    Jordan Rex out of Florida with an LML I watch your videos about putting the remote trans cooler when you said you didn't run it through the radiator when you take the lines out of the radiator what you do just plug them off and then just run the cooler lines from the cooler to the tranny so my question is do you just plug off the radiator

    Thanks for your content. I'm new to the Duramax world with buying my 1st 2011 LML. And your videos are giving me plenty of projects to work on during the hunting off season.

    Nice video! The cooler in the radiator likely won't heat the fluid up in very cold weather because the warm coolant doesn't even start to flow through the radiator until the engine warms up to operating temp and the thermostat opens, which obviously may take a while in cold weather. And even when the thermostat does open, the cold side of the radiator actually still stays quite cool in the winter because the heater will be on and the radiator works so efficiently with such cold air hitting it that the thermostat doesn't open much. Don't believe me? Feel the lower rad hose after driving around for a while in the middle of the winter, it will likely be quite cool. A lot of newer vehicles actually run the trans fluid and hot engine coolant through a heat exchanger instead of running it through the hot side of the radiator to help the trans warm up in cold weather, mostly for fuel efficiency reasons.

      Yepp I agree with you man. The more I thought about it I figured out exactly what you said. And you can really tell that it does work well when it flows through the rad like that with a cooler on top of it. But I still think having a nice remote mount beats all of the options anyway. Appreciate the comment

    Nice install man. Very informative too. I’m curious now that time has passed how well the fan has held up to road use and what not. Keep up the great work. I’m watching all your Duramax vids now

      Thanks for watching man! So far everything has been pretty good! Took awhile playing with the thermostat and its location but the fan has been fine so far. Granted i dont drive my truck in the winter but its help up to dirt and everything else!

    liquid to liquid is more efficient than air to liquid. that's why we use teh radiator cooler. you can run an air to air, however it will need to be at least as big as your condenser

    Excellent production quality and I admire your willingness to think out loud. 👍
    I’d never risk that! 😀😀😀
    No mention of fusing the line but I’ll find video 2.
    Also, since March, how does the cooler look? Seems a nasty location for road debris. 😟

      Thanks i appreciate it! It is doing really well but we have been playing with the thermostat location. Other than that its been great it works well. Surprisingly it doesnt get too dirty or beat up at all. If you were off roading i would recommend washing it regularly

    What braded lines and fittings did you use? Need to replace mine and want to get rid of the junk stock lines and fittings.

      I cant remember what brand this stuff was because it was from a small local racing shop. Vibrant, fragola, earls, red horse, ive used all those brands before they are all great. Just look at some different options and see which look you like best!

    Awesome content. What’s the hose size you’re using? And is the black braided one just as good?
    Thanks

    • @jordancampbell3723
      @jordancampbell3723  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks Daniel! The hose size is -10 AN and yes the black braided will work just fine. The stainless stuff i like because it has some more protection from that stainless braid but i do like the look of the black better! If you do the black braided or any fabric braid you just really have to make sure the lines are secured really good and they arent rubbing on anything.
