The Walking Dead has it's ups and downs, but man is Rick such a great character
Phoenix River he is man, his my favourite so badass
Agreed. Most of the cast originals were so easy to get invested it, like them or hate them. The post-Rick era almost became a chore to watch, for me personally. I am glad that many still enjoy the show however because it’s like anything, to each their own.
Rick is the most complex character in the show and a natural leader
More like the only complex character in the show
Koolikoo I think Daryl and Negan are both philosophical deep.
I love the show, but I've never understood why everyone (both in-universe and out) praises Rick's character and leadership so much. I mean, there's only been a few times that's he's shown to have a tactical mind, in that he actually comes up with a plan (as opposed to just shooting anything that moves), which works and doesn't get a ton of people killed or captured. In most instances of him being leaderful, he's just mumble-bossing people around while glaring at them to challenge him. (This isn't real leadership, this is just being a tyrannical- thug.) The only reason Rick got started in being 'the leader' was because Shane let him take the lead, simply because he outranked him in the old world. If Shane hadn't been screwing Rick's wife, I don't think he would've let his role go, after all, Shane saw it start and knew how things worked and how to survive. Rick knew nothing about how to do things safely, his first night in the RV camp should've proved that. Yet, despite multiple screw ups on Rick's part, people for some reason just kept going along with this stupidly-stoic attitude. Everyone thought he was better than Shane since he was a sheriff, and everyone now thinks he's the best choice since his whole team blindly supports him. (This facade was never made clearer than when Abraham left that map with a note saying: "The world needs Rick Grimes." WHY?? What did Rick do to impress Abraham, a trained and competent soldier, so much??)
Though you may say I'm wrong for thinking so, I've recently come to see Rick as just a bat-less, caveman Negan. Borderline irrational and near idiotic. Negan at least directs people, sees to it that they're provided for, and keeps situations from spiraling out of control. And while we hate him for killing *****, his model of order is the most sustainable TWD has seen so far. Civilization would come back under people like Negan, much to our dismay, while Rick's methods would only leave us in a nomadic-scavenger lifestyle. So honestly, I'm going to continue to think this about Rick, until someone can show me otherwise.
brackonstudios I agree with you!!
I don't hate Rick but I really don't get all of the praise for him.
Koolikoo Carol? Morgan?
They say otherwise
S1 Rick: Hopeful, still believes in law, morality is still a thing.
S2 Rick: Broken, he has problems accepting the new world, starts adapting at the end.
S3 Rick: No mercy, crazy and delusional after Lori's death, bad decisions.
S4 Rick: Peaceful, stepping down from being the lider to find himself, in the end he accepts his brutality.
S5 Rick: Brutal, he will show no mercy or forgiveness if someone threats him or his family, still willing to work with certain people.
S6 Rick: A man who wants to build a future with the community, he's still clinging to his brutality when it comes to threats, becomes cocky towards the end, believing the world is his.
S7 Rick: Powerless, having a reckoning after his attitude last season, afraid of loosing it all, stays in line but eventually rises up in a more safer way.
S8 Rick: It's a remix of S7 and S6, he still sees a future, but starts to feel like he can forgive some people and not kill them, he wants to follow the plan till the end.
Bigbrother3465 s5 was the best version of him imo
I think 6A is the best version of himself, willing to work with the community without having to be insanely brutal, but not weak.
@@bigbrother3465 Yeah now SPOILERS
He is dead. That means I don't watch Walking Dead anymore because the death of Carl and Rick was already too enough
@@normaaliihminen722 Rick is not dead
Bigbrother3465 yup he actually died at the bridge who was middle of construction work
People always shit on TWD for being “boring” etc. I legitimately cannot see it because of how deep this show runs. It was once said that the only thing worth writing about is the conflict of the human heart. And that quote is embodied by the characters of the story. Rick, Shane, Glenn, Michonne and Carol. The struggle they go through to balance what’s morally “good” and strive to hold onto their humanity. Meanwhile trying to survive in such a bleak and dangerous world. How far will the human mind go when pushed and what lies can we tell ourselves in order to what’s needed to be done. And live with it.
i agree i love the show and i think the parts that seem boring or repetitive are often done on purpose to give the audience time to think. if you are still watching what do you think about what has happened recently? (big death)
Nick Millette
I mean, if they happen that often, you begin to not feel anything at all.
reason why some people might find TWD boring because there are really unreasonable amount of unwanted dialogue episodes and no action. It has become drama show instead of surviving
While this is true, its exploration of those themes are skin deep. It became overly bleak with repetitive, aimless, sometimes nonsensical drama and characters, using shock value and cliffhangers to manipulate the audience to keep watching. After S4 I just watched it out of obligation. It just became a show about characters standing around talking about their feelings, which isn’t interesting storytelling. It’s just amc’s cash cow now.
