, and especially with time limit, yes I totally feel you. Iâve been abused in childhood too when I solved problems wrong, sometimes my teacher even humiliated me in front of class. I still hate solving math stuff and I avoid it as much as i can, and I tend to stumble alot when I read long numbers. Through I can read letter words very well.
I think this is pretty much my favorite YT channel by now, no loud, obnoxious intros, just kinda like hanging with friends on a lazy afternoon and talking about weird internet stuff, pretty wholesome
The fear of showering or bathing sometimes has to do with being SA therefore just being unclothed while bathing makes them uncomfortable, I can attest to that from experience. Not us wanting to be gross, when youâre depressed to the point you donât want to be around just the thought of bathing seems like climbing a mountain. đ
Came to the comments to see if anyone said this, thanks for making me feel less alone †I have these issues too and showering can be impossible, I use a wet towel sometimes instead if I can lol đ weâre surviving out here
In regards to the ânot getting over it thingâ. Yeah. Iâve tried inflicting exposure therapy to myself for spiders. Just, starts by not killing one. Analyzing it. Researching. Than touching it. Picking it up. Naming it. Etc. now I canât kill spiders. But, Iâm even more scared of them. Cuz my brain is now able to accurately deliver them into my dreams in 4 k.
I woke up from a nightmare once, unable to move or speak. I was covered with them in that nightmare, and it felt like they were still there when I woke up. I canât even say the word without going into panic mode.
Ablutophobia probably has to do with sensory processing issues, so it makes sense it's seen more in kids because they haven't learned to regulate.
Think about what a sensory experience it is being in water; how it feels on your skin, the immersiveness of being in a full bathtub or under a running shower, temperature, the transparent & reflective qualities of water, the sounds (running water, splashing, even the sound made when you move your hand/arm/etc. through water), the feeling of water in your eyes or ears, the feeling of it running through your hair or wetting it & weighing it down, the random drips that are unpredictable. Then add in the sensations of the actual cleaning of the body; the texture & smell of the soap, how it changes dramatically when you lather, the feeling of a loofah/sponge/washcloth against the skin (& how that changes rapidly, as well; it starts dry, then gets wet & heavy & probably changes color a bit, then the soap covering & saturating it). Then there's also the feeling of clean skin; as you go through your day & get dirty, unless you work an active or outdoor job the process of getting dirty is very subtle & gradual whereas the process of becoming clean is very quick & noticeable.
Good breakdown
I don't have any phobia similar to this but I also always try to help people understand how certain things may be frightening, disturbing or overwhelming to others
My daughter is 4 years old, and she has this. We were told she would grow out of this fear, but she still screams and cries and hyperventilates in fear in the bath or shower. Although doctors are suspecting Autism diagnosis. It's probably a sensory/over stimulation thing they say.
Iâm surprised penduluphobia (?) isnât on here. Itâs so rare itâs not even considered official yet. Itâs a fear of hanging/swinging things. As someone who has it, itâs an absolute nasty and terrifying thing to have when youâre surrounded by things that move and shake in the wind đ„Č
Interesting, do you have an idea what couldâve caused your fear?
I work in healthcare and I had a resident with something similar to Optophobia. She wouldnât close her eyes at all or blink. She had a sitter that would put drops in her eyes. She would lose her mind when the drops would be applied because it blurred her vision some. Iâm thinking itâs tied to being scared of the dark or even being scared of missing something. She did develop schizophrenia and was severely sleep deprived since she refused to have her light off at any time and close her eyes to sleep. We had to send her out multiple times for psych evaluations and the last one she didnât return, she was removed from the system and her belongings were removed from the room the same day she went out. Iâm not 100% sure if sheâs alive or if she got admitted to a psychiatric facility for her schizophrenia
I don't really understand optophobia, but I do believe I have a phobia a bit on the opposite side of the spectrum. When I was younger I woke up a day, but I couldn't open my eyes for some reason nor my mouth. I tried multiple times but failed and started to panic and thrash around wildly. After a while I got them open. It was honestly one of the most anxiety inducing experiences of my life. Ever since then I would immediately freak out when someone covers my eyes or mouth. Games like Marko Polo are utterly terrifying to me especially when people decide to poke me, so I tend to avoid playing that at all cost. I developed insomnia because of it being too afraid to close my eyes for long periods of time afraid I won't open them ever again. Same with my mouth. Don't know if I explained this fear of mine well, but I hope you all will understand it somewhat.
