i am so so so grateful for you, yes you! right now! reading this! you are amazing! have a great day! :) - Krátké a kreslené filmy
can we talk about how amazing eve's hair looks in this??
your hair is amzaing
Also, for food shopping, try and make a weekly meal plan, a list that you stick to and if you live with other people you’re close to, you can make meals together/ cook for eachother and share the cost.
I totally agree, I didn’t start meal planning or batch cooking till second term and it saved me loads of money and time!!
Having photos of friends and family was so comforting during first year! I think people expect uni to be the most exciting and fun experience ever but it can be scary and overwhelming, especially during freshers. So having things to comfort you and remind you of home such as photos is the best thing ever. I bought some fairy lights with clips to put photos on that I put up using command hooks. I also recommend a cuddly toy and a sleep mask as well - I'd never used them before but found them really comforting and made sleeping easier.
Would really recommend buying a wheelie shopping bag (I got mine for cheap at B&M) and this means you can buy a lot more and not die carrying bags back from the shops 😂. Definitely also bring slippers or flip flops because uni halls can get dirtyyy!
I found my main textbook on Ebay as a pdf version for like £2 which was worth over £100 in print so this was great! I also recommend buying a printer as this makes it a lot easier to print notes and resources without having to go to the university library. All of my friends brought one to uni for second semester without knowing we'd all decided this so that says it all really 😂
I'm at the University of Leeds going into second year so if anyone has any questions about this uni or any general uni questions please let me know ☺❤
Hey I’m going into second year at Leeds University too ❤️ thanks for the wheelie Carrie bag tip 😊
@@robyndavis8499 Ah no way that's awesome! What are you studying? And that's okay, it saved me and my back 😂❤
Biology with Gracie I’m studying Spanish and Italian
@@robyndavis8499 Ah hence eve is the perfect study tuber for you then! That's amazing; I have so much respect for people learning languages - it's crazy hard!
Biology with Gracie thanks ❤️ glad I met u xx
I can already see this being perfect for me. Starting uni in September (hopefully at least...) and I’ve been going back through your videos from a couple of years ago and putting together a packing list etc!
good luck
Same here! What uni are you hoping for/going to? I’m going to Hertfordshire :)
a azeem thank you!
Marie G thank you so much for the advice! I will definitely keep all this in mind when I start! I play piano etc. So I’m hoping to get involved in music stuff to take my mind off study when I need it!
Amy x I’m going to uni of Kent for Computer Science. What are you studying?
Anyone else scared about the a level grades this year ?
rumi ahmed same.
RIP
I'm sorry but Unite Students don't comunicate with their students, we had to beg for them not to charge us rent in third term and they wouldn't tell us anything at all until May time. I don't even have a phone number to get hold of them. If anyone has a phone number for them PLEASE let me know what it is
As someone who has lived with Unite Students for the last two years, they never told us they would not charge us for the last term. I still had to pay my last final payment as there was no communication between them and us. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get home before my contract ran out, and I was told I would have to pay to continue staying there. Even though I had looked on their website during the pandemic and it said that they wouldn't charge students to stay there over the summer if they couldn't get home. Thankfully I managed to get home a month before my contract ended
'paying £9000 for the experience' not for us starting in September RIP freshers 2020 :((((
Hey! I'm a second year uni student and honestly I think freshers is overrated 😂 It can obviously be fun but it's also a crazy emotional and overwhelming time. I promise you you'll have the best times later on when you've established friendships and got to the know people and the uni better so don't feel too down 😊 hope this helps!💗
You know its gonna be a good day when Eve posts :')
Eve has been looking EXTRA gorgeous lately. ❤
If people are struggling to sleep I found this helped me. You can buy a pillow with a little speaker in. You attach your phone and listen to music or podcasts whatever you want. My fave are audiobooks and I cannot sleep without it now ❤️
Thank you so much for this video!! I’m heading off to uni in September so this is super super helpful!! ❤️❤️
good luck
10:20 Parkinson's law!! The task expands to fill the time. So glad you brought this up, definitely something I'll need to be careful of when I got to uni in September! Such a helpful video, will be watching it again a couple months time xx
This video is amazing. Your videos are such a huge inspiration!
Yes, I'm so glad I had a hot water bottle and lavender pillow spray in my first year! (I actually bought the pillow spray to help me relax during A levels, but it's been useful ever since.) 💖
ok eve must have read my mind bc ive been aimlessly uni shopping with no real plan for like a week now so i needed a video like this 🤪 also not to echo everyone else but your hair is looking impeccable !!!