@@normaaliihminen722 It's far from boring and yes, it is a drama show. It always has been ever since Rick woke up from the coma and wanted to find his family. Survival is part of the drama
Great analysis of Rick's character. The thing I've always admired about Rick was that he became really realistic and distrustful of anybody who wasn't in his group when he had to(after all the terrible things that humans who weren't in his people's group had done to him). Shane's problem was that he became ruthless to early)
Exactly, Shane just adjusted before everyone else, when they were all struggling to accept this new world ; but ultimately he was RIGHT.
@@shanouboubou Shane was not adjusted if you really thought he did then your stupid because he was violent and very impulsive if Shane was still around throughout the season he would've got everyone killed
@@ryanthereaper5032 I love debating with people who insult me for no reason
@@shanouboubou lol I'm not straight up insulting you we can debate if you want without insults sorry I'll try better next time lol
This video was really good. Make more videos like these.
Agreed, literally came down here to say "This was a damn good video." xD
moar soon! thank you for the watch and kind words.
I agree this video is good and I wouldn’t understand ricks personality until I watched this.
"We're among them-- And when we finally give up we become them! We're living on borrowed time here, every minute of our life is a minute we steal from THEM!
You see them out there. You KNOW that when we die-- We BECOME them. You think we hide behind walls to protect us from the WALKING DEAD?
Don't you get it? We ARE the walking dead."
-Rick Grimes
Nice to see you, very good work on uploading demo's streams bud.
Loved that speech
this IS the bad place
Now i wanna read the comics
I love this show. It’s really deep, the detail and technicalities are done so well. Just the idea of “what can a person turn into in this world” is by itself such a complex idea.
It always makes me a little irritated when people shit on TWD for just being dumb entertainment because if you look a little deeper there are a lot of questions and complex themes about humanity and life that are presented in this entertaining and character driven way. Just because the show appeals to a broad base of people or makes some blunders doesn’t mean it’s bad or stupid.
I’ve asked the question “has Rick become Shane?” quite a bit myself.
Funny, it always makes me a little irritated when people blindly praise Rick's leadership abilities. Uhm. That’s interesting. Not really what I was commenting about.. not really what the video was about either.
in the comics it a lot more clear that Rick and Negan are really similar. Negan in the comics is a MUCH better and more evolved character. In in fact, a much better leader / planner. Negan has a plan, has exucated the plan, and is making his plan work. Yeah, he's a thug and mass murdered, but he also has clear rules as to how the world works. In the show it's never really clear why anyone would follow Negan, and he's more 'evil' (ie volience for now reason, or killing the doctor). In the comics he ONLY kills becuase it's NECESSARY based on his rules. But then SO DOES RICK. Rick only kills when it's necessary based on his rules. Neighter just kill for sport or fun.
+Lauren Bennett I still watch the show, but it's not as good as it used to be. It's noticeable that most of the footage in this video is from seasons 1 to 5. It hasn't focused on characters as much lately, and seemed mostly based around unnecessary "twists". I do agree that the show is still better than most people give it credit for. Those rare, strong character moments in the latest seasons have still made it worth watching for me.
brackonstudios posting same thing on multiple threads is a clown move bro.
Do more Walking Dead Characters like Negan and Carl and Daryl and Carol and Glenn
i'd save Negan for after the 8th season
Negan is a bitch
Hope you keep doing annalysis like these, just like with game of thrones. Maybe checking the sopranos or breaking bad could work too
Vicente Ortega Rubilar Sons of Anarchy would be good too
Vicente Ortega Rubilar Oh I'd LOVE to see a Sopranos analysis series
Vicente Ortega Rubilar yes! A sopranos analysis is long overdue on CZcams
we definitely will be. thanks for the support!