I think you had sleep paralysis it's pretty common. It basically happens when your brain is awake but your body is still in sleep mode and you can't move it.
I was obsessed with the thought of waking up blind as a teenager. I could only sleep badly and with lights on. I was really afraid of falling asleep. Once I was sleeping in a tent with my scout group and my flashlight which I kept on inside my sleeping bag died. I was in complete darkness and was convinced I went blind so I panicked and woke everyone. It never actually happened and I grew out of it but I think it's similar to what you describe.
I havenât been diagnosed with any of these. However, I find that my anxiety levels rise rapidly when around other teenagers despite being one myself. Iâm not sure if itâs just social anxiety or something because Iâm more afraid of judgement. I always fear that they think I look weird or act weird or make fun of my height or looks or hair colour or something. Itâs really difficult for me to stay in one place when there are other kids around
I have Ablutophobia, it started when I was a child. Probably from movies like What Lies Beneath and The Ring. I canât get in a bath, it creeps me out. I shower daily but it takes me a long time to trust a bathroom and I have to organise it in a very particular way. Itâs a weird Another one is pigs. I think it started with the pig vat in Saw 3. I realised that I had a phobia around pigs when I visited a farm. They asked if we wanted to see the pigs and I started to panic.
Hereâs one: carpophobia is the fear of wrists.
The biggest part of it is the veins on the inside of your wrist, so it's not like it's completely irrational (especially if you're squeamish), but speaking as someone who has it, it's not great. Seeing or touching the inside of my wrist, seeing other people touch their wrists or watches/sleeve cuffs being too loose or too tight around my wrist makes me feel so uncomfortable. The worst is when other people scratch their wrists, or when you flex your hand back and the veins on the wrist are really prominent. For some reason veins on other parts of the arm (the back of the hand, on the forearm towards the elbow, the bicep etc.) don't evoke the same discomfort as the ones specifically on the wrist - even though they're still kind of gross. Iâm completely fine with the other side of my wrist too, but I can barely look at the underside without getting that icky feeling.
Honestly couldn't tell you where this fear came from - I can imagine it could come from injuries to the wrist as a kid or a general squeamish-ness about blood and veins? I'm pale enough that my veins are really obvious under my skin, so maybe that just grossed me out as a kid, who knows. But it's not one a lot of people know about so I thought it was worth sharing.
I used to get in trouble for hitting people or digging my nails into them for touching or grabbing my wrists. There is nothing I hate more then feeling something on my wrist. I just chalked it up to my sensory issues due to my autism.
Had to hold my breath reading your comment because the description alone is so grosssss. I used to ask my mother as a young child if it was possible to surgically remove ''the blue lines on my wrist''. I feel you
I have an intense fear of roaches and vomit. I canât stand seeing, hearing, or smelling someone else vomit. I actually prefer for me to be the one getting sick rather than someone else. Iâm less grossed out by my own throw up. Roaches are just awful to feel crawl on me or to even see or hear. I donât think Iâll ever get over either of the two fears. I also have claustrophobia.
The phone thing often ties in with other anxiety disorders and often stems from being afraid of not having the support system/coping skills the phone provides.
It can also stem from certain abusive situations where the abuser is violent ect if you're in responsive to your phone like a ptsd symptom
I can also see as someone with PTSD how if someone's experienced trauma where there was an emergency and they didn't have their phone on them, or it died, or even if they've not been through that and have anxiety about that situation happening, that would make more sense than just the fear of being without it due to addiction.
so picture this, you have pb stuck there, you try to remove with your tongue, you can't, your tongue gets stuck, you gag and try to puke, but your mouth is nearly obstructed, you force it and your palate gets soft and hurts a lot, it seems it kinda caved in! you don't know anymore if that is pb, pus, blood, loose cartilage or softened or broken bone but it seems that there is more now than before... ...get it? :)
It doesn't even have a name but I have a phobia of sports balls. Just hearing a ball kicking or being hit makes me freak out, seeing a ball flying through the air makes me dry heave.
