      For me, the reason it works the way it does in the situation is that forced mindfulness to just allow your body to relax and breathe deeply. It's that breathing deeply that can help switch the body to its parasympathetic state, rest and digest, and the downstream effects of that is lowering stress in your cortisol levels in your body. Lowering those stress levels allows your body to start rebalancing your hormones where they want them to be and can allow your body to start healing and recovering a little bit faster
