I was told by my high school music teacher that I had a natural ear for harmony and also that I had perfect pitch..also if we were outside singing and they wanted to start on a certain note she would ask me..and more often than not I could pull up the tonic note to the song..really only because I had memorized what key we were doing the songs in so I knew my part so I could pull up everyone else's starting notes..if you hear the harmony in your mind the keys don't really matter as much because the spacial distances are all the same. Vocals are easy, instruments are difficult. Ask any true guitar player.

My 5.5yr is in LOVE with Jack. Her music teacher told us she has the most beautiful pitch she has heard out of a kindergartener. She could listen to “Peaches” everyday of her life all day long. I use to have enough of a good pitch to tune my violin when I played regularly. Choir from 4th grade up. All the music programs I could do. I’m just softly helping her find her music abilities. 💜 But if you got it, you got it.

JB has what is known as "relative pitch." Like he said, someone with perfect pitch can hear a note without any context and can tell you what note it is.

The best you can do is relative pitch, which anyone can achieve with enough practice. If you learn relative pitch you can then imitate perfect pitch just by something as simple as having a song stuck in your head that you recently listened to

The whole point of it is I’m making fun of people who use it to get social leverage or credibility as a musician. People who credit their perfect pitch as part of their identity or self worth are the kind of people who tell everyone they know that they have it. I try not to let people know because it doesn’t matter unless I’m in the band room
Technically, perfect pitch means someone can name a note and you can reproduce it without a reference tone by the sound your car makes when you crash it.