Here's a phobia for you Greg: Sipping overly hot tea (or any beverage for that matter) increases the risk of throat cancer. Nonetheless, I was scorching my mouth with tea the whole video, so what do I know.
This is the best comment Iâve ever seen
I just found this channel and Iâm so happy I did !!
What's funny is. At a certain point in time. Theses phobias didn't exist because the thing involved with the phobia wasn't made.
Or discovered
I have Glossophobia. Fear of public speaking. The worst thing about it is that people say ''Oh I get nervous too''. I am also excused to doing presentations as a senior now and people have actually said ''Maybe I should lie to them too''. The reason why I call it a phobia, not a fear, is because it physically harms me. I dissociate and get into a mode I call ''self destruct'' because my brain wants me out of this situation at all costs. I still have scars. I have scratched my skin open, fainted, when I was in primary to being a junior I repeatedly hit my head against doors and walls. Later I coped by simply locking myself in the school bathrooms as soon as I stood in front of the class and fail the subject. Every now and then I think I can do it, because I want to. But thinking about it, being at the situation again that has happened since I was in year3; I have eaten visibly spoiled food to skip presentations, and have developed a fear of vomiting. I just wished people didn't tell me to get over it, and it's not that hard, and that everyone has it. I also wished people knew the difference between a phobia, and being nervous or uncomfortable.
I have Erythrophobia, this is the fear of the color red and is often accompanied by the fear of blood or blushing. So pretty much I try to avoid bright red lights and such. I have never met another person with this phobia so it has always been confusing for me and many others to understand. I think itâs because of how strong of a color red is, whenever I look at the color I feel as if it is coming towards me or like something is gonna attack me.
That moment when you have to scroll down and treat the video like a podcast because you're afraid trypophobia (fear of multiple holes/clusters) will come up.
That's one that doesn't make a lick of sense, but the mere sight of it has caused me to go into panic attacks or dissociative episodes where I constantly "fixate" on the image like some sort of self-inflicted trauma. I can't even look the phobia itself to understand the reasons behind it because I know that associated images will be there. And then there are some videos that have it as a "satisfying" compilation that is supposed to "relax" you. The wild thing is it isn't uncommon as a general phobia or discomfort, but there are varying degrees of how it affects someone, from people feeling grossed out to...well...needing several minutes to 'come to' and then your whole day is riddled with anxiety.
Donât worry my friend, Iâm right there with you on trypophobia, that is something I will never show, because I myself canât take it either
Then by gawd NEVER look up _Pipa pipa_
Hey, not to diagnose you or anything, but I think you have ocd tendencies. I do that too sometimes especially the fixating on images thing
@@Melody-jc5hk I do actually have a diagnosed disorder that has similar ocd-type characteristics (not OCD itself but the intrusive thoughts-anxiety fixation part) so you aren't entirely off the mark lol but I believe the phobia itself is horrid feeling on its own đ©
In case you haven't got answers to why this phobia exists.
theory is that we connect these "holes/clusters" with diseases (and poisonous things if i remember correctly)
I think that i makes sense bc i start itching and scratching me everywhere when my trypophobia gets triggered.
Don't laugh but i developed that phobia 10-12years ago bc of a f*ing pewdiepie video where he played a game that either was about trypophobia or there was something in the game that triggered his trypohobia.
anyways... before that i didn't even know that this phobia exists and never had problem with "holes and clusters"
âStay hydratedâ who are you, Modest Pelican?!?!
I have climacophobia, bathmophobia, and escalophobia. Basically stairs, ladders, and steep hills absolutely terrify me, as well as escalators. Spiral stairs where you can like, see between the steps are the worst.
I have a fear of heights... stairs where you can see between the steps are pure horror..
escalatores above the ground floor in shopping centres or big stores are a nightmare for me (it's way worse on the way down tho)
i always had a somewhat fear of heights
but since one day it got "out of control" I was stuck on the 3rd floor in a shopping centre bc i was too afraid to use the escalators..they were build with glass railings on the side and you could look all the way down.
Took me a while to find the elevators
Since that.. incident...my fear got worse.. but i am working on it.
