This is a testament to just how great this band was!! They sound just as good then as they did when they started out! 409 was and always will be my favorite beach Boys song.
John Cowsill is an amazing drumming. He nails it every time. And David Marks’ guitar playing is superb. His solo in 409 is blistering! And equally great on Shut Down and I Get Around.
Mike love or al jardine probably had nothing to do with his inclusion, but having him on this epic tour really seemed like a way to bury whatever hatchet may have existed.

Phenomenal sounding! These guys have been my all-time favorite band since I was 12-years old. If this concert was from 2012, then Mike Love was 71-years old, Brian was 70, and Bruce and Al weren't too far behind. David Marks sounds fantastic on lead guitar also and made Carl proud I'm sure. RIP Carl and Dennis. 😄👍
@@bt3845 That's Jeff Foskett, who toured with the band from December 1981 until mid-1990 and then recorded and toured with Brian from 1999 until the reunion tour (and then from after the end of the reunion until 2014, when he joined Mike and Bruce). Al's son Matt has toured with the band, but he was not with them for this reunion tour.
I had a 1970 Olds 442, with posi traction, hood scoops, a Hurst 4 speed and a 411 rear end. The Beach Boys were ALWAYS plugged into my "8 track". Thanks for the memories guys.
In 64, no 409 but a 1959 Impala with the 348 and 335 horse engine, Bog Warner 4-speed. What I wouldn't give to just have that Impala back for one day. Cruising and listening to WLS out of Chicago with the great D.J. Dick Biondi, what an era.
Forget personalities and just listen and watch. They have changed lineups over the years but always the music remains as good as ever, if not better. Thanks to all the 'boys'
True, any band, no matter who, are going to have personality issues when together since the early 60's. You would, I would, no matter what after that many years. 60 years!! Just enjoy their great music, it is just beautiful!!
They had a really good drummer, David Marks’ lead guitar was blistering, plenty of backup singers and extra rhythm guitars to fill out the sound, and Mike Love has taken good care of his voice into old age.
Little Deuce Coupe was was my first album. I played the hell out of it. And I still have it today. I think it is in better shape than I am. Nothing like the Beach Boys and Jan and Dean. Those were the summer days with our portable phonograph playing 45s over and over in our garages.
When my daughter was barely old enough to crawl I would cruise around town with her with the beach boys blaring on the stereo and know matter how tight I'd strap her in her carseat she would get loose and stand up in the passenger seat and dance. It's not easy trying to steer, shift gears, and hold on to a diaper all at the same time. That was 35 years ago. I miss those little drives.
The way they sing and play - at the same time - is nothing short of incredible. Without the BB's, the world of rock would be just as we know it had to be.
Great sound here - thx for the vid. Let’s give kudos to Matt Jardine for nailing those high vocals. Perfect. He is a true Beach Boy and has toured and recorded extensively with his dad and the team. He and others should carry the surfing 🏄♂️ music torch long into to the future. God knows BB music will always be welcome here on Earth and up in high heaven, forever. Cheers!
December, 1977. Mac Court at the U. of Org. All the Boys were there, including Brian. There was even a string section. Absolutely the best concert I was ever at. I saw them 2 other times, but this one was the best. I was a radio DJ when they first hit the airwaves and it was always better for the show when I played the Beach Boys current hit.
This concert is spot on in all aspects! wow they sounded fantastic. They have never really stopped singing or touring throughout their careers and have kept their voices fine tuned.. love these guys. everyone has their favorite beach boy but they all have in their own ways over time, made the beach boys successful and still here for a new generation to discover and enjoy. thank you to all the members of the group for what you have given us over the years.. we love you all!!
I'm 20 years old,and discovered The Beach Boys around 10 years ago. And I just loved their music and lots like them. And since then,I've fell in love with the music and the era. Long live the Swingin 60s
I stayed with my Great Uncle and Aunt in Creston Iowa and one of the kids had a Chevy with a 409 with dual four- barrel carbs. Awesome machine! At the time I drove a 53 Chevy with straight six and three on the tree; but it was a whole lot better than walking! I also remember hauling butt with my girlfriend in my Dad's 61 Ford Galaxy to Shutdown back in 1963. Great music great times!
I will be going to my 38th BB concert in July. I have seen many different groups. I saw the 50th twice, and it was great. Many of the band that did the 50th tour are with Mike and Bruce. I know the musical director and lead guitar Scott Totten, the are all fine musicians. If you talk about originals Brian hasn't sang the high notes for years, but still has a decent voice. There sound is that of the BB in the 60's. I know they do smaller venues, but the fact that they are still out there is amazing. Bottom line it's the music. I leave every concert with a smile on my face. Checkout the Fendertones You Tube.
Love car songs and the Beach Boys.... What a great time to be a teenager, no cels phone etc. no care in the world but music...Stay safe everyone, from Canada
Memories of cruising Hawthorne Blvd looking for street racing back in the day... Witch Stand in Englewood to A @ W in Hawthorne.. what great memories. I wish I could have afforded a Chev 409 duel quad beast. What a great sound those big block engines made. What horrible gas mileage too. You could hear the gas sucking into those toilet bowl sized carbs. But gas was cheap, so what the hell. Beach Boys part of the sound track of my youth. Thanks guys.