ScreenPrism thanks for all the work and content
Please do a Carol analysis! she's my queen! ; U;
YAS! She is my inner spirit :3
Love her; she is Clint Eastwood with skirts. A truly evolved hero
I love her. Carol did a complete 180 in her skills. But I understand why. I theorize that Carol became a warrior because, new zombie eating world aside. she felt so vulnerable and unprotected in her marriage. And then after that she didn't have the skills to protect her child. She had to rely on others. After Sophia I think she decided she didn't want to have to depend on others. She would no longer be that weeping willow who couldn't take care of herself and have her fate decided by others due to her lack of skills. Because for real for real...if you don't have any kind of skills you don't have a say in any decision making. You just go over there and watch the kids. Sorry for the long reply but I find her character arc to be the most fascinating.
I really don't get why people like Carol. She's a sociopath.
@@uralwong799 this is so wrong lol. do you not remember how bad she felt after she killed the saviours at thr outpost? she felt so awful to the point she had to leave the group entirely.
Rick is the biggest part of why I still watch the show
Great video. Rick is one of my favorite characters all time. Because of who he is and what he believes in, it’s easy to get behind the bad things he has to do. I love the way they play with morality on this show. It’s so well done.
Ricks group isn't known as The Survivors
They are The Walking Dead
Do Michonne or Carol next!!
Hands down the most thorough analysis channel on CZcams and my favorite, keep these coming because you guys make awesome content!
*cries internally forever*
ScreenPrism has released two great videos in a row! Yesterday we had a breathtaking analysis of The Shining. And now this! Thank you very much, just added both to my favorite list.
Really digging your channel would really love to see more Walking Dead character breakdowns.
This is a really powerful and no nonsense analysis of "The Walking Dead". It makes things much clearer.
It's funny when some people say this show is mindless or doesn't have depth when really it explores, perhaps more than any other show, some truly deep questions about our human nature and its complexities in a chaotic anarchic world.
I would love an analysis on the movie Tangerine :)
This was brilliant by the way. Big time TWD fan!
This was wonderful. I can't wait for you to do one for Michonne, Carl or Morgan.
Please do one or several for characters of The Sopranos. It is a golden mine for such analyses.
New meaning to rewatch tv series. Screenprism keep up the good work. My SUBSCRIBE was ON POINT
i'm so excited for this series!! i love the walking dead and have so many FEELINGS about all of the characters. if you dip back into older characters, i'd love to see hershel!
This was absolutely amazing i love all the content provided on this channel it provides such a deeper meaning behind the rich diverse content we love so much all ready keep it up this channel is amazing💪💪💪💪🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love her voice :)
This was great! Can't wait to see video's on Carol and Glenn.
Thanks for this amazing video, I've watched it so many times... Reminds me how good the walking Dead used to be.
Very well done. I enjoyed watching this a lot. Good job
Thanks David!
Can you please do more videos of other Walking Dead characters?
This was really good.
Watching this great video just reminded me of how awesome The Walking Dead used to be.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video
Great video!!! Can't wait for Carol, my favorite character arc... Thanx!!
Amazing video! These videos are always top notch. Please do Shane next!!
This was really great. Adding this channel.
good job. been following you for a while. and really really enjoying your videos. keep it up!
thanks so much!
you have never heard before of the dubstep remix that we found, on the walking dead theme ! INCREDIBLE !!!
there needs to be a updated version of this
Great video. Please do Carol next! She's my favorite character.
excellent video!
Rick is not the moral compass of the group, no way. Dale , Hershel and Glenn were.
They're all gone now, ain't they?
Laverne Blaszczyk moral compass = heart of group
they all die, but Rick absorbs they spirits
I feel more like they each represented different flavors of morality of the ‘old world’, and what made them interesting was each were tested against the ‘new world’. Rick’s moral compass has undeniably changed, and he’s been reeled back in by the likes of those characters before, but I don’t think it’s as simple as blatantly assigning one person role of “moral compass” because what makes the show interesting is that each character has a slightly different (or maybe not so slight) idea about morality.
Brian Achim she was talking about season 1. He was in season 1 without a doubt.
Please do a Negan analysis! He has some more layers to him beyond leader and killer. Love the videos!