@katii1997 for me going up the escalator is worse. Interesting how that works haha
I donât really have any phobias on this list, but my main phobia is germophobia. I understand itâs not exactly uncommon, but the way it occurs with me seems to be. I have contamination OCD, which means germs, diseases, unsanitary things, etc make me violently uncomfortable and nauseous and can cause panic attacks. I have to wear gloves when I leave my house and take hand sanitizer everywhere. So, not a rare phobia, especially not after covid, but the way I experience it isnât one you see every day.
I think I have globophobia on the "avoiding balloons" level. I had super sensitive ears as a child and still have quite sensitive ears now (18 y/o). You have no idea how loud balloons popping sounded to my ears back then, it basically became traumatic. I get anxiety being around kids who treat balloons like footballs or sit on them like bean bags, because that fear of the popping sound being mega loud just messes with me so bad. It sucks being at a 6 year old's birthday party, but welp, gotta deal with it.
I don't know if it's a phobia but balloons definitely give me anxiety because of the pop it's like suspenseful you're constantly waiting for the jumpscare
You can desensitize yourself to that. Going to a shooting range has the same effect, every shot can startle you the first couple of times (when others are shooting, so you don't anticipate the bang), especially if you're wearing less effective hearing protection. But you gradually stop being bothered by it.
I had a balloon pop in my face when I was pretty little.... it still scares the shiz out of me đ I really don't like being around balloons
Clapping back at someone with peanut butter phobia after being made fun of for not getting in the pool.
Fear of strings? And I thought I was strange for having submechanophobia
Papyrophobia is the fear of seeing, touching, or getting cut by paper.
I wouldnât say I have this phobia but I absolutely hate being touched by or touching paper. It was much worse when I was younger, touching it sent chills up my arms and down my spine. Even now I struggle with it, so to cope I wear long sleeves or hoodies 24/7 so my hands and arms donât rub across it. Even thinking about it touching me makes me cringe.
I have trypophobia (fear of clusters of patterns), entomophobia (fear of bugs), arachnophobia (fear of spiders) and ostraconophobia (fear of shellfish)
I think it has to do with the shape of the legs of bugs and shellfish (especially shrimp-looking things) that is just disgusting to me đ€ą
Arachny (ÎÏÎŹÏΜη) actually means spider in greek. A lot of greek words are used in scientific terms, thats a way to pay respects to the Greeks for contributing so much to sience.
I literally got an ad for McCain Fries that was all yellow as soon as you started talking about Xanthophobia! What are the odds?
Okay the first thing with the peanut butter happened to me when I was ten years old and home alone. I was choking and it was actually very traumatic. I had to scrape the peanut butter off the roof of my mouth with my hands. Needless to say, I didnât eat peanut butter again until I was eighteen. Peanut butter is one of the worst things to choke on because itâs so sticky. Iâm twenty three now and I still havenât had a peanut butter sandwich since that day.
SCP-173 is the perfect counter to people with Optophobia
Your channel is the best! I can always come here for some interesting facts and laughs, keep it up man đđ»
"The fear of opening ones eyes" the old guy in anime be like
Imagine having that fear of long words and the therapist asked what you're afraid of.
I don't know if it's a phobia but I have an irrational fear of vomiting to the point where I get visibly distressed when I'm about to.
Same, emetophobia I think it's called, might of spelled it wrong. I try to give myself a pep talk out of vomiting, and always hoard my extra Zofran from urgent care for future use.
@@fenrkinex yeah. So you can guess the hell it has been the last 2 months since I've had GERD. Literally wanted to puke after every meal. Lost like 20 pounds just from that
It's called emetophobia
Dont know if youve ever heard of it but i have Elevatophobia. I was in Myrtle Beach, SC and was taking the elevator down to get ice from the lobby. Lightning struck the building and caused the power to go out. Luckily, we had managed to make it to ground floor before the power went, the big problem though at that point was the doors wouldnt open. Luckily....again, the handyman of the hotel actually happened to be in the elevator with us! He pulled his keys out and manually opened the door with the key thank god. Ever since then its a NO from me fam. Ill take the stairs lmaoo
Oh man, elevators suck.. Not really a fan of escalators either. Feels weird, but I don't think it's a phobia. I would Def take them if no other option is around
i have arithmophobia and it sparked off of me having dyscalcula (similar to dyslexia but with numbers) itâs not severe to the point i canât look at them, i just feel oddly uncomfortable when iâm having to do something with them
I have a fear of automatic sliding doors đ specifically when they're already open when I have to go through them
ur not alone....
