--- ABOUT
Biebl's best-known work is his Ave Maria (1964), which sets portions of the Angelus as well as the Ave Maria. The piece was brought to the United States by the Cornell University Glee Club in 1970. The ensemble met Biebl while on tour in Germany, during a recording session at a radio network where Biebl was music director. Conductor Thomas A. Sokol was given a number of Biebl's works, premiering them after returning home. The Ave Maria quickly gained popularity, most notably after becoming part of the repertoire of Chanticleer. Although it was originally scored for male voices, after "Ave Maria" became popular the composer himself rearranged the piece for SATB and SSA choirs as well. - Zábava
I remember singing this with my high school choir my senior year (1997). Tenor. The school is very old... great acoustics in the performance hall. Our choir was the best choir to this day that I have been a part of. Our director/teacher was incredible at getting everyone to blend into a single voice. I wish she could be cloned to teach other choirs. This was by far my favorite song to sing. Sounded so amazing that we began to cry from being filled with so much emotion. Bravo to this grouping!
So proud to have worked with this group. The hearts of every one of you is equal or bigger than the size of your musical talent! And Julien, thanks for hosting this and setting up the donations. Can't wait to put smiles on these children's faces :)
Will always come back to this
I can't listen to this without crying... this is everything that music is and should be
Neither do I!
Fact.
This recording is being really useful to my choir students. Thanks a lot !
Glad we could help! :)
hi , i have watch your video, You know what, on May 15th 2015, my school will be singing this song in Hail Virgin Mary concert. My school joined with all Catholic school in Bogor, Indonesia. That's a first time which all catholic school joined to make a big concert with theme ave maria. You're very good and you inspire us to sing the best. Thank u before and God Bless You .
Thank you for all your nice messages Sonya, much appreciated. :)
When I watch this video, and others made with choirs of people from around the world, it makes me cry. There is so much division, mistrust and hatred between countries - even between the people groups of individual countries -, instigated by some national leaders who feel this is what they must do in order to advance their own countries' welfare (or their own power and fame). I love hearing the blend of these beautiful voices and seeing the arrow on the map pointing to where each one is coming from.
I recall singing this in 2005 as a sophomore in high school with the county chorus. We started off the concert with "Salvation is Created" with the entire choir surrounding the auditorium and then followed it up with this song. The whole thing was ended with "The Awakening". Most of what we sang that year was sacred music. It was the first time I sang with a big choir and it had a tremendous effect on me. I still remember most of the tenor part of the entire body of music for that concert its so ingrained in me.
Blitz350 3 fantastic songs !
This is the Angelus in song -A Catholic prayer said at 6am,12 noon and 6pm "The Angel of the Lord Declared unto Mary and she conceived of the Holy Ghost" followed by the Hail Mary then "Mary said""Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it done unto me according to Thy will" ..Hail Mary..then "and the Word(Jesus Christ)was made flesh and dwelt amongst us" followed by a final Hail Mary. Astoundingly beautiful made perfect because of its subject matter! Ave Maria!
So many of my favorite a capella singers, all together in an uplifting and reverent hymn -- great any time of year, but especially with Christmas only days away. . .
I like the graphic with the globe, locating each singer.
Magnificent!!
Once again proving music is the univeral language that brings people together!
The young lady from S. Africa has a very pretty, almost angelic, voice
I've never heard this version of the Ave Maria before. What a way to discover it - beautifully done by people thousands of miles apart.
This is a great illustration of the universality of the Latin language. No matter country your are from the Latin is the same everywhere.
Michael Wise hehe hmmm I’m guessing they had to agree on pronunciation because Latin is actually pronounced differently in many places. There is a lot of debate of certain sounds depending on where you’re from.
Michael Wise, I agree.
@@DanielleCrookMusic creo que la pronunciación depende sobre todo de que sea texto clásico o texto eclesiástico. Éste es texto eclesiástico. Los textos eclesiásticos deberían pronunciarse de la misma forma en todo el mundo
This is amazing!!!
Thanks! The video editing was done in Final Cut, and the rotating globe was put together with iMovie.
Succinct and seraphic convocation, bliss abounds! Love the soprano voice, and the bearded guy has the voice of an angel. Wonderful song, grand songsters!
Are you meaning my soprano voice? :D Thanks! You can listen to more on my channel.
Enrico is the bearded guy - he has such a stunning voice, it's from another world. Glad you enjoyed our song! xx
***** According to the video, it's from Italy. (sorry)
But yeah, he's really awesome
I sang bass in this arrangement in highschool honor choir; and still y'all bring me to tears. Closest to god I've ever been; Thankyou.
I've looked for ages for an SATB version of this gorgeous piece and this is by far the best I've found. Kudos on an outstanding job.
There's a performance by the group Voces8 that I think is maybe even better than this
IM THE REAL MICHAEL
How am I supposed to do anything after hearing all of you sing so beautifully. I just closed my eyes and let the music take me. You must be angels.
that alto singer is amazing. the sopranos have such a bright cheerful quality in their voice. it's so awesome!
Aww, thanks! (from the alto)
Goosebumps! South Africa - represent!
Even if I could sing in a choir like this I wouldn't be able to get though it because it makes me tear up every time.
Bravi bravissimi dall'Italia. Mio padre ci ha lasciati pochi giorni fa e oggi proveremo a cantarla al suo funerale. Dio vi benedica!
As a bass singer, I love the amount of low notes in this song, especially the low Eb at the bottom
Thank you for your donation, supporting actively is what makes all this worthwhile. :)
The best practice track for Biebl's Ave! Have listened to this for years, and can only hope to imbue my part with the same reverence, care, and resultant beautiful sound!
In corona times, it got almost normal... But this project is 7 years old! Wow, congratulations 🎉😍