Yay! Can't wait for Michonne and Glenn!
One of the greatest youtube channels
I would define Rick's morality as adaptable
Then that’s not morality… isn’t it kind of hypocritical?
This video got me right in my feels
I can't wait for Michonne!
Jon Snow made it on a Rick Grimes video. That is such a good comparison on how they lead.
Except Jon Snow is dumber and should've died many times and remain that way for all the same dumb things all because of author/plot favoritism. Also Jon is a moping, vain in his self image of code. Rick is more genuinely moral or at least makes genuine effort for the genuine benefit of others.
More of this, pleaseeeeeeeee
I'd say you've missed a very important turning point in Rick's compass - one that led to the groups (almost) demise. Rick and the gang attacking the outpost to racket Hilltop. They basically killed several dozen people even though the Saviors hadn't really crossed paths with them yet. It was a massacre for strategic, materialistic gain more than just "Kill or be killed", the retaliatory burden-free killing that they had to do before. This was basically pure evil. It's when Rick became, for a moment, Negan himself, and had karma boomerang him straing to face with the force of a barbed baseball bat.
I disagree. There are always other ways. Otherwise, this "let's go kill 30 people while they sleep so we can eat" logic can be applied to everyone else. They're not cannibals - they were starving! They're not the most feared gang - if they stop supporting their system of power, they won't have any food! So no, IMHO it was a choice the group made - bust the balls of Hilltop, make a deal, kill people for profit.
I would love for you guys to do NBC’s Hannibal! There’s so much there and not many videos on it! I know y’all would do it justice!
I already need one of these about Carol
I'm loving this channel as much as I love Wisecrack. Both the script and the editing is extremely good. The editing is even better than Wisecrack, wish is often too cartoonish and less clean.
Thanks, Samuel!
Honestly an analysis of every main character in this show can be made. They wrote everyone with so much depth and each of them face their own struggles with morality
Love Rick! He has and always will be my favorite TWD character
Rick's tha man!
Where the hell is the rest of this series???????
Thanks and thangs
Please make a video on Banshee 😊
Could you do a video essay on Nick Clark from Fear The Walking Dead?
I'm new to this channel....soooooo did you just never continue this series?? Cause I can't find any others
Wisecrack, The Take, Screen Rant
I could watch these CZcams pages legit 24/7
why doesn't this have more views???
Please do one of these for Michonne and Glenn.
I'm enjoying the current dichotomy of Maggie's leadership contrasted with Rick's.
The season 8 finale is tonight. I'm very excited
Rick is an OG DILF
Can we get another The Wire Character analysis
Please do a character study on Merle!!
The best character, in my opinion!!
Can see get a video on Negan’s redemption?
The kingdom would be an amazing video
Could you guys do one on characters like Daryll, Negan, and The Governor? Honestly could you just do every character please?
Rick is THE Man
Do a Carol one please.
A must!
agh, please do a video on The Sopranos! lol
Pure awesomeness :)
1. WEEK. LEFT.
Please do an analysis on Negan😇
Screen prism makes every show/movie look cool
Anyone here after 9x5?
An interesting premise would be theoretically for a moral debate between Season 1 Rick & Season 8 Rick.
Great video, would you do an Orphan Black one?
Andrew Lincoln is such an incredible actor than season 6s ending was so depressing I can hardly rewatch it
Carl kills Shane in the graphic novels saving ricks life, I think that is a much better way to show Shanes death
this reminded me how great TWD is
BREAKING BAD WALTER WHITE ANALYSIS PLEASE!
Please do Carol and Shane
When Rick showed up he kinda just took the leadership from Shane, if you think about it it's kinda hilarious
Rick: hey I'm Rick, I was the sherrif, I like long walks and dry meat, also I'm taking the lead here
Shane: wtf no you just came back from a coma-
Literally everyone else: lol, ok great
Rick and Negan are one in the same.
Change my mind.
Oh God This is Awesome. Just in time too! #Season8
Negan already disliked this
I don't know why, but people keep saying Rick's the villain.
Yeahhhh TWD series is here!!!!!
U should do batman and joker from the dark knight
Rick killed the Punisher, that's a bad man right there
This narrator sounds like the ones on Mac's.