Man-napping took me so off guard lol
To the fear of opening your eyes: I dont have it but I see where its comimc from. Id say its probably that once when you opened your eyes you unexpectedly saw smth that scared you a lot, maybe even scarred you for life. And now youre afraid this might happen again if you open them
What about Tepidophobia, the obviously extremely common fear of having bad tea. This may include when your tea is maybe to hotâŠ
*Oh shoot*
Easy solve.. Just don't drink teas
Lol his vids always make me laugh-
Watched one of his Thlassophobia vids and thought about it while in the shower, was kinda scared to open my eyes thinking id just be in the middle of the ocean when i open them
I might have the fear of the depths/deep water, but for me it isnât really the water that is my problem, itâs actually just not being able to see whatâs below me or above me. I love to see things and it makes me kinda scared to not be able to see anything.
I have Nomophobia, I have very bad panic attacks and have passed out when I don't have my phone in arms reach of me at all times. I understand that its irrational.
The fear of bathing could be somewhat like thalassophobia with an overactive imagination. I know I used to imagine the bath suddenly turning into the ocean and a shark about to eat me from underneath
yoooo u actually got yourself a good mic. I never came back after subnautica, so that's nice to see
Thanks for reminding me to drink water and stay hydrated
your videos make me laugh! thank you for making these
One thing that will make phobias make more sense is that they are the direct opposite of philia, which means attraction towards.
A phobia is a very strong aversion to something that likely creates anxiety. That's why one's like the phobia of baths don't really make sense when you think of it as a fear, because people don't have a fear of bathing, but they can have a very strong aversion to it.
Came for the subnautica, stayed for the phobia videos lol
Same. Was a great series.
Trying to evade any specific color must make you so paranoid
i have the same thing about my belly button and im pretty sure it comes from the matrix
Omg that actually makes sense tho, I watched that movie when I was like 11 and that part freaked me out đ
Iâve got globophobia. I have really bad trauma from loud noises like gunshots going off, and balloons popping reminds me of that sound. I also just donât like being near them because out of the corner of my eye Iâll think itâs someone watching me, and they sometimes remind me of when I passed out from inhaling helium when no one was around. Generally I just try to avoid them, but there are times where I will refuse to go anywhere where they are. Itâs not that bad of a phobia for me, but it definitely sucks and itâs something I wish I didnât have.
My mother had ablutophobia for a decade, she would shower twice per year and would always pass out during the shower...She cleaned herself daily with alcohol and baby wipes. The phobia originated from a hospital trauma in which she fell while showering and stopped walking for a whole year.
Iâm assuming that the peanut butter one has something to do with a fear of suffocating
Or a fear of having peanut allergies ..and not knowing ya do before it happens ? I've heard some have a fear of swelling up after eating it like ya do when ya allergic ..
I have a particular fear of old/elderly people with prosthetics and/or practical effects costumes. eg. The lady from Quarantine and my earliest reoccuring nightmares of Grizabella from the 1998 Cats stage production
I am ashamed to admit it, but i have Equinophobia... I get nervous and inexplicably terrified when im near them. I don't know what triggered it, but I've been this way since before I can remember, and now I'm 30... I don't think I'll ever get over it.
I'm talking about horses a bit in this reply, if you don't want to read this, you don't have to.
Hey, horse owner here! Believe it or not, I actually really easily see where you're coming from. One horse I have is very big and very jumpy, and handling him gives me some anxiety sometimes. Horses are strong, Although, they can also be very sweet and interesting animals.
If you plan to get over this fear, look for maybe a lesson barn. The horses at lesson barns are very chill from being around inexperienced riders and having to tolerate them lol. There are probably some therapy barns out there that you could look for. This does depend on where you live, though. I wish you the best.