Hey! Just noticed your comment! I also post uni content and advice as I did my degree and master's, if you ever need any more help pop over to my channel 🥰
during my first semester I definitely had to get used to buying and cooking for myself so much and I relatively soon just started to cook some very similar dishes each week but they were still good and mildly creative. and so helpful for shopping. like pasta on one day (tbh probably more), rice on another, a big salad on a third, lentils/couscous on a fourth and potatoes in some form on a fifth and then just change up the vegetables or souces that go with those. and it worked surprisingly well and i took me over half a year to get kind of sick of that but by then i had learned to cook some other stuff that also goes quickly and could start the second semester with a bigger range of things that still made my shopping easy.
Thank you for making this video, I have been worried about starting University in September and this helped
LOVE the lavender spray, didn't know they did a roll on- good tip. Coloured lights regulate your mood... interesting. Defo bring a mix of comfy and more fancy/going out clothes. Yes, do some cooking... find some easy videos on YT. Bananas are great, good for the time of the month too (have peppermint tea on hand for that too) and salads too. Amazon second hand very good/like new quality books are so good and much more worth it than first hand books. Parkinson's law... a task will fill to fit the time you give it. Oh my days! Reference as you go along- Cite This For Me is a great website, minor tweaks yeah but so useful, saves a lot of time!
I’m really glad you suggested lavender spray cause I remember nights when I would take like forever to fall asleep and I kept blaming it on which pillow I was sleeping on 😂 so thank u so much for that tip I’m gonna add it to my list ❤️ you are glowing Eve honey 🍯
you look so healthy and glowy I'm glad to see you looking so well despite the current events ❤️
I needed this video so bad I’m meant to be going uni in sept/oct and I’ve been wondering what I do and don’t need, what I should expect etc. Thank you so much Eve!!
I love being early and watching your videos Eve! They are so helpful
definitely have to agree with buying all your textbooks second hand - I got all mine off ebay/amazon and it saved me so much!! for science in particular, the facts haven't changed too much in the past 10 years (not for fundamentals that you cover in your first few years), so you can easily get a textbook that's a couple of editions old (I got my favourite textbook for £3 instead of £60 and it's been invaluable - plus the latest edition is always available in the library if I need something new and very specific)
Thanks for the advice Eve,
LOVE ALL THE WAY FROM KENYA 🇰🇪
Forgetting to eat fruit and veg is SUCH a vibe!
Hi Eve, thank you so much for making this video. I am due to start university in September 2020 therefore making this really useful.
Thanks Eve! I'm an Aussie student going to the UK next year and one thing I'm worried about is the mild weather. I get SAD (Seasonally Affected Depression) during our winters here, so I know that might be a challenge in the UK but your recommendations will hopefully really help!
hopefully going to York in September and getting so exited, so thank you for this video!!
good luck
Good luck
I’m hopefully going to York too! What are you studying? X
I've just finished my first year at uni, and all of the tips you've said, i've definitely learnt this year. With textbooks, i found the best way to get cheaper second hand textbooks that are good quality is the new and used section on amazon. I bought a textbook from there at the start of the year and instead of it costing me £60, it only cost me £23.
ahh such good timing xx
I’m moving in to my dorm in a few days - and I’m not done packing😂 I NEEDED this video🙌🏼❤️
"There was no instance where a hot water bottle made anything worse" omg so true haha I'm obsessed with them they fix everything xxx
Great video!
I’ve just listened to Billy Joel Vienna for the first time as it was mentioned on another video and it is an amazing song, I love it so much
Me too!
The politician has an amazing cover of it !!
Great video hope ur staying safe x
I'm already compiling recipes for uni (no way im taking 12 cookbooks with me) so I don't buy food randomly and its easier to meal plan :)
same! going to aim to meal prep every Sunday for at least the next Monday-thurs
If you can sort recipes which are different but use similar ingredients you can save money! I keep mine in collections of 7 dinnertime recipes which use similar ingredients so my food goes further. I have ~20 different weeks of collections and pick + choose which week I fancy
I'd really recommend one of those empty recipe books that you can write in - I got one and it's been so useful because you can just print/photocopy recipes and stick them in (or handwrite them but that's a bit more time consuming) and you can avoid the need for lots of recipe books!
@@alicenottingham5778 yes I love writing recipes out just feels more authentic? really good idea - Im going to get a notebook for them and start it now xx
I'm starting in 21 but I'm deep into my uni research and this is such a great video! I love your videos and! xx hope your well!
same 😭 not even doing my online work, just uni research.

