looks a idea. just wondering if the bait came of and the fish ended up swallowing the Armour mesh ?

It would pass through like any other (like stones, twigs, etc.) non-digestible things.

So if gudgeon attack big pieces of luncheon meat could I use a smaller hook and a smaller piece of meat to catch gudgeon

I just use a small bait screw works a treat or use a spring out of a pen ALIEN

I have seen plenty of times anglers reeling in their rigs with just some evidence of the Spam inside of the spring.. My suggested variation is much more durable - quite often you can catch a few on a single hookbait 👍
      Cheers

Nice idea but over here crayfish would take it of the rig within minutes.

It was not advertised as anti-crayfish. Still it would be much better than just meat or no meat on the hook..