@@darci1456 thank you for your kind words.
ablutophobia makes sense to me bc my little brother might not have it full blown but he definitely could not take a shower or bath for years (he would just get washed up at the sink or with a cup) and only just recently have i seen him actually take a shower by himself and even then he has my mom or other brother turn the water on for him bc hes still scared to a certain degree (hes 12). hes also a few years behind developmentally in general due to trauma so i think that also plays a part. i also have some issues with taking showers just because i dont really like the feeling of them and get really anxious until i get it and then im like "its really not that big of a deal". I feel kind of dumb for that tbh since im 21 lol but my brain hates me so
I know someone who has, well HAD, a fear of opening his eyes. When he was younger his father told him "don't open your eyes" after he was pulled halfway into a corn auger somewhere in Indiana. He died shortly after saying those words. Well, eventually the guy opened his eyes after 10 or so minutes and seen his father literally ripped to shreds and being constantly slopped around by the auger.
If that happened to me at the age of 9? I'd probably have a fear of opening my eyes for a good long while. He got over that fear and today is "fine" as one could be with that trauma.
Bonus round: I used to be deathly afraid of automatic flushing toilets. If I walked into any public restroom with these, I immediately felt in danger just being around them, and feared for my life. Thought I was gonna get sucked in and never see the light of day again.
4:18 idk about that. But i think it's more related to having relatives depending on your phone being on you at all times for emergency eventualities, than an addiction.
I have this fear that developed as a got older of bathing in regular sized tubs. I can bathe in round tubs but not the normal sized ones. And I can sit in them when theyâre dry, but if thereâs water in it itâs like everything in my body tells me not to get in. I also really donât like drains. Tub drains. Sink drains. Yeah idk what it is about them but they freak me out
Your hilarious, you've earned my subscribe.
For optopbobia, I can see it being a sensory overload thing, or related to light sensitivity. If I go to the grocery store during busy hours I literally get dizzy and anxious and panicked because of everything moving around me, trying to keep track of what Iâm seeing and navigating through it. I legit have to abandon my cart and leave. And when I was a kid, just having my eyes open in the car on a sunny day was painful as hell. Theyâd be watering like crazy and itâd be impossible to open them because of how intense the light felt.
On the other hand, I could also see it being related to trauma of a specific event where you shut yourself off and kept them closed to shield yourself, but when you eventually had to open your eyes, you saw something terrible and mentally scarring.
And lastly, I could see it related to being afraid of what could be lurking in the dark of your room at night. Kind of like the hiding under your blanket thing. If I canât see it, it canât see me, itâs not there lol
Always love ya vids đđ you have a great voice too đ
Wow man, super wacky.. Not many things I get worked up about. But driving basically outside my town is now one of them. When I was a kid driving was like freedom, now I can have some panic attacks when driving. Mostly far from home. Not good to be heading down the interstate at like 75mph and suddenly feel like you're going to pass out. Kinda bad... So, I don't do it.
i sorta have globophobia. thing is, im not afraid of balloons themselves, but when i see someone blow it up either via mouth or machine, i get severe anxiety and i panic. i must immediately vacate the area when a balloon is being inflated. its definitely the anxiety of it popping and being loud.
i fear loud sudden sounds to an extreme, like fireworks for example. i cant enjoy firework shows. I've fired arms before and its not bad because i choose when to fire so i can prepare for the loud sound but when other people are firing i cant handle it.
also- when i see a tire being inflated i also panic and vacate, or when i see an air tank or propane tank i panic and leave.
Nephophobia, the phobia of cloud. I hate how they think they can cover the sun and cast massive unavoidable shadows. I would literally run and hide during recess from cloud shadows. The fact they can be larger than Everest, and itâs actually common for them to be, bothers me. Anvil clouds are my least favorite next to mammatus clouds and arcus clouds. Like why are they so MASSIVE and alien looking. The movie Nope really highlighted my fear of clouds, the idea they may be an alien organism waiting to eat me, hunting me every day. Iâm able to walk outside even clouds are around outside at least, but if I look up for too long Iâll actually get scared. Overcasts and obviously clear skies are fine.
I have claustrophobia (narrow spaces) and agoraphobia (big open spaces) at the same time. I think it's the feeling of beeing trapped or exposed that connects those two. One thing is clear I will never do an MRI again. Had nightmares for two years. Also big empty rooms alone with no people and nowhere to hide a a big problem.
