Thanks for your support... there are still a few items I want to modified, such as adding the foot rest, and also two longitudinal creases at the bottom, running from the front to the rear, to enhance the tracking. Add a retractable fin to handle the windy condition. All these are easy to add to the current design. Will have these completed before we return to the river in spring 2024. Happy New Year!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience, sir. A simple footrest made with a single bar and supported by straps on the side might be an improvement on the comfortability, and ease of use. It allows the user to push back firmly into their seat, providing more stability and allowing them to utilize their paddles more efficiently. It should not impact the size or weight of the canoe at all either. And the cost would be very minimal. The Oru Beach LT has it in their design and I think you could certainly do something similar for in your design for Gen 24 as well.

I appreciate your feedback and your excellent suggestion. Yes, you are correct, I should add the foot rest for these kayaks. Now is winter here and I will do that before we return to the river in spring. I have added the foot rest to a few of the my boats. I used PVC pipe or aluminum and implemented that similar to the ORU kayaks. Also, I should add two longitudinal creases at the bottom (running from the front to the rear) to provide better tracking for this kayak. Oh, need to add a retractable fin to handle the windy condition. I will update the boat plan with this change in the next 2 weeks.

This is the most challenging part in building a usable boat. That's why I developed heat fusion to extend the 8 ft long coroplast to 14 ft in length. Yes, you can use heat fusion to build a longer kayak (from the 8' long coroplast). you can check out this article: makezine.com/projects/origami-kayak/
my friend built two folding kayaks using the 4'x8' coroplast from home depot. He used the 4 mm thick one. I suggest you to use the 5 or 6 mm thick one.