I lovee youu 💗
for citations we were introduced to the app/program called Mendeley which is basically an extension for your Microsoft Word and let me tell you, it is a godsend! It literally does all the work for you and all you have to do is just press a button.
I'm not in uni but my cousin said that rescue remedy/ calms is essential for him because stress can get on top of you
So excited for the uni vids 🙌🏽
i stand by the citation one IT IS A LIFE SAVER
TRUST ME
Can you do a video about what you SHOULD bring to oxford specifically and what you are allowed to bring and what not? I've seen loads of your videos but not specifically for oxford!
i just graduated and i'm still watching this...
needed this, start in September n i have no idea where to start lmaooo
Hey Eve, I'm hopefully studying Spanish at Oxford in October and a few of us doing the course are wondering how to get hold of second hand books before term starts as the tutors want us to read everything in summer. If you know any specific facebook groups or people wanting to sell their books please could you let me know? We're all struggling to find the exact editions we need so I'd really appreciate it :) x
Thank you for making this video. I’m currently going into my third year and there’s so much that I wish I’d know before I went to uni. This video will be so helpful for people going to uni in September or later
Can you do a video on Referencing?
also can u do a video on funding for ur year abroad
I hope that I’ll be paying the 9k for the experience in September 😬😬
I love that you added a second part to this - I made a 10 thing I wish I’d known before uni too! Please check it out 😊
Great video eve hope your keeping well
I had to learn how to reference for my college course an I literally write my bibliography as i go, i dont get how people can find their reference after they’ve finished
As soon as you mentioned Chicago referencing I got flash backs from someone who finished 1st year this June please don’t leave your referencing to last minute like Eve said she right!😂 Chicago referencing is a pain and so is bibliographies
Can someone link the references website, that would be so useful :D.
I love the idea of having loads of photos on a pinboard, but is it a massive faff to have to take them all off the wall every 9 weeks? 💕
Almost all universities let you leave all your belongings in your room throughout the entire year. There are only a few universities that ask you to move out in the holidays.
@@jess82384 I think Oxford tells you to clear your room? It seems like such a hassle lol
@@aliyahbegum321 at 4:30 she says she left her lavenderspray at uni tho
Yep it's a hassle but it's worth it for your room to feel homely
Eve is going on her year abroad.
Be going straight to the point in your videos 😫
Wow...Sounds like Jack Edwards to me
How are you people feeling about deferring this year? I actually cancelled my gap year and decided to go straight to university instead. Since my tuition is paid by the Scottish government I can cope with not having the “full experience” until my second year because I’m not wasting £9000 like I would if I went to uni in England
Uni of Edinburgh?
Eve and Lydia posting at the same time ✨✨❤️
Hi, Eve.......👍
Someone please tell me the use for literature im so confused to why thats a degree and the reason is cause i dont know im not saying its useless im just saying what are the uses
Living for the Spongebob hot water bottle
I’m not sure whether to defer uni this year🥴
honestly i think deferring is best option. uni is not going to be the same this year, it’s not going to be the proper experience. plus uni is expensive and getting a job for a year before hand is gonna help out massively
@@georgiamaybrogden9200 unfortunately due to the economic crisis I think jobs will be in short supply
Evie Mitchell i mean it depends what you wanna do 🤷🏼 near me theres loads of factory jobs going, carehomes and retail as well.
My course started in April so I had to start it completely online and honestly its been amazing- because the teaching has to be delivered remotely i've found teaching staff have put in a lot of time and effort to insure that the teaching is still to a certain quality and I've honestly felt so supported if not more supported than if I was there in person. Online lectures is also a bit of a blessing because you can pause, rewind or watch double speed ;)
a lot of uni’s aren’t going to let people defer as that’s what everyone will do and then they’ll be too many students next year with the year 12’s
Do they teach you referencing in university and how to write essays because I am in year 12 and if I was asked to do a uni essay and reference it I wouldn’t know where to start at all, what’s the guidance before being tasked an essay to write ???
i’m in year 12 too & did an epq which helped me with all the the referencing stuff. if there’s an opportunity, try do an epq next year to learn skills x
It depends on the uni - some unis use different referencing styles. So I learned how to do Harvard referencing at sixth form, because that’s the one we were told we needed, however my firm choice uni (I’m in year 13) uses OSCOLA referencing. I would wait until you’ve chosen your firm and insurance choice in late year 13 and then find out which referencing style your uni uses. There are loads of online tutorials out there that are really helpful!
Chicago Referencing! God damn how many are there! I only know Harvard ! 🤯
wo'a bo'uh
Ahaha watching this with a hot water bottle