I can understand ablutophobia. My brother has autism (so do I) and he just has a really bad sensory experience when in the shower. Something about the water hitting him and the sounds. He's not afraid of being clean, though he doesn't put much care into it, it's just showering is a bad time
âJust shooting in the darkâ đđ€Ł
Nice video nothing like some dry humor :)
When I don't know where my phone is, or if I just don't have it with me, I get really anxious, and I don't even use it often, I can normally go through a whole day without my phone going down below 70%, but if I can't find it, I get pretty scared. It kind of worries my parents when I don't like someone else using my phone, because they think I'm trying to hide something, but I think I might have nomophobia. I also hate large open spaces, which is basically kenophobia, voids don't get me too much, but open, empty spaces like a wearhouse or corridor terrify me
I have a phobia of claymation because of James and the Giant Peach. I watched that movie as a child and it absolutely terrified me, so much that now even hearing people watching a movie I know is claymation gives me shivers and anxiety đ Not fun at all. I'm missing some good movies because of it.
Omg, I just noticed your ATLA Appa poster. I love it so much.
I have Lepidopterophobia and boy, it's the worst!!!
they always comes flying to my face and I don't know if I cry, duck or run
I've had full on panick attacks because of it
If you have a fear of string are you afraid of cables for electronic devices too? I don't have it but I'm curious.
I have Globophobia. iâm terrified of balloons, especially ones popping, so much so, i wonât pick one up if itâs fallen just in case it does pop. iâm seriously so petrified of them. everyone who finds out about it makes fun of me. itâs so embarrassing
I have emetophobia, the general definition is the fear of throw up, but I personally am scared of not being able to get to the toilet in time (whenever i'm in a car or at school) and im also scared of waking up and throwing up.
i know this is old, but i have nomophobia! and i just wanted to comment bc for me, the fear of being without my cell phone is absolutely tied to my paranoia, agoraphobia, and avoidance. if i have my phone, i can call for help, like you said... but i can also use it as an excuse to look "busy" or distracted if i don't want ppl to notice or pay attention to me. i use it as a coping strategy for panic in public bc i can just put my head down and look at it like i'm texting someone (i'm usually just trying to breathe while tapping a "message" to my own google number) or pretend to get a call. a lot of my fear of being out of the house is just people like. paying attention to me (avoidant pd is a fun one). so without my phone i will straight up just panic bc now i have no buffer between myself and other ppl. also applies to my dog if i'm anywhere i'm allowed to have him lmao.
16:09 Yooo my mother's friend actually has this fear lol. I remember as a kid, I went with my mother to stay with her at her job, and she had a friend come in her room not aware that I was going to be there. When she saw me, she was quite startled. After leaving, my mother told me that she was afraid of young people because of how uncontrollable, crazy, and (possibly) loud they can be, to which I didn't really mind at all as I was(kind of) really the only one that she could sort of not fear, since I was known to be a really good kid, always quiet, not making a mess and whatnot. Man I never really thought of all this until seeing this video. Thanks! đ
Bro I never realized you had a over the garden wall poster! Dope
I wake up with my eyes closed and decide if I wanna try to keep sleeping or get up haha
My nan has the phobia of balloons, but we don't know where it came from (or at least she's never told us). She also has a fear of swimming, but that one is understandable as she was pushed in the deep end of the pool as a child when she couldn't swim. I don't personally think I have any strange phobias, but I do have often quite intense reactions to loud sounds due to sensory processing issues so I do understand why things like balloons may be a phobia to others.
So, the first fear seems like something that can also stem first from sensory issues people who are autistic experience.
Ofc it can come from other experiences, like traumatic experiences, but autism can definitely cause/contribute to fears like that.
this was mad entertaining, dude.
glad you're liking my videos dude! I just saw all your comments :)
Thank god we have a vacant time in my school sched. I get to watch your vids
I have trypanophobia which is the fear of needles, which is the name used for specifically the fear of medical needles, but I don't like any needle-like things, like pins, sewing needles, thumbtacks, stuff like that, so I totally get having a seemingly pointless phobia.
