Goonj aims to provide the basic need of cloth to the poor, but they do not believe in doing it as charity. They give it as currency to the villagers for improving their own conditions. Anshu Gupta has been recognized for his creative vision in transforming the culture of giving in India, his enterprising leadership in treating cloth as a sustainable development resource for the poor, and in reminding the world that true giving always respects and preserves human dignity. He has also won many national and international honors including the Ashoka and Schwab Fellowship. He was awarded the Magsaysay Award for his work.

@2:20:00 I beg to differ. It's not double standards but lack of awareness about the working of any NGO. Since, it's perceived as a noble profession, people tend to be curious if it's different from "regular" jobs and whether it could sustain a family. That's all.
