his father passed of cancer and his mother passed aswell from a cardiac arrest when he was at a very young age making him a orphan, with that hes father always told him he could do anything he want because in his world theres no borderline this song is also kinda dedicated towards his parents thats the reason of the word papa
he was 12 when his dad died from cancer and within a year his mother died from cardiac arrest. His brother was 14 years older than him and he took him into his house. He, his brother and sister are very close but yes, saying thanks to his parents makes this emotional. And it must have felt like his whole world burned down when his parents died.

This song has more layers to it. Its a tribute to his parents who died when he was a teenager. Its also a tribute to the dutch culture (happy hardcore/ 90s). And the song is pro Europe.. as a dutchie im so proud that hes performing this song in the Eurovision song contest 😄..

This is a masterpiece. Euro papa= Euro dad, because papa is dad in Dutch. A sad song with lyrics with a meaning, with a message, in a happy hardcore melody. A letter to his father who died when he was a 12 year old child. His mother past away a year later. He promised his father that he will be someday on the Eurovision Songcontest stage. His father told him that it is possible because there are no borders between the countries, and no limits to follow his dream. Borders and limitations are made by human. In every country he went, he felt the pain and grief of no having his parents. The fire symbolise letting go of the grief and pain, and the start of a new chapter in his live.

This is what I love about this song. First time watching or hearing it, it definitely sounds like something silly without too much meaning but just overall fun and catchy. But after listening it a few more times and hearing more about the backstory it just becomes so much more.

The song is a letter to his parents who died when Joost was still young. His father told him that since humans invented the borders, he could invent the world, his own world. And so he did! The end with the burning picture and house means that it's time to stop grieving about his parents and step into a new phase in his life.

Since he was a child it was his dream to sing at Eurovision and his dad said he always had to purchase his dreams. His dad died when he was 12 and at 13 his mom died. In a belgian quiz show on tv he said he wanted represent the netherlands at Eurovision. Now he is with a fucking song and a dedication to what his dad told him when he was a little kid.
