Yakuza 6 & consequently K2 is the early iteration of the engine. Try Judgment, they finally make it the best of both worlds - Y0's variety and versatility + dragon engine's punchiness. Lost Judgment in particular is very fluid and IMO better than any Yakuza games before it.

@@sobastian802 I felt like Judgement's combat was kinda mid until I got all the combo speed upgrades. Once you get that, it becomes a much better game, I feel. Also wall attacks and grabs rule. Lost Judgement has the best combat in the series, so if nothing else, hold onto that as you carry on.
I really have to say as much as the combat feels less refined on dragon engine, it's delivered way more laugh out loud moments just organically through combat than any of the other Yakuza series games for me. Like one of my first fights in Sotenbori I pick a guy up and just throw him intending him to smash into enemies (like circle throw not the heat action) and he just ends up bouncing on the pavement before flying off the bridge into the river, I had to pause until I'd calmed back down
I don't care what anyone says but when I first played Kiwami 2 and knocked a thug into a store through a glass pane and then did the Microwave heat action...I'm sorry but I fell in love with the dragon engine there and then. Though I hear it wasn't as polished in Yakuza 6.

A blessing and a curse, indeed. I love how you can mess around so much with the physics, it's fun to throw enemies around and break almost everything in the scenery. At the same time tho, I hate how janky the ragdolls are. Yeah it's funny to see a guy freeze and spin after you finish a fight in Y6, it's funny to see Kiryu fly up 5 meters above the ground like a sack of sh*t, but idk, it's still jank, and it makes the games look unpolished and even more silly than it already is. I also hate the collision glitches that happen sometimes, like 3:15.
They finally nailed the combat in LJ, but there's still some jank when it comes to the ragdolls. It's still fairly easy to see Yagami's body ragdoll like crazy, happens everytime you get hit with a blade and it does this animation 2:42
