I sometimes host karaoke and love using my controllers and softwares to play and project. Now with an fx on 2 mic lines, i dont have to bring a seperate mixer with fx processor every time. Less set up time.

    I was trying Prime 2 today and there was one thing I couldn't figure out. Whe I use my MC3000 together with Virtual DJ I use a lot of Hot Cues. The cool thing is that each time I use any of my Hot Cues and then press CUE button music stops at the last Hot Cue I used instead of going back to "main" cue point ( the one next to PLAY button ). It's so annoying that in Prime 2 each time I am testing my Hot Cues I have to find the way to go to the one I like. For example I want to jump to one of them and prepare loop... If I just pres hot cue button It starts playing and I cant set the loop.
    I hope you understand what I mean.
    Is this possible to make Prime going back to last Hot Cue I used? I was testing only with original OS without updating.

    I feel for all you youngsters that missed the glory days of the Technics 1210 mkll's even the 1200 were very good. I have all my flight cases stacked up like a wall in my study when i would turn up to play anywhere it was a given that you would have 2 x MK 2's and a big Allen and Heath or something, pretty universal. Some of the booths were amazing to play in, the Fith Man previously the Gay Traitor had a spring system to stop the records jumping. Now you need a fucking A level to work some of the digital stuff, a lot have not been able to adapt and have gone by the way side bar a few. It's enabled a far more conservative crowd to get into the digital kit and become exellent. Bare in mind that most of these kids are born with it, you can be taught to mix but you can't be taught how to read the energy coming off your crowd, that is something your born with. A bone of contention is these controlers and cdj's which i use, will play and mix the damn music for you. Counter intuative. Even the music is very conservative. As i said i feel for all those who missed The Thunderdome, Quadrant Park, Hacienda, Renaissance, Cream all gone in their original formats. There's no music made that works dance floors into frenzies anymore. I just think theres to much of it, digital equipment and it goes obsolete a year after you had it. What can it do?

      I do think everyone should start mixing on vinyl though, but it's just far too expensive to kids now compared to mp3s, plus all the extra equipment needed like u say. Damn shame

    I got it, and got rid of it.
    1. There's no CDJ mode with paus/stutter. Only two Vinyl modes where the only difference is how the top of the platter behaves.
    2. The external connections don't have access to any effects but the filter. How about that for a surprise when you hook up your turntables or a pair of CDJ's.
    Those were the 2 things that in minutes took me from extremely excited to very disappointed, but there were several more things that really didn't live up to my expectations. All the extras all of a sudden becomes unimportant, when the basics isn't there. My Prime 4 ended up under a blanket for three months and I just got angry looking at it. Three months is how long it took to get someone else to buy it, and it wasn't even in stock yet. I lost time and money believing Denon finally had came out with something I could use, but no, not this time either. When you cut out important features that's been on just about every piece of gear since the 90's, please talk about that and explain, or you get DJ's like me who's been decades in the business telling every one everywhere not to buy unless you have the chance to really test it out first, and our recommendations to the clubs and venues where we play will not be any of the Denon line up.
    In my opinion they are for personal use only and the only chance you're gonna like them are if you're strictly coming from a controller background, where you will be familiar with the layout. For the rest of the pro DJ world I can't see it happen, unless you either implement those basic functions or at least are being honest about it when you showcase your products. I have two colleagues who also bought the Prime 4 and as of today they've also sold theirs, hugely disappointed. This is why, three years in, the new Prime series still is not anywhere to be found. ...and it could so easily have been avoided. Someone at Denon should have a foot planted...

    • @Bejeerk
      @Bejeerk Před 4 lety

      I'm not owning any Denon gear yet, but they got me interested, I'm just saying that for clarity, but as I understood by watching a lot of videos, you could have requested these features to be implemented as it can be done with a software update, and it looks like Denon really listens to people's feedback.

    • @dj-peterofficial2753
      @dj-peterofficial2753 Před 4 lety +1

      @@Bejeerk Yes, you are right about that, some. But as someone working professionally I can't wait. My gear needs to be fully working from day one, or there's nor reason to buy that gear yet. Unfortunately there's no time schedule for when what will be changed or ever for that matter.
      The downside to have a software based system to the degree Denons new gear is built, is that while it keeps cost down, it also means that things like all the effects will be disabled for everything external you connect, as you can't route that signal through the software. At least not the way they have constructed the Prime 4, and I suspect the Prime 2. The filter is the only effect that is built in as a hardware effect and will work with your turntables and CDJ's.
      If you only intend to use the internal players, of course it doesn't matter, but for me and most pro DJ who's been in the game for a long time, it's extremely important that a huge centerpiece like the Prime 4 will handle all external gear the same way as the internal players, because we have loads of different gear we like to hook up and use. This also goes for every club, bar and event where different DJ's will use the unit and some prefer CDJ's, and other turntables. To not be able to hook this gear up and use it with effects disqualifies the Prime 4 in my book, and for many others
      .
      To me it feels like Denon only consider their gear to be used as personal gear, like controllers are, and also they only turn to people that has no other gear they seriously wanna use in combo with the Prime 4. This is where Pioneer has the advantage and why you see the XDJ-all-in-one series in many DJ-booths today. I have a colleague who ordered and got the Pioneer XDJ-XZ the first week it was released. He got it on a Friday, took it directly to an event and unpacked it there and played on it for 5 straight hours. That's the level pro's expect the gear we buy to work, nothing less.
      Denon is not there yet, and soon 4 years of trying has not made Pioneer even blink in reaction to the gear Denon has marketed yet. I love competition, and I love gear that makes my job easier and more fun, but most important I need to be able to trust my gear to work every time for years without surprises or repairs. Also it needs to be flexible and suit different ways to play, including the way I've been using Pioneer and Denon gear since mid 90's. In the end, for me, it is a work tool that pays my bills, and nothing else. Pioneer has fulfilled that need since 1994. In that time I've never had a unit fail on me and the little maintenance that's been required, I've been able to do myself. ...yet, I was hopeful and did buy the Prime 4, and it failed.
      But, this is my personal experience and opinions, and for some the Prime 4 will the best investment they could ever do. I comment on things missing in all the reviews i watched before I invested $2000, that would have prevented me from spending that money to begin with, if I had known about it. Hopefully, it will help someone else to make the right decision for them. As a side note, Denons´ product manager did contact me after I initially wrote about my experience with the Prime 4, so indeed, they listen to their customers, and I'm sure they will fix most of the things I and other raised concerns about. Still, that is for DJ's who can wait.

