Excuse me, but that eye make-up is faaaaaancy! Love it!
Also the book yes. It’s good
Thank you SO MUCH for this review! I started this the other day and I absolutely love it so far! But I wanted to see some other peoples thoughts, without spoiling the story for myself! Your review was so good! Thank you!! Its really intrigued me further into the story!! Also i just have to say, your eye makeup in this video is beautiful! I love how the colors blend together😍
Ooo, so happy to hear your thoughts on this one. I've been on the fence with it, but I'll definitely be checking it out now!
So glad you reviewed this! I’ve been seeing it around and the cover / title definitely interested me. Now I want to check it out!
Really loved this book. Have the audiobook on hold through the library and can’t wait.
I'm reading this book now and am searching for reviews because I'm loving it so much and can't wait to gush and share. I'm rambling..but I'm just so excited. Lol!
I’ve wanted to read this for months so now I’m even more excited about it!
This book has been on my reading list for quite some time. The plot and book cover drew me in. Hopefully, I'll get to it soon enough.
I cannot help myself and not say that you look beautiful! Your eyes and make up just make you glow! (I hope it does not sound weird)
So excited for this review! I've been waiting for this since you hauled it last year 😊 Thank you!
I'm sorry it took me so long I'm so ashamed lol
I'm so glad to see this review, I was a bit hesitant to pick up this book but its encouraging that you enjoyed it. I am always a bit afraid to read these takes on Eastern Europe folklore being that I grew up there but hell yeah let's try this.
Loved this book! The second book is just as good! Might be a new favorite series for me. Glad you liked it too!
Oooh, you have sold this book to me. I do believe I own it *ransacks bookshelves* and after watching your in-depth review, I shall be reading it this year :) I also would like to read more eastern European folklore so I'm excited to start this!
I'm reading this at the moment and am just totally caught up in the beauty of it. LOVE it! :D
I love this book so much, and the sequel is just as good! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it 😃
YES to the eastern europe mythology!! After reading uprooted, deathless and this I found I really liked it and need to find more books with the folklore :p
I absolutley loved the book. My fave of all times. Feminsim is in there as well seeing how its based in a time where women were supposed to bow their heads to men and I love that.
Just finished this book. This was soo soo beautiful, in terms of mythology, the setting, the theme , everything. ❤️ Never imagined that Russian or any diffrent origin of mythologically based novel Would i enjoy. Glad I read it.
Really wanna pick this one up now. Also, if you want something that I think will have the similar feel to this book I think you should check out The Beast is an Animal. I read an arc of it this year and it turned out to be one of my favs of the year but it's so underrated.
your makeup floored me in this video. you look stunning.
thank youuuu
I read Uprooted at around the same time I played the third Witcher game (and listened obsessively to the soundtrack). I discovered in that time that I also enjoyed the unique atmosphere a fantasy inspired by Eastern European folklore has in comparison to the western European inspired fantasy that's become a staple of the genre. I'd read a little about Slavic folklore and fairy tales but there's a lot I want to explore.
So I can't wait to get to this story and am so glad you liked it!
I was a little afraid to click on the video because I thought you might not like it.. I'm really relieved that you did.

Aren't the creatures the best? And the big warm oven thing.. I also felt the atmosphere and stopped several time to think if the story was based on something real! 😄 Have you read the second book yet?
I haven't but I hope to read it before the end of the winter! I can't imagine reading it any other time of year lol
Your makeup looks so good! It's been awhile since I've seen you do a super warm, bright eye look! Also, any rough idea when the next round of Tome Topple will be happening? I can't handle my excitement!
In the spring sometime, probably March or April :)
This is my summer reading book, and its one of the only times i’m actually looking forward to reading a book assigned by the school
nice! I'm so jealous you get to read this for school tbh
As you know, I just couldn't connect to this story until the last quarter, but despite that I did still love Vasilisa because of her wild nature, I loved how she was her own person and was so passionate and fearless - I just wish I had connected to the story more. Annnnd this reminds me I need to film my review. STORY OF MY LIFE.
I have been wanting to read this book forever!
Tess Avery Books I’ve put it into my cart so many times but I can’t pick which cover I want so I don’t buy it
I honestly had no interest in reading this book when I first heard about it a little while ago but everyone keeps saying such great things I ended up adding it to my TBR anyways. Maybe it will end up being a great surprising read for me. I really enjoy your reviews and your eye makeup is on point as always!
I’m nearly a quarter of the way in and really enjoying the atmosphere and culture of the book. Can’t wait to see where it goes and I’ve heard each book gets better and better.
they do!
Thoughts on Tomes this excites me. It’s good to jump in to a fantasy series that doesn’t have about 400 prequels, spin offs, and sequels. Just three tightly woven together books for now. Thank you for replying! :)
Hi Sam!
My Amazon wishlist and card hates you but I ADORE your taste and how you point out stuff (and this has similarities with 'Uprooted'. I. AM SOLD). is this a trilogy, right?
A couple of questions, is the style rich?I mean, did you see like the author worked very hard on the tale to make you believe the story?
I ask you this because lately I've read books that, although they were very good, there were parts where I felt like the events happened very rushed and very, very convenient to the story. And I don't like that. At all.
Do you consider it a hard book to read for a non-English person?
Your videos are always amazing!
Hugs!
So im reading it so far i have mixed feelings about it but Im intruiged
The way you pronounce her name makes me want to cry
How would you say it compares to Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials stories?
You actually make a compelling case to read this
You got yourself a new sub!
:)
I just finished this book over the weekend and honestly it took me forever to read (over a month and for me that is long). I think the main thing I struggled with is the terms used to refer to people, now that I finished the book and found the glossary it is helpful but having 4 or more ways of addressing a single character and terms that are very similar to other characters really trips me up. With the conclusion though I was immediately reaching for the next book.
I love mythology and folklore but I'm also Catholic, I really don't want to read another book bashing my religion. Can anyone tell me it this is the case with the this book?
I wouldn't say it's bashing. Those that follow the more organized religions are seen as sympathetic. But if you don't like books in which characters question organized religion, you probably won't like this.
Im confused about the POV a lot of times it seems to switch off a lot. I like her brothers so far tho
Ive had this book since before anyone was talking about it, when it came out and i have yet to read it. Total cover buy.
You say Beauty and the Beast and I'm on de way
I started listening to the audiobook and I'm on the 12th chapter (the priest with the golden hair) and wow I feel like the older I get the less patience I have for religious zealotry and indoctrination regardless whether it's irl or fiction
I didnt like this book and wouldn’t be picking up the 2nd book BUT the writing IS beautiful.
I’m sorry but you pronounced the name soooo wiring it’s not vassy it’s v-ah-se, v-ah-se lisa
