महाराष्ट्र की विधानसभा में कुल 288 सदस्य हैं लेकिन मौजूदा समय में 274 विधायक हैं. इस लिहाज से एक एमएलसी सीट जीतने के लिए प्रथम वरीयता के आधार पर कम से कम 23 विधायकों का समर्थन चाहिए. बीजेपी के 103 विधायक हैं तो उसके सहयोगी अजित पवार की एनसीपी के पास 40 विधायक और शिंदे की शिवसेना के 38 विधायक हैं.