    • @Bejeerk
      @Bejeerk Před 4 lety +1

      @@dj-peterofficial2753 That's a totally fair position to have, I understand where you're coming from and respect your opinion. I'd say that for now Denon is trying the water, see what people want and act on this. But it is true most of the time, if not every time they present their products, they mention mobile DJ and wedding DJ more than clubs, and I think that's the public they're aiming for, for now at least. I own very old Pioneer gear and I thought an update is needed, that's why I'm looking at reviews, and your comment really interested me, hence why I replied. Tbh, Denon gear if full of features most people wouldn't use, such as the hard drive port for example, artists wouldn't store their own music for copyright issues, even lighting directors clear any data that has been saved for copyright reasons, but I mean, it's good to have the option. Also, I don't like that they called reverse "censor", we ain't kids (also why is it so flashy looking, doesn't look professional, that's why I like the SC6000 better than the rest of their products), but I like that it slips by default, and a switch for the reverse would be better too. In the end I think the only feature of value for me that Pioneer doesn't have on their gear is the key sync and change option to be able to mix in key. Well, that and the layering of players that is pretty dope. And in the end it's much cheaper than Pioneer, I always wanted to have 3 CDJ-2000Nexus2 with one DJM-900Nexus2 for the type of sets I do, this would cost me around 9k iirc, while 2 SC6000 and a X1850 would only cost me around 4k. This is much more affordable and because it's a software inside, they can improve on it, so it can evolve, thing Pioneer gear can hardly do. But I totally get that you sometimes can't wait for a feature, it has to be there from the get go, and I think with Denon listening to people's feedback it'll reach that point where it'll be perfect. But they have yet to really push their products to the clubs, that's where they'd get the best feedback imo. I haven't made my decision on buying Denon gear yet, but I'm looking into it, I plan to go try their gear to make my opinion before buying. I'm interested both in the Prime 4 or getting 2 SC6000 and a X1850, the latest solve the issues you had with the Prime 4 if I'm not mistaken.

      @@Bejeerk Whichever you chose in the upper echelon of pro gear, you will most likely be satisfied. When it comes to playing in key it is something most pro DJ's have done for a long time. In rekordbox you have sorting functions that will help you access the best options in your collection as you can use several sorting options. On the NXS2 and latest XDJ-models you have this sorting function on board. Personally I only use file name info. With the help of Mixed-in-key I insert the key in the file name in to every song I want to be able to mix in key. I play a wide variety of music and depending on the situation, sometimes the right track is more important than mixing in key. As this has been a part of my toolbox for many year,s I didn't really raise my eyebrows for that possibility on the Prime 4. I also use Platinum Notes 4 from M.I.K. to correct the gain, dynamics and pitch to avoid clipping, which makes my music library sound extremely clean on very high end systems, even on very high db's. This is something the Prime 4 can not do, so my prep routines wouldn't change at all despite all the extras the Prime 4 can do on the fly because of the computing power it has. I think a lot of pro DJ's are in just about the same situation as me, which is why we don't really appreciate those extras the Prime 4. And, not to forget, the Pioneer CDJ-2000NXS2 is over 4 years old, and we know Pioneer will present their next gen player later this year. This time they have a complete new situation where they can copy and paste a few things and add their own spin to it. I think that is the most scary part of all :) . Changes is only good when they add value. If Pioneer takes something away, I think DJ's like me will quickly buy an extra pair of NXS2's just to be sure we are set for the rest of our DJ lives. Mine are 4 years old and is practically as new. Another two and I'm set for the next 10 years or so :) .

      @@dj-peterofficial2753 Regarding Denon's ability to mix in key, what I like is that you can change the key of a track independently from the BPM directly on the player, I think that's really cool, so you can play anything you want, you're not restricted. But you make a fair point on the Prime 4, humans are creatures of habits, but I don't mind changing mine. And I'm curious to see what's coming next from Pioneer, will they deliver, or ignore the Denon threat, because even if it looks like they don't have much to fear, Denon still is coming hard for them, but I don't think they'll take anything away.