Heavenly sounds!!! 🎶 Thank you for your wonderful work to do this… I (happily) sing/ sang professionally, in a small group, in the southern portion of the USA; alas, never was privy to this glorious piece… SO glad for your exquisite singing!!!
Keep it UP! Cooked Goose 🎵🎶
I remember listening to a recording of this that was recorded inside a large cathedral. That place has the best acoustics for songs like this. The echo and resonance are so perfect!

@@JulienNeel De rien, merci à vous surtout de nous émerveiller et de nous partager votre talent. Belle et longue carrière à vous.
Love singing this piece....a big choir clashing with a smaller group....beautiful
Absolutely beautiful! Thanks.
I've been subscribed to your channel a very long time and love a lot and really like alot of the pieces youve done whether done as writtin or tweaked the songs to fit you and/or the other people you've sang with. I've never been a fan of most ave maria pieces not because they aren't good and well writtin pieces but because most recordings I've heard of it, I've never been a fan of until now. I know its done as written but the smaller choir aspect sheds a new light (i feel smaller choirs are the best in general) for me on a song that was never all that exciting for me. To make a long winded comment short. You've gotten one of your fans to appreciate a song they never used to like and gained a ton more respect (not that it means much) for what you do. Thank you
Thanks for the kind words Peter, much appreciated. :)

I love this song so much. I love how the choir sang this song. I could clearly hear each vocal part. They each stood out but they blended with each other to make a wonderful sound. Thank you for this.
Amazing! Absolutely beautiful. I have sung this piece many times, but the last was over ten years ago. Truly an honor to hear it performed by such angelic voices. I wish you the best of luck on your mission.
My wife and I absolutely love this piece. Thanks for sharing with the world.

This is truly one of the greatest versions of this song I have heard. I had the pleasure to sing it in my college choir and this brings back memories of singing this in some of Hungary's cathedrals. Amazing collab. Julien, you never cease to impress me.
What a beautiful piece! Gave me chills listening to it! Fantastic job! Bravo!

Let's turn music into toys for kids who don't have them.
I sang this with my much-beloved choir over ten years ago. It gave me chills to listen to it again. We were a diverse group, too, from all over the world, so the fact that you were all singing from disparate corners of the planet resonated with me muchly.
Also, I downloaded the hell out of this song because it's goddamned astonishing.
That was stunning. I have chills.
So beautiful! Really Great job, everyone!
Gorgeous! So clever. This is one of my favorite songs- beautifully done.
Wow, there is/was a lot of work and effort put into this. I thoroughly enjoyed it a lot! Love the effects.
Great song love the voices, did it in my choir 2016 and it's remained as one of my favorite songs to sing every now and again.
It's incredible! Congratulations for the harmony of this choral group
Beautiful. I love this arrangement.
Superior work from everyone! Julien, Julia, and all the vocalists; it's phenomenal
Absolutely heavenly! Great job!
Stunning you guys. Absolutely stunning. Proof that you don't need a huge ensemble to pull this piece off. Bravo!
Amazing video guys, beautiful song, brings good memories, and even more amazing voices. That it's all for the best of causes only makes it deserve the word "perfect".
I thoroughly enjoyed this performance. Reminiscent of my choir boy days in my native Germany and college choirs in which I performed long ago. Now that I'm a barbershopper, I can truly appreciate this level of professionalism. Thank you Julien Neel.
Thanks Thilo. Everyone in the group made this possible. :)

Please bring us more of this, millions of people around the world yearn for such wonderful collaborations, such enthralling music, such moments when boundaries fade away, we are all one.
Guys, I really love this. I was first introduced to this piece some years ago when I stayed in Albuquerque NM. I had forgotten about it until a small group I sing with in Edinburgh, SCO included it in the programme, so I have my own international memories. It was inexplicably in my head tonight and I came home, searched for it and found you. Have gone to your site to put a donation to your charity. Well deserved.
Absolutely stunning.
Absolutely amazing voice co-ordination.
